The trustees present their report on Look Around, the “charity”, together with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 30 June 2022.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
The Look Around is a charity registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales number 1149672 whose objects are to:
-
advance Christianity in the UK by spreading the gospel (evangelising) and supporting those who do the same. This includes preaching and praying in public, visiting prisons, hospitals, orphanages, schools, and universities, and facilitating and supporting existing Christians and/or Christian organisations, or other Christian places of worship.
-
prevent or relieve poverty in the UK by providing grants, items, and services to individuals in need and/or charities, or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.
-
preserve health and/or relieve sickness and/or assist in the treatment and care of persons suffering from mental or physical illness of any description or in need of rehabilitation because of such illness, by the provision of facilities, support services and equipment to those who need it.
We want:
-
To help drug and alcohol addicted individuals make a full recovery through a multi-phased, longterm programme of social rehabilitation, collaborating with other charities and rehabilitation organisations.
-
work with the youth and teenagers, organising and holding meetings, events in order to instill in the younger generation Christian values, as well as the concept of healthy society, to

prevent them from falling into the wrong society or environment, including drug and/or alcohol
addiction, emotional breakdowns, mental health etc.
-
We want to prevent drug and alcohol abuse amongst children and young people.
-
We want to help restore families within the community by providing counselling and support for codependent family members; by helping with employment and debt relief advise.
The t rustees confirm that they have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the trust’s aims and objectives and in planning future activities and setting policy for the year.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
After being set up in 2012 by the original Board of Trustees, the charity has been active until 2018 and then discontinued its work. In August 2020, the board decided to hand over the ownership of the charity to a new Board of Trustees (please see page 3). Look Around began its work as a new charity under the new board, building on pre-existing aims of the charity.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19 -20) This is a great commission of Jesus Christ which has become a foundation of our charity Look Around.
The chosen name ‘Look Around’ has its significance and deep meaning: it poses a question, we ask for people to look around and see beyond the threshold of their own lives, to recognise that there are people in great need who are desperate for their help. This issue has given birth to our centralised aim, to connect those who are in need to those who want to help. As a charity, we join our forces to help less advantaged people: disabled, orphans, people struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, prisoners, and people who live in extremely poor conditions. Our compassion for the broken is deeply rooted in our Christian values. We believe that every person deserves to be given a hand of help and looked after, especially the younger generation and those who have been forgotten and ignored by society. Through this, we aim to restore broken homes, support financially and mentally those in need, protect young people from the dark underbelly of society and gift those in desperation with a second chance in life.
The trustees consider the charity’s period end financial position and the results above to be satisfac tory and expect that the present level of activity will be maintained and increased for the foreseeable future.
Charity ’s activities and plans have been greatly affected since February 2022 by the war in Ukraine. It has had a direct impact on the work of the charity as most of the members and volunteers have families and close ties in Ukraine who have suffered from the war.
Multiple fundraising campaigns have been organised in order to support Ukrainian refugees and their families here in the UK, also donations were directed to support churches in Ukrainian cities of Dnipro and Kharkiv. There has been a separate fundraiser for the eye surgery for the individual in Ukraine who received the money safely and underwent eye surgery in due time.
Donations made it possible to fund our work with the drug and alcohol addicted, in particular, our joint work with other rehabilitation centres and charities, like those ones in Germany where we used to send people suffering from addiction and continue our cooperation until today, exchanging experiences and building relationships for the most fruitful work.
The donations also went towards the organisation of various community events and outings to bring our community together, to support people in need who were seeking support from the charity as well as our own volunteers and ministers, to maintain the healthy atmosphere and friendly supportive environment.

ministry, kid’s and teen’s ministry, including Christian summer camps, various events and activities throughout the year for the youth, kids and teenagers, which aligns with the charity’s Christian foundation.
Our plan for 2022/2023
We aim to continue growing and expanding with the ways we achieve objects of the charity. Our focus will remain on preventing and tackling the issue of addiction within our communities, by working with the public, particularly with the youth and teenagers, also helping people already affected by the addiction. We aim to continue cooperation with other charities and organisations like rehabilitation centres not only in the UK but across Europe. We will continue to support CMC London and their ministry including for youth, children and teenagers. We are planning to continue our support for the Ukrainian refugees and their families as long as it is needed. We also aim to grow our donor base, attract corporate sponsors, apply for grants, and continue working with local authorities to raise funds and awareness for our causes.

RESPECTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES OF TRUSTEES AND EXAMINER
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the Act.
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act; and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
BASIS OF INDEPENDENT EXAMINER ’ S REPORT
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
INDEPENDENT EXAMINER ’ S STATEMENT
In connection with my examination, it can be concluded that,
-
(1) trustees have met the requirements to ensure that:
-
proper accounting records are kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act; and
-
accounts are prepared which agree with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Act; or
-
(2) the accounts can be reached.
