## **`Objectives and aims`**

TheCharity'saimistoadvanceeducationamongstchildrenandyoungpeopleprimarilybutnotexclusivelyin Kenya,
whichitdoesbycomingalongsideexistingschoolsandequippingthemwithbuildings,educational materials,
knowledgeand funding,and by providingfundingand assistancewith travelarrangementsto allow childrento attend
existingschoolsintheircommunity.TheCharityalsoaimstoworktowardsalleviatingpovertyintheareasin which
such schools are based by assistingwith the paymentof school fees to allow underprivilegedchildrento attend school
and receive not only an education but also a daily hot meal and the support of respected adults in the community.

The Charity'sobjectivesare to increasefundinglevels in order to providefurtherfinancialsupportto the communities
itworksin,andtocontinuetoprovideknowledge,assistanceandopportunitiestothoselivingwithin such
communities.TheCharityanticipatesmeetingtheseaimsbyraisingawarenessoftheCharityinorderto attract
financialsupportersintheUnitedKingdom,andbycontinuingtodeveloptherelationshipinplacewiththose people
who run the community projects in conjunction with the Charity.

## **`Significant activities`**

The Charitycontinuesto pursue a community-focusedapproach,providingfundingand travel assistanceto children in
the communityto allow them to attendone of a number of schoolswe partnerwith and working with local families in
connectionwith a number of initiatives(such as distributingwater filters to families within the communityto allow for
clean water, working with women with HIV/AIDS, providing regular support to over 35 families within the community).
```

TheCharityhasdonatedsignificantfundsto"DoxaInternational",theKenyanCBO(CommunityBased Organisation)
that co-ordinatesthe work within the local community,to assist with variousprojectsand a significantchild education
programme.ThecharitycontinuestosupportDoxaInternationalinfarmingthetwoplotsoflandthathelp provide
food for the local community.

## **`ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE`** 

## **`Charitable activities`** 

```
Followingonfromthebuildingofthecommunitycentrein2022,muchof2023wasspentworkingwiththe "Doxa
International"team in Kenyaon internaldecoratingandcompletingthe externallandscapingaroundthe building. We
had teams from the UK visit Kenya in May and Novemberof 2023 to work on this. Anotherbuildingat the front of  the
plotwasalsorefurbishedtobeusedforthesponsorshipschemebreakfastclubandfellowshipmeetings. Significant
fundswere donatedtowardsthis work. Manyof those who have been to Kenyafrom the UK as part of a Doxa Project
team will also spend time within the community and visiting our projects.
```

The two farm plots owned by "Doxa International"continueto be farmed. The drillingof a borehole took place in  April
2023 on the land and it is plannedthat we will assist with the fundingfor the remainingstages of this borehole project
in due course. The borehole will provide regular water for the farm as well as the local community.
```

ThedonationstowardstheworkofTheDoxaProjectcontinuetoincreaseandwehavereceivedanumberof new
monthlydonorsthatenableustocontinuetosupporttheworkof"DoxaInternational"inKenya.This includes
increasingthenumberofchildrenwithinthechildsponsorshipschemeandsupportingmorefamilieswithin the
community of Kwa Murugi.
```

WealsohaveTrusteesandsupportersintheUKwhomakeregularvisitstovariousmeetinggroupsaspartof our
fundraisingandawarenessinitiatives.Eachyearweproduceaprintnewsletterthatinformsoursupportersof our
recent, current and proposed work with the community of Kwa Murugi.
```

## **`Reserves policy`**

Thetrusteesagreedthatinadditiontofundingschoolfeesforthesponsoredchildren,fundswouldbespentat the
appropriatetimeoncommunityprojects.InconjunctionwithourpartnersinKenya,"DoxaInternational",a monthly
budget continuesto be providedto enable the work in the communityto continue.The monthlyamountgifted by the
Charityto"DoxaInternational"wasusedforthingssuchcommunitycentrerunningcosts,monthlyfood parcels,
contributions to the wages of five "Doxa International" employees and other emergency needs.
```

As of 31st January2024,there are 70 childrenthathave their educationfundedby The Doxa Projectincluding15 that
arenowattendingsecondaryschool.Amonthlyamounttocoveralltheschoolfeesisnowsentoutto "Doxa
International" who oversee the progress of the children.
```

## **`FUTURE PLANS`**

The building of a multi-purposecommunitycentre, to help educate and resource the wider local communityin areas of
leadership,adulttrainingandapprenticeshipsbeganinNovember2022andtheinternaldecorationwas largely
completedbytheendof2023.InJanuary2024we begantoutilisethenewbuildingandthisincludedthe computer
classroom, bike workshop, kitchen and large gathering space.
```

WecontinuetobuildrelationshipswithotherorganisationsinandaroundNakuru,seekingtohelpcommunities like
Kwa Murugi.
```

It is planned that the next stages of the borehole project will begin towards the end of 2024.
```

New trustees are appointedby the existing trustees and serve until required by the articles of association("Articles") to
retireandstandforreappointment.ThearticlesoftheCharityprovideforaminimumof3trustees.Trustees recruit
newtrusteesonthebasisoftheirexperience,theirempathytowardstheCharity'saimsandtheirwillingnessto act.
Trustees also consider the skills of potentialnew trustees and how those skills would benefit the Charity as a whole (for
example,a potentialnew trusteewho has previouslymanagedthe constructionof educationalfacilitiesabroad would
have valuable insight relevant to the Charity's aims).

TheinductionprocessfornewtrusteesinvolvesaninitialmeetingwiththeChairmanoftheboardwhoprovides the

Trusteesmeetregularlyandatleast,asawholegroup,3timesayear.Attrusteemeetingsthetrustees agree
immediateandlong-termstrategyandconsidercurrentareasofactivity.Thisinvolvesconsiderationof current
fundinglevels,anticipateduseoffunds,recentandproposedfundraisingefforts,anyimmediateneedsraised in
connectionwiththeCharity'scurrentproject(s)andriskmanagementconcerns,policiesandprocedures. Trustees
makedecisionstogetheronamajoritybasis,butdodelegatethedaytodayadministrationoftheCharity'sfunds to
the Chairmanas andwhere neededgiven thatan immediateandpressingneed for fundscan ariseat anytime of day
or night(suchas for breakdownexpensesin relationto the vehiclemaintainedby "DoxaInternational".Where funds
are required at short notice, the Chairman informs all trustees in writing as soon as reasonablypracticable(ideally prior
to but sometimes after the transfer of such funds).

## **`Risk management`**

ThetrusteeshaveconsideredthemajorriskstowhichtheCharityisexposedandhavereviewedthoserisks and
establishedsystemsandproceduresto managethoserisks.The majoroperationalriskto theCharityis theextent to
which the funds sent abroad to be applied towards specific costs are indeed applied towards meeting those costs. The
trusteesmanagethisriskby maintainingregular(atleastdailyandmore oftenthannotmultipletimesa day) contact
withtherecipientofthefundstransfer,whoistaskedwithreportingpurchasesandpaymentsmadewith funds
supplied by the Charity to the trustees and providingreceipts and confirmationof purchase as and where possible. The
trustees also require sight of the book keeping records maintainedby "Doxa International"to check amounts spent. In
addition,the trusteeswork to ensure that a representativeof the Charity(a trusteeor, failingthat,a person known to
thetrustees)visitsatfourtimeseachyearinordertochecktheaccountingrecordsandprojectprogress, amongst
other things.
