Trinity Church Parochial Church Council (the PCC} is 3 body corporate IPCC Powers Measure 1956.
and the Church Representation Ru* 20221. Even though the PCC is an exempted charily it has
voluntarily reglstered with the Charity Commission.
The method of apptxnlrnent of PCC members is Sel out in the Church Representstlon Rules. The
Council comprises Ihe Incumbent. the Churthwarden5, thos8 elected lo the Deanery Synod, and
other m8mbers are ele¢led at th8 Annual Parochlal Church meeb.ng by Ihose on the Electorgl
Roll. Mernbers of the congregation are always encouraged to I￿n th8 Electoral Roll, and to consider
standing for elèction to the PCC.
rhe PCC members are responsible for making decislons on all wnatters of general concern and
pcrtancg Sn the parish. and for 311 financial m."Jtters. The fvll PCC met six Ilmes during the year.
Given its wide responsibilities, the PCC has a number Ot sub committees, each dealing with

Th8 PCC has the responsibilrty of ¢ooperating with the Incumbent, the Rev'd Jonny Ervin, in
promoting in Ihe eccleslastical parish, the Who￿ mission of the Church. pastoral. evangellstic. stsrAal
and ecumenical.
Al Trinity our strapline is 'Knowing Christ and makin9 Christ known.. This shapes and directs all that
we - whether teaching and fellowship or outreach lo our community. The PCC and Ineumbenl
work together with Ihe church family to this end.
The PCC is co¥nmitted to enabling as Fnany people as possible lo woiship at our Church. 8nd to
become part of our parish family. When planning our activrtie5. the PCC has considered the Chanty
Commission'5 guidance on public benefit. 8nd ￿rticulartY the specific guidanco on charlli68 lor the
advancement of religion. Our services and worship put fallh into practice through prayer and scripture
music and sacrament. We try lo enable ordinary people lo live out their faith as part of our parish

The 9am congregation sees now p80ple coming on a regular basis. mostly through contattts at Trinity
8¢hool. This is one r83son why Rev'd Jonny Elvin priorilises leadlng the wee￿Y school assemblle8
there.
The 10.30am servicè and 7pm 'Dig Deeperf service have had sleady numbers. This year we declded,
in the light of our care and capacity reviews. that there woukl be no èvening services eilh8r SKI& of
each half lerm or end of tem and they would not happen during the school summer hdi¢ayE.
We ¢onlinue to stream on Youiubg the 10.30am service each Sunday. enabling us lo connect with
those rggulars wtto lor v8fKJUS ie8son5 can'l make il lo church. 11 has olso enabled us to serye wider
friends and family in Ihe UK and overseas.
From lime lo time. we have had joint all age servlces 01 the fir51 Sund8y of lh8 monlh.
On sunda￿ we run 6 children's groups- 3 al each moming congr8g8liDns. The Strong Roots groups
for &11 al Trinity SchoK)I has seen large numbers ol new children wming.
All this takes a g￿81 deal of effort. and wa ale grateful to tha teams who wort( tirelessly behind the
sc6ngS to make Ihe Sunday seNices and childran's and youth work happen throughout the year. We
are very thankful lo G(xY for the teams involved and Iheir deep commitment lo the well-being of ihe
church f8mily and the servlGe ol God

alled 'Bright ￿pe for tomorrow.
The Rev'd Jonny Elvln is particularfy gral•ful for the amaZ￿7g lepm of preachers who help u5 week by
week. Their drliggnce and I￿$￿0M has been a 9￿8t blessing for us as a church family.
We have continued to run our rnonthty church prayer me8bng on the first Tuesday ol each month. Tho
past year has bean an encouraging one in lerms of numbers attending and the depth of prayer
offered. We see It as Indlcalive of our dependence on God.
Church Pgrsonnel and Wider Church Mattars.
On Christmas Day 2024 we said goodbye to our curate Ollie Osbom. He is le8ving us lo lake up the
lola of Vicar of St. Patrick's Wallinglon In Southwaik Diocese. He has been such 8 blessing to us ovèr
Ihe past 3'A y8ars and we shall miss him and Ihe family very muoh.
We are Ihankful lo God that the DioGese have agreed that W8 can have a new curate from summer
2025. Toby Humphreys, CAJffently a student with Sl. Mellilus will take up the appoinlment. Curscies
wlll now be a year shorter, meaning thal Toby wll only be wfth us for be￿￿n 2 and 3 year5.

In 2024 Rl. Rev. Dr. Mik& Harrison was appointed as the 72nd Blshiw of Exeter. succeeding Rt. Rev.
Robert Atsvell. who haé served as DK)¢esan Bishop from 2014-2023.
The Rev'd Jonny Elvin and the PCC maintain a IradlliDnal view of marrkgge and conl(nu¢ to take
a(*on lo support Ihls viewpoint through the Church of England.
Dia¢è8an and Deanery Synod
A member of Trinity Church, Jonalhan Porter Goff was electéd to Diocesan Synod In July 2024. Any
porson 818c￿ lo DicKesan Synod also aulcvnalically becomes a member of their Deanery Swod and
Iheir PCC. Diocgs8n Synod meets 2-3 times per year and members ￿preSeTrts the vrews of Ihe
Deanery Synod and the PCC on which Ih8y 511.

School and St Peter's secondary School is supporled by members of oui church in the role ol School

We have ￿ntinued lo collect surpjus IcM)d from local supermarkets on seven daya a week. in
conjuncllon with the Neighbourly food wasle schame. We have 12 volunteers Irom the church and
community who help by ￿lleC11n9 the food and distributing It al the Newcourt Comrnunity Centrp and
Trinity School. This has been warmly welcomed by many in the community. Through11 we continue to
buSld friendshJ"p and have been able to invtte those we meat lo our other aclivilies.

2024 has seen our continued financial and player support of our 4 global mi&sion partnws. The
Christian Growth Fund ha5 not been 811¢)cated in 2024, and we ￿ntInue lo seek ways in which thi5
can bé accessed by those requidng support.
Small groups and Pastoral Care
Our small groups play a key rol8 in church life oflering opportunlties lo build friendships, grow in faith
8nLf support on? anofher. W8 have 10 srn811 groups meeOng mid-week ¢)J)rdinaled by Howard and
Dawn Cunnlnglon. We are grateful for the work o( Dawn and Howard and all our small group leaders.
In the wegk we have two hcime group stwe groups for youn9 p8cyle- Youth Homo G￿uP lage 13-15)
and Elovale for agg 1￿18. These provlde a great opportunity for Bible study. prayer arrf1 fellowship.
This year we also slart￿j a midweek daytlme meeting at Ik98 and have a growing awareness thal we
need lo supp¢)rt the older mernbw5 of our congregalicn in a rn0￿ Specrfic way.
Safryuarding
The PCC ha5 complied Vrfh the duty under secticn 5 of th8 S8feguardin9 and Clergy Oiscipline
Me8sure 2016 (duty to hav? regard lo Hou$e of Bishops, guhJanc8 on safeguardlng children and
vulnerable adults).
2024 has seen sorne hlgh-profile cases ol sexu81 abuse r8portaJ in the press. For u5 this has affimied
again th9 Importan￿ of safer recruitment practi￿$ and safeguarding procedures and policies.
Throughoul. we have been encoLiraged by th8 diocesan safeguarding legm that what we are doing is
meeting the requirern8nts 19 ensure the children. yY)ung people and vulnerable adults we cLxne into
contact with. indead all of our cthur¢h family. are as safe as we can m8ke Ihem. The leadership and
PCC are gr81eful to all those who wntinu8 lo starve aThJ strive to shar8 the go(￿1 nows with our
children and young people. keeplng them safe and being pos11ive role m¢yJels for Ihem
We 8re not complacent however. and safeguarding thntinues to be a focus al PCC meetings, traIn￿g
events wilh our ¢hildren's and youfft work volunteers afid in hom8 group leaders. rne81ings. In the
coming year, more of volunteers will be required lo complete Domeslic Abuse training Ihrough Ihe
CofE onllne training portal. Vve have established an agrÈed system that allaws young people lo start
helping wtth the tech team, that Ènsure5 safeguardlng matters are considered when they start to hÈlp.

Health and Safety
This year we continued to ensure Ihal our activitles ara carried oul safely and do not w5e a trsk to the
health ol our employees. vc>lunteers. congregations and visitors. This is in accordan￿ wlh good
praetice and any relevanl sl8lulory provisions where they apply. Practically this means that 811 chiirch
acllviles have an upto4Jatè rigk assessment. are approved by the PCC and h8ve a nominated
person in charge.

was due to dtffèrent activity in 2023 when we received B gTanl for the YMCA project of £8,100. We

Iri*n our weekend away in 2023. We also ran a fund-raising appe31 in 2023 which generated and
additional £12.862 in one off gifts. In 2024 regular giving was only £1,444 lower than in 2D23. Almost
all our giving cL)m85 from reoular rnonlhly donations Irom tha church family.
We madè pawnenls of £187.396 {2023 £204,469}- This is £17,073 1gSS tharb in 2023. This was again
(lown lo different aclivty. In 2023 spent £11,639 on church1tr8diThJ actNity. the majority of which w85
spend on our weekend away. In addition, we had slaff which cosl £25.670. We had neither of these
activities in 2024. However, these cos1 sav￿g$ were offset by increasing costs both In Comwnon Fun
ntribLrtions and other running costs.
In 2024 wg paid £95.338 in Common Fund {2023 £85.2751 lo the Diocese whlch helps IowaTds the
)st of clergy stipends. housing costs for the clergy. the training of curates 8nd the wider 8clivily of
the Dlocese. Thls is an increase of £10.063 ￿ 2023. We paid all of the ujnlribution that was asked
lor.
Overall, in 2024 we had a small surplus of £1.125. (2023 £12.347)- Total C8sh held at year end was
£138.914 of which only £3.170 was in reslficled funds.
Resorves Pollcy
Our reseNe$ remain healthy. The total cash held in unrestricted res8￿e$ at year end was £135.886.
The PCC holds these reserve5 for the lollowing reasons.
To manag8 cash flow by holding 3 monlhs wminy costs in resorve3 currentty estimated at
£50.000.
To provide support for our mission partners. We hold £5,000 to in unrestricted lunés to
provide supwrt in tirnes of unexpected need.
We atso hold £3.476 for spending on ¢yJr mlssion partners in 2025, This is from an
underspend on the 2024 mission partnei budgeL
Monies to fund our commilmant to tha YMCA pmject, £6.244

predicting a delicil of £15,000 approx.
