The new Empowerment Circle project was designed lo create shift in our Service, with more focus on enabling the vulnerable women we support, We aimed lo reduce our advocacy work and hands on support. putting moré résources into onè-loqonè coaching sessions and group work. 11 proved lo be challenging both for the project staff and for our service users. We airned to provide Advocacy lo only 100 clienls thi5 year bul ended providing support lo 328 worn8n. In addition, 43 New Domestic Abuse cases were supported over the year and 59 chilE1ren werè Involvod. 01 thèsè womèn, 23 of them had no recoufse lo public fund8 and 41 of the Indivlduals had English as a second language. Nonglheless, we have gone ahead and done all our planned activities for this year with som8 am82ing progres5 by our servic8 US8rs. Wa dg1ivef9d 31 training courses, eng89lng a communlly which is traditionally hard lo engagelmolivale. In addition, 99 women were supported lo complete 5e114evelopmenl plans helping them lo clarify thèir goals and reach their asplralions of whom 19 women took up volunteering and 15 wornen were 5UPPOrted into paid work. Thi5 year 33 wom&n completed Ihebr BS.lingual and Culturally sp8cili¢ Counselling with us and 22 women are still in receipt ol ¢oun8elling. Results collated from our end of couns8lling evaluation showgd that.. 0 87% 01 the woman rg$pontJgd that couns&lllng had helped a gr&al lo deal with their worries. 0 93% 01 women ratsd their mental wellbeing all8r counselling as better than bgfore. 0 91Qh ol the women sald that they found counselling lo be very holpful. The co$l-of-living crisi8 has been the bigge8t change. We find ourselves completing hous8hold support fund forms alm051 daily for clients in need. which is useful to Ihe clients bul al the same litne. il is liffje consuming. The worklood for the stall le8m has Increased due lo Ihis consecullve hlgher demand for advocacy support madg wors& by the rising cost of living crisis and our clien15 high needs for advocacy due to languagg barriers an¢J a very l¢)w leve18 01 education. We were able lo secure fund$ to work with more young womén this year. We dèlivered group acti￿711e5 10 36 girls in 3 $8condary 9chool8 prowding them wllh opporlunilies lo develop their confidence and self. esteem. Our Holiday Activities & Food Programme IHAFI sessions delivered to 56 children in receipt of frae School meals in the school holidays. Most of these children from singlo parenl hous&holds and most had experienced some form of Domestic Abuse. Our Soulh Asian Elder8 project aims lo support older people by improving their wellbeing, reducing social Isolation and loneline55 and in reducing In8qualilies in thair acc8SS to seNces. Elder Cafè group 6e88ion8 and activities were accessed by 57 ¢lignl$ lo alleviate lonellness andlor isolation, ol whom 40 were elders from the Bangladeshi comrnunlly in Sheffield. This year, we also undertook Digital training wilh the elderfy 8angl8dèshi women living in thè D8m811 area of the city. These sessions proved to be very popular, providing an opportunlly lo develop skills as well as providing a means of reducing isolation and loneliness arnongsl elders in the city. We have also been undertaking weekly chair aerobics over zoom in response lo women's health concerns and feelings of isol81ionldepres5ion. We were also suecèssfLJIIy 8ble lo 18unch Roshni Kitchen this year, our new social enlerprise café. Roshni lfjtchen Is an exciting new venture which is all about providing healthy and nulrilious Asian food lo the public, delivered by our volunteers, who will be using the c8fè buslness as a training ground.
