Dear Hinckley U3a member,
2025 AGM
This has been another busy year for Hinckley U3a. We have had a new Chairman and Treasurer and enrolled our 600[th] member.
Our current Secretary took over the role in November 2024. Also, wearing a Publicity Adviser hat, meetings with aligned organisations and advertising have hopefully brought our organisation to the attention of more people who can benefit from what Hinckley U3a has to offer. Many thanks to Freddie Dawe.
I am pleased to report that over the past year we have consistently gained new members, and the current total is 607 – that’s 136 new members over the last year. The number of members who have currently not renewed is 323, but the final number will not definitely be known until the end of May.
Our Facebook page continues to gain popularity, and our current total of Facebook members is 181 – around 30% of our total membership. We now also have a Facebook page which has 120 followers. Many thanks to Sue Kyte and Richard Chamberlain.
Our Finances remain healthy, with the Receipts and Payments report showing how we have done. Many thanks to Bethan Moore.
Subs have regrettably been increased to £20 to cover rising costs.
Our members continue to benefit from our trips which continue to be planned to varied places of interest. These are published in the newsletter and are also available on our website. Recently, we have opened these trips to non-members to increase take up of places. Many thanks to Viv Hennessy.
There is a host of volunteers working hard in the background to make everything happen from group meetings through to the general meetings. Not all members wish to be on the committee or be group leaders but those who sell books and jigsaw puzzles to name but two are just as important to our U3a. Many thanks to all of you unsung heroes.
Our Asset Register was compiled during October 2024. PAT testing was conducted during the Register compilation in October. Many thanks to Paul Cooney.
Our web pages and IT infrastructure were kept in peak performance throughout the year. We have also been able to purchase two new laptops to replace our existing ageing machines. Many thanks to John Langham.
