## **TRUSTEES' REPORT**

## **FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 JULY 2022**

The trustees present their report and accounts for the year ended 31 July 2022

## **Objectives and activities**

The purpose of the charity is to advance the education of all the pupils in the school by :1) developing effective relationships between the staff parents and others associated with the school; 2) Engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.

The trustees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities they should take.

## **Achievement and performance**

The charity had another successful year of events which included a Christmas fair, cake sale and summer fair. The charity also sold refreshments at the Inter School Cross Country event and on various occasions during the year.

Ongoing income was generated by the sale of water bottles, T-shirt and pre-loved uniform sales, and recycling of clothes, CDs and DVDs.

## **Financial review**

The charity raised funds from the various activities carried out and generated a gross income of £26,498. The charity then spent £7,000 of its unrestricted funds in donations to the school for the purchase of books.

The unrestricted funds of the charity at the year end to use for future projects totalled £23,897. This level of funds is expected to reduce over the coming years as the charity is expected to donate to the school for some larger projects.

## **Plans for the future**

The charity has been asked to assist the school with the refurbishment of a library corner and the redevelopment of the quiet garden area with some new equipment.

## **Structure, governance and management.**

Friends of the Vale School is registered with the Charity Commission as required by the Charities Act 2011.

The trustees are appointed by the board of trustees. It is intended that the trustees will serve a term of 1 year and will reconsider their position at the end of each term. The trustees will meet at least 4 times a year. New trustees receive a copy of the constitution and training is undertaken where considered appropriate.

The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed and due to the nature of its activities do not believe that there are any.
