The Charity'8 annual report and accounts for the year ended 31 August 2024 have
been prepared in accordance with the Ch8Tllles Act 2011 and the Charilies.. Statement
of Recommended Pracllce 2019 as appllcable to the Financial Reporting Slandard
FRS102.
The goveming document Is the Dèed of Union11932) adopted Seplemb8r 1932 and
the Methodlst Church Act {1976).

Structure governance and management
The Circull Is governed in accordance with th8 Constitutional Practi￿ and Discipllne of
the Melhodisl Church.. its organisation is structured around Ihe drcuit meeting that
meets at least twice a year.
The circult meeting is supported by regular me8tings of the Circuit Leadership Team
{CLT) lo conduct day-to-day business and considers matters lo be brought to tha
circult meeting. The CLT consists of all Ordained Minlsters, Lay Workers, and the
Circuit Stewards.
The Local Preachers meeting is held quarterly lo consider the worshlp lifè of the
church and consists of all ordained mlnlslers, local preachers, and worship leaders.
Th8 Clrcuil Meeting may also set up other groups and committees to deal with speclflc
tasks that may arise.

The CSroull's principle objectives and actlvlties are to enable its churches lo work
towards thelr vision of deepening their Chrisllan faith and to reach out to other8 by
sharing the good news of Jesus Chrlsl.
The Circult provldès staff. preachers, educatlon, and pastoral overslghl which enables
the local churches lo provide Chrlsllan worshSp, spiritual development, and pastoral
care both lo church members and the wider community.
The Clrcuit agrees prop&rty and financial policles that help churches focus on Ihelr
core business.. bullding the kingdom of God through transformed lives as disclples of
Christ.

hollness, by encouraglng its membèrs lo make dlsciples and lo work for social ju81ice.
The trustees confirm that they have referred to thè guidance contalned in the Charlty
Commissions general guldan¢e on publlc benefit when revi&wlng the Charity's aims
and objectives.
Aehlevemenls and perforn)anco and futuro
All church8s have returnèd to nonnal live 5eTvices although some are contlnuing to
provlde online services.
Unfortunately we were unable to secure an Acllve Supernumerary Minister, part-time to
replace Rev Frances Balham in September 2024. Inl8rim plans have had to be put in
place lo cover 2024125.
Some churches are still stwggling with personnel to do jobs and finance. Two churches
are of Concern but steps are being taken to strengthen their position. One church look
the decision lo cease lo be a Methodist Church in May 2024 due to low mèmbership.
They sold their building a number of years ago and still meet together to worship locally.

Many other churches are now back lo fvll strèngth and fulfilling the mlsslon In théir
respective areas. which is encouraging.
Property
Cowes Church.. the building was market8d in Autumn 2023. We have
received an offer and are waiting for completion.
Shorwell Church followlng the meryer with Brighslone th8 building has been
marketefj and we are waiting for completion.
The Wootton Bridge manse Is now back on the market after a sale falling
through.
The other clrcull manses are all well malnlalned. Includlng hvo manses that
are let- Ryde and Bèmbrldge.
Most church premlses are well malnlalned and used provldlng a wlde range
of worship and activlti88 In thelr respective communI￿&s.
s￿la1 and community actlvllles have been undertaken wlth othér charltles and churches
and group of churches working together through the 88gis of local Churches Together
Groups. Much of Ihis work has returned followlng lockdown.
The clrcult continues to beneth't from thè work of the I¢Jc81 preachers and th088 In
training.

Reserv•8 Pollcy
The Circuit's objectivas and activiti8s are to facilitate sharlng of resources amongst
the local churches lo empower them to functlon as effectlve, witn&ss, misslon and
carfng centres.

Provides ministerial oversight for the 17 churches within th8 Clrcuit
Employs lay staff to support the activities of the Circuit
Maintains a portfolio of mansès across the cir¢ull lo provSde resldontl81
accommodation for mSnisters. Surplus accommodallon Is lenanled to generate
Incom8 for inveslmenl In th8 manse portfolio.
The activitiès are funded by assessments on the churches in the Circuit which are
reviewed annually.
In selling Its budget for the year the Circult Meetlng conslders the prolecled impact
of changes in staffing levels.
The currenl18vel of general reserves is £63,254 and propety fund ar& £18,992 glving
the Circuit adequate funds or mèel commitments over the coming year.

Taking into consideration all the above factors th8 ¢1￿ult aims to hold in th9
General and Pmpety Fund the sum of around £80.000 being roughly 3 months
expenditure.
9.7 The Model Trust Fund at £125.273. £65,000 of which will be us&d ovér Ihe next
year to fund staffing as the Circu￿ dèvelops new styles of mission and ministry.

£350,000 to be repald from th& sale of the Woollon Manse.
