## **AGM Report 2021/22** ## **Chairs Comments** We were glad to have COVID 19 restrictions lifted and some community activity resume albeit in a limited way. This year has been difficult in many ways. Sadly, we’ve lost a number of elderly community activists who have devoted many years of their lives for community benefits. We pray that their soul rest in peace. Our efforts to establish the PCC as a vaccination centre have been very fruitful both in terms of bringing in the most needed finances but more importantly, in encouraging more people from minority communities to take up vaccination. As always, we are looking for people who may be interested in joining our management committee or team of our volunteers to help us provide the much needed services to deprived communities in Oldham. Please get in touch with me or other members of the management committee, your help and support will be very welcomed. I want to thank our staff, volunteers and the management committee members for their continuous support and efforts in bringing new resources into the centre. These were very well attended. ## **Pakistan Independence Day** We are really grateful to all our volunteers and committee members for organising Pakistan independence day celebrations. Thanks also to community members and local councillors Mohammed Alyas, Shoab Akhtar, Aftab Hussain, Aqeel salamat and Yasmin Toor for attending. 14[th] August 2021 was another busy day at the centre with ESOL class in the morning, then GM Police Central team surgery, children play activities and sports activities in the afternoon, followed by men's shootball in the evening. ## NADRA Card Surgeries We have continued to work with a number of councillors to provide these surgeries. More than 200 applications for National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) were submitted at each of the four surgeries arranged during 2021/22. We are once again grateful for all the help and assistance provided by our volunteers, management committee members and councillors. We wold like to thank councillors Aftab Hussain, Mohammed Alyas, Yasin Toor and Aqeel Salamat for their invaluable contributions. ## BAME connect As we have previously reported, BAME connect is a partnership project with Fatima Womens’ Association, OAK project, Vision and Westwood & Coldhurst Womens’ Welfare Association. PCC is one of the three central community hubs used to provide a range of activities to reduce social isolation particularly within the elderly Asian men and women.
