Para 1.20 | The Moving On Parade celebrates local children's transition from primary to secondary school. The Moving On project 2025 was a huge success. Workshops in carnival arts took place in all schools across the area to create a joyous moving tide of children, sculptures, costumes and music through the town, made by over 300 children working with a team of local artists. Moving On is an important part of the cultural calendar locally and a much anticipated rite of passage for children in this area. Thousands of people came out to watch the carnival and to show the children their support as they cheer them through. Moving On provided the young people involved with an early experience of participation in the life of their local community. The project was very inclusive and involved children of all backgrounds and abilities, including pupils with significant and multiple disabilities. The project represented for all parties a concrete opportunity to take part in high-quality arts activities. Patina is committed to ensuring that Moving On is accessible to children of all abilities and backgrounds and we fundraise centrally to cover the costs of participation for all children on free school meals. Feedback showed Moving On instilled a sense of pride and belonging for the children who took part and the many spectators, and an understanding of the positive influence of creativity and cooperation within the wider community. It was a tangible manifestation of the support that the local community has for its young people: “This is Patina and the Moving On Parade…. An opportunity for our children to applaud themselves and their achievements and simply be happy. Love Lewes for celebrating and encouraging the arts in a world that is transitioning at breakneck speed.” “Absolutely brilliant, from start to finish. PATINA gang you are amazing. Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of PATINA (Parents and Teachers in the Arts)
I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 30 September 2025, which are set out on pages 1.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:

examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act

to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act

to state whether particular matters have come to my attention
Basis of independent examiner’s report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the next statement.
Independent examiner’s statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:

to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act and

to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting

requirements of the 2011 Act have not been met or

(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached
