## **Creative Director and Chair’s Report**

I am delighted to report that the year 2020-2021, despite Brexit and COVID, was a year of solid performance at NICOLA through online sessions.

Our main activity has continued to be training and development of young people (mainly online) in music, dance, arts and arts job skills, concentrating mainly in helping them to prepare plans for the after COVID, by online mentoring and leadership sessions learning skills in planning, running and create Solo Trader or Company business, media communication and brand promotion; this allowed them to keep busy during the lockdown while using that time to reflect and create their future plans. The quality of our services has remained high; helping young people to improve their lives, providing a supportive environment to allow them to develop their personalities, their talents, preparing and helping them to build their self confidence, to find suitable education and/or employment both in the artistic field and outside or to run their own business or Social Enterprise. Keeping their mind busy, on positive initiatives, has also helped them not to fully suffer the COVID restriction's crisis followed by mental health problems.

The support from the European Commission through the British Council and Ecorys has run through this year assuring us projects till the end of 2021. Our relationship with Housing Associations, local Youth Clubs, Youth Hostels, The K&C Foundation, Chelsea Football Club Foundation and Volunteering Centres has increased as we supported each other through online interaction in those hard times. In addition we have also receive private donors funding supports and were offered a free POP UP shop by Hatton Garden Proprieties Ltd in November 2020, the local support was amazing, we received a great deal of donations, which enable us to set the shop in less than a week, creating an artist innovative shop where artisans can sell their creation while recycling and up-cycling is highly promoted. We believe that this can be NICOLA future way to generate income to support our youth. https://www.facebook.com/marco.colombo.london/videos/10165179159390305

At NICOLA centre we also have a fully equipped recording studio for the young people personal and professional growing/development, which was not use the entire year. Our weekly car-boot selling was stopped due to COVID.

As always we put particular effort into working with young people w socio/economic obstacles who cannot afford professional training. We enga and facilitate learning in a non-formal way and prepare young people for after their interaction with NICOLA. In order to achieve this, we make sure work closely with our local community, youth clubs, Housing Associations a like-minded Organisations. All our work was done online as much as we cou

NICOLA engages young people aged between 13 to 25 and up to 30 years through the Erasmus+ projects. Due to the fact that our young people p and deliver the projects, it enable them to be in charge of those projects, g the chance to many of them to progress further education or employme becoming mentors to other young people and/or start their own freelan work or Company.

We are very grateful to our young interns and volunteers for their dedicat and commitment to NICOLA and are very happy that many of them gain paid jobs as result of practice and growing in confidence while at the Char Our strong relationship with Universities in London and Europe has enabled to accommodate just graduated students giving them the chance to explo the professional work through a friendly environment. We still keep a creat connection between disadvantage youths from London and Leeds, with t endorsement of celebrity dancer "Sadie Flower". We have planned f projects with the young people and we hope to receive financial support ve soon.

Our young people continue to plan and apply for funding and always look ways to improve and develop positive initiatives. They are meetings on regular basis. Our work would not have been possible without t professionalism and dedication of our volunteers and free-lances.

Good working relationships and practices have been developed with t British Youth Council, Ecorys, Schools, Youth Clubs, Arts groups a Municipalities all around Europe. NICOLA through the Erasmus+ projects h also developed strong relation with likeminded Youth Organisations a Institutions around the globe.

In November 2020 we accommodate a Turkish young person, in London, through the Young Entrepreneur program; we also had more than 20 selffunded interns. Our members were 100% involved in the planning of the projects.

NICOLA is still very young, but we are looking at ways to improve our financial and structural methods and look at ways to grow bigger and better and serve further young people.

Special thanks will go to our Trustees who are investing their time to assure that NICOLA reaches the best practise possible.

We report on the accounts of **New International Company of Live Arts** for the year ended 31 March 2021

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

The trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 (2) of the charities Act 2011 and that an independent examination is needed.

Having been satisfied that the charity is not subject to audit under company law and is eligible for independent examination, it is my responsibility to:

Examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act

To follow the procedures laid down in General Direction given by the Charity commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act and

An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanation from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and report is limted to those matters set out in the statement below.

## **Independent examiner's statement**

In connection with our examination, no matter has come to our attention: (a)to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 130 of the Charities Act and (b)to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with accounting requirements of theAct have not been met
