SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES
The chanty maintained and managed the building known as the Boothstown Village Hall and
made it available for use by the local community. The AGM was held in October and the
existing members of the Management Commrtlee all agreed to continue to serve and this
was approved by the meeting. The Management Committee meets six times a year and
oversees the running and Maintenan￿ of the building. The Management Committee has
also ensured Ihat health and safety policies and f1re risk assessments are in place and that
regular checks to fire alamis, extinguishers, lightning conductors etc. are carried out. The
premises are hired out to a school Breakfasl Club. an After School Club, and a Playgroup
during term time. Over this past year, we have also hosled Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Guides,
Brownies, a brass band. Baby Ballet, Bloom Babies, Baby yogalmassage, Pilates, yoga.
Irish dancing, badminton and table tennis, karate, glass fvsion. Repair Cafe. various Wl and
church groups, a tutor group and a group teaching early years phonics. These are all regular
hirers. We also host occasional hirers. Parties (esFecially for children) remain very popular.
The Vintage Tea Rooms, which have become an established part of communty life, are held
three times a year with the pro￿ed$ going to church funds. At the Christmas Tea Room we
welcomed Father Christmas who was extremely popular with local families and brought new
people into the hall. The building is opened to the whole communrty for the Heritage Open
Days each September. This year, to ￿lebrate 150 Yea￿ since the building first Opened as
the village school, we mounted a number of speaal exhibitions. Various works have been
carried out to maintain and renew the premises. However, because we are still liaising with
Manchester Diocese concerning the renewal of our lease, major works have been put on
hold until this issue is resolved. The situation the lease has continued for a number of
years but at last some progress is being made. Some smaller projects have been completed
including new storage cupboards, replacemerrt of outdoor lights, work on the OLrt houses,
particularly their roofs and repair to cracked stonework on the main building. We aim to
continue to maintain, renew, decorate and reorder the premises. We have already started to
advertise more widely using social media and will continue to explore this method of
contacting people in the communty, to enWUr￿e attendance at events and to encourage
new hirers.
