The organisation is governed by a Trust Deed dated 26 January 2012 and amended on 19 July 2012.

Appointment and Recruitment of Trustees

The organisation is run by the trustees who all act in an honorary capacity. New trustees are appointed, when needed, on the basis of personal competence, specialist skills, local availability and their ability to promote the charitable activities of any institution professing and teaching the principles of traditional Judaism and the advancement of the religion in accordance with the Jewish faith. New trustees are inducted into the workings of the charity by the current trustees.

Risk Management

The trustees have identified and reviewed the major risks to which the Trust is exposed, in particular those related to the operations and finance of the Trust, and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate those risks.

Trustees' Annual Report (continued)

Year ended 28 February 2021

Objectives and activities

The charity was established for the purpose of advancement and furtherance of the Jewish religion and Jewish religious education in general and in particular by supporting the institutions of the Jewish Community of Cyprus under the auspices of the Chief Rabbi of Cyprus, and providing facilities for public religious worship and such other services and activities incidental thereto.

The income of the charity is derived from donations from individuals and charitable institutions. The Charity utilises its income to make grants and donations to further the charitable objectives stated above.

The trustees confirm that they have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the Charity's aims and objectives and in planning future activities and setting the grant making policy for the year.

Achievements and performance

During the year the charity continued its activities and raised funds with object of continuing its support of institutions and activities of the Jewish Community of Cyprus under the auspices of the Chief Rabbi of Cyprus. The funds raised were used for the stated objects of the charity.

Financial review

Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of BRITISH FRIENDS OF JEWISH COMMUNITY CYPRUS CHARITABLE TRUST

Year ended 28 February 2021

I report to the trustees on my examination of the financial statements of British Friends of Jewish Community Cyprus Charitable Trust ('the charity') for the year ended 28 February 2021.

Responsibilities and basis of report

The trustees (who are also the directors of the company for the purposes of company law) are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

Independent examiner's statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
