## **Reference and administration details** 

Teddington Methodist Circuit is in the London District of the Methodist Church. The Teddington Circuit is a Registered Charity – registration number 1149276. The address of the Circuit Office is: Teddington Methodist Circuit, 1 Stanley Road, Teddington, TW11 8TP 

## **Structure, governance and management** 

Teddington Methodist Circuit is constituted under the Methodist Church Act 1976. The day to day operational activity, constitutional practice, usage and discipline of the Circuit is regulated by the Constitutional Practice and Discipline of the Methodist Church and determined by Standing Orders as agreed by the annual Methodist Conference and published in the Minutes of Conference. 

The Circuit Meeting makes important decisions on a range of subjects, amongst which are circuit finances, circuit invitations and extensions.  The Circuit Meeting acts as Managing Trustee with the attendant responsibilities for each individual member.  The following were appointed in accordance with the Constitution of the Methodist Church, to serve during year ended 31 August 2022.

Denise Tomlinson as District Synod Secretary may attend the Circuit Meeting in an ex-officio capacity. 

At times of key decisions, the Chair reminds the members of the Circuit Meeting of their personal responsibility as trustees. 

Financial risk is assessed by the Finance Group which is made up of the Circuit Treasurer  and  five  Church  Treasurers.   The  budget  is  agreed  by  the  Circuit Meeting in advance of the start of the financial year. 



## **Objectives and activities** 

Circuit Mission Policy: 

POLICY:  To proclaim the Gospel in the Teddington Circuit; to express the love of Christ  in  word  and  deed  in  the  neighbourhood  and  to  support  the  Church worldwide. 

Rejoicing in our place in the Methodist Connexion, this will be achieved through: 

1. Supporting and encouraging "Our Calling" and enabling each local church to fulfil those aims within its local community; 

2. Giving leadership to and providing oversight for each church; 

3. Sustaining regular worship and teaching that is attractive, relevant and instructive for all ages; 

4. Building faith and witness through fellowship and training; 

5. Making more disciples of Jesus Christ 

6. Creating opportunities for churches of the circuit to worship, celebrate, grow, share and serve together; 

7. Offering pastoral care to all in the circuit., including staff members; 

8. Participating in the church’s mission throughout the world; 

9. Actively encouraging local ecumenical relationships; 

10. Engaging and taking action on Public Issues. 

11. Fostering distinctive social responsibility and environmental practices; 

12. Reviewing our Mission Policy every three years 

The Trustees of the Teddington Circuit normally meet three times a year, and on each occasion receive reports reviewing progress in achieving the objectives and vision of the Circuit.  The Circuit Leadership Team, comprising the two Ministers, Circuit Stewards and lay-worker, meet regularly to give focus to the conversation and  decision  making  process  of  the  Circuit  Meeting  and  final  decisions  are ratified or taken by the Managing Trustees. 

The Revd David A Innes joined the Circuit on 1 September 2017 and became Circuit  Superintendent  with  effect  from  1  September  2020.  Revd  Innes  has pastoral responsibility for the East Molesey and Teddington Churches. Revd Kan Wing-Chit Yu was stationed in the Circuit with effect from 1 September 2020 and has pastoral responsibility for the Hampton, Hanworth and Sunbury churches. 

A part time lay worker and a part time circuit administrator are employed on contracts approved by the Trustees based on advice from the London District Lay Employment Advisor. 

The financial accounts and reserves policy of Teddington Methodist Circuit are presented with this annual report in a form compatible with the Methodist Church Standard Form of Accounts for the year ended 31 August 2022.
