REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 JULY 2021
The Trustees, who are also Directors of the Charity for the purposes of the Companies
Act 2006, present their report with ￿ Financial Staternents of the Charity for the year
ended 31 July 2021. The Trustees have adopted the provisions of the Ststement of
Recommended Practi￿ for Accounting and Reporting by Charities preparing their
accounts in accordance wrth Financial Reporting Standard applicable in Ihe UK and
Republic of Irelarjd (FRS 102) effective 1st January 2015.

limtted by guararrtee {registered in England and Wates. Company No. 08098399) on 8
June 2012 and was registered with tr￿ CkMrity Commiss•oners (Charity number
1149169 on 2 October 2012.
Recruitment and appolntment of new trustees
As set out in the Articles of Association, trustees otherthan t￿se reb'ring by rotation
can only be appointed at a general m￿tIng rf (1) they ar8 recommended by existing
trustees or (2) the required noti￿ has been given by a member entitled to vote of the
intention to propose that person as a trustee and the required notice has been gNen to
those entided to re￿1ve notice of the meetirKJ.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims of the Company are:
1. to promote the tenefft of the inhabitants of Boothstown without dists"nction of sex.
sexual orientation. age, disabilrty, nationalty, race or of wlrtical, religious or other
opinions. by assoaating together the said inhabilants and the ststutory authoritEs,
voluntary and other organiSat￿nS in a ￿mmOn effort to advance edUca￿n and to
provide facilittes in the interests of social vleffare for recreation and leisure-time
occupation with objed of inproving conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
2. to establish. or secure the establishment of, a Communty Centre and to mairrtain
arKI manage the same (whether alone or in co<￿eratIon with any stattrtory authority
or other person or body) in furtheran￿ of the Objects..
3. to promote such other wrposes as are thartlable according to ￿ laws of England
and Wales for the benefft of the publFC as may from time to tine be detemined.
The Charity shall be non-party in politics non-sectarHn in religion.

SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES
The charÉty maintained and managed the building known as ts Booth*own Village
Hall and made it available for use by IoL21 L7)mmunity.
The continuing coronavirus pandemic has massively affeded our activittes. The last
AGM was hehd later than nonnal in March 2021 via Zoom.
STrn￿ then one Management Commtttee meeting has been held. also via Zoom, with
the next one scheduled for September. The committee has kept in touch primarily by
email and has still successfully continued to oversee the running and rna1ntenan￿ of
the buikling. The Management Committee has also ensured that heatth and safety
policies and fire risk assessments are in Pla￿ and that regular checks to fire alatms.
extinguishers, I￿h1￿lng corKludors etc. a￿ carried out. In normal timès Ihe premises
are hired out to a school Breakfast Club, an After School Club, and a Playgroup during
tenn time. We also host Scx)uts, Cubs, Beavers. GuKles, Brownies. a brass band, Baby
Ballet, karate, badminton, tsble tennis, yoga, Bloom Bab￿5, Sweaty Mamas. Bollywosxl
dance a￿1 exercise, a phonics group. Repair Cafe, and two sewing groups HOwe￿r
only some of these groups have rettJm&l and they have done so following govemment
Covid guidelines. The hall is also used for parties (mosty children's) at tt)e weeke￿1
and there are other OC￿l(￿al hirer5. Children's part￿$ resumed in July. aloru with
other occasional hires.
We a￿ planning to hold Heritage Open Days in September and possibly a Vintage Tea
Room at Christmas. We held none of our usual events during the pandemiG.
Fewer improvements to the building have taken plaGe recently althO￿h some small
repairs have been c2rried OUL are working on the exterior doors to make them
more secure and watertight and hope to have the fascias repaired and painted very
Soon. Plans are afoot to convert one or two of the out houses into craft workshops.
We are still liaisitvJ with Manchester DKx*se COn￿ming the renewal of c￿r lease for
the Village Hall.
We aim to continue to mawtsin, upgr*. decor* arKI re￿￿er the premises. We have
already started to advertise more wKJety using SOCAal media and will continue to exph)re
this meth¢xI of contactiThJ people in the communty, to encourage attendan￿ at events
and to encourage new hirers. We have had a websrte set up. Vle seek to improve
our experts.se in this a￿a.
COVID-19
The Trustees have tt>nswJered the likely impad of the (￿r￿t COVILk19 pandemic on
the activities carried out and provided by the AsscKiation. The Trustees believe that
there a￿ SLrficient reserves available to ensure the viabilty of the Assoctation through
the current financial year and that the Association will be in a position to resume normal
actsvities as soon as ￿nditionS allow.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
The results for 2021 show that tharity had a surplus forthe year of £7,817 (2020
deficit of £7,620). The accumulated reserves of £65,307 will be used to cary out further
ne￿SSary remedial work to ts bulkI￿g.
RESERVES POLICY
The Policy is to hokl at ￿ast £5,0(MJ of reserves to ensure that there are sufficient funds
to meet any unexpected ne￿Sary expense.

STATEMEKf OFTRUSTEES RESPONSIBIUTIES
The trustses (who are also the directors of BOOTHSTOWN VILLAGE HALL
ASSOCIATION for the purposes of company law) are responsible for preparing the
Report of the Trustees and the financial ststements in accordan￿ with applicable law
and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (Unitéd Kingdom Generally Accepted
Accounting Pra￿1￿).
Company law requires the t￿￿tee$ to prepare financial statements for eath financial
year which give a tnJe and fair view of the state of affairs of the tharTtable company and
of the incoming resources and application of resources. induding the wicxjme arKI
experKlrture, of the charitable c£)mpany for that pwd. In preparing those financial
statements, the ttustees are required to:
select suitable acwunting policies and then ap￿ them consistentty. observe the
methods and pnnciples in the Charity SORP..
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and pnjdent
prepare the financial statements on the goiThJ tsjncem ba&s unless it is inappropriate to
presume that the L*aritable company will continue in t￿sIness.
The trustees are resFK)rtsible for Iwing proKEr accountirvJ records which disdose with
reasonabte accuracy at any twne the financial position of the charitable company and to
enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act
2006. They are also responstsle for safeguardiTrJ the assets of the charitable LX)mpany
and hen￿ for ta￿n9 reasonable steps for the prevention arkd detection of fraud arxj
other irregularities.

the trustees have taken all steps that they ought to have taken to make themselves
aware of any relevant infomiation and to establish that the independent examiners are
aware of that infomiation.

I report on the financial statements of BOOTHSTOWN VILLAGE HALL ASSOCIATION
for the Year ended 31 July 2021 set out on pages 5 - 9. which ￿)mPrISe the Statement
of Financial A¢#ivtties, the Balan￿ Sheet and the ￿lated Notes. These Financial
Statements have been prepared under the historitsl cost convents)n and the
accountyig polic4es sét out therein.
Respectivg responsibilitios of Trustees and IndeperKlent Examin
The trustees (who are also the directors of the company for the purp)ses of ccmpany
law) are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The chariVs ttustees consider
that an audtt is not required for this year under ser*on 144 of the CharTties Act 2011
(the Charities Ad) and that an inde￿ndent examw)ation is needed.

procedures undertaken do not provide all the evNJence that would be required in an
