TEAMS Charity No. 1148650
The trustees of TEAMS present their annual report for year ending May 2021 and confirm that they comply with requirements of the charities act 1993. In setting our objectives and planning our activities the trustees have considered the charity commissions general guidance on public benefit and appropriate deployment of funds raised.
Our Mission
TEAMS stands for Together Everyone Achieves More Success: by mobilising the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors in achieving a wide range of objectives in the community.
Aims
To develop the TEAMS initiative further with members of the community whose common goal is to improve community cohesion, empower youngsters who wish to pursue professional and business careers.
We will continue to work in partnerships with other reputable organisations within the Charity sector.
The projects we have been involved with during the year are:
1) The City Retreat Collaboration
TEAMS have continued to work with City Retreat throughout the year and supported the following activities:
-
Fundraising
-
Staff Training and Mentoring
-
Building and design work support especially the social café model
-
Food for the homeless
-
Syrian Refugee Support afternoons and lunches
-
Coffee mornings are on-going including taking the Macmillan fundraising and general engagement with people from all walks of life
-
Young persons provided with support for career and mentoring and project support
-
English/Arabic classes
This was the only project carried forward from previous years through either natural project termination or restrictions incurred through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Other Activities
Responding to COVID-19 locally and travel restrictions meant that most of our activities were locally based with the primary focus being the feeding of people effected by the pandemic and providing financial support to resolve health related issues. This included the provision of COVID MEALS, with support from Leicestershire County Council to the vulnerable members of the community throughout the pandemic.
Overseas this support included working with the Muslim Charity, Syrian Relief and Healing Little Hearts through donations.
In the UK in addition to COVID-19 and City Retreat we worked with Drop of Compassion.
COVID-19 forced us to consider the future direction of the charity which will be addressed through a restructuring of the constitution and new trustees and the removal several volunteers who are unable to continue. These will be documented in future meetings and the relevant changes reported to the Charities Commission in due course.
