SYCT relies on a mixture of fundraised and eamed income to enable it to provide a range of services
to children and young people in Streatham. Without the generosity of individual donors and the

Historicalty SYCT has adopted a dNerse income generation strategy comprising of..
Commissioned income for the ddivery ol services
Small and large grants for short, medium and long tem) projects
Individual donations from local supporters
Earned income from room hire. sports facilrties. charity shop sales and nursery delivery
SYCT is currently reviewing f¢s income generation strategy atongside the overall strategic direction
of the organisation.
4. FINANCIAL REVIEW
SYCT reported a deficit of £177.611 for the year ended 30 September 2023. This deficit wa$
£160k greater than the previous year. The increase was due to a range of factors affecting both
the charty's income and expenses, principally a reduction of £114k in grant income attributed in
large part lo a more challenging funding environment for charities and the non-recurring nalure of
some grants secured in 2022 in the aftemialh of COVID and increased costs associated wilh the
delivery of front-line services in a safe and sustainable way. Exceptional granl support during
COVID meant that the deficit outcome could be funded without culbacks that rnighl otherwise have
been warranted. The Trustees continue to closely monitor the finances and are pleased to report
that the financial position has since improved such that there is no short to medium lemi threat to
front line services and indeed the hope is that they can continue to devebp and build them in the
face of increasing communty needs.
The balance sheet reflects a decrease in nel assets equwalent to the reFQrted deficit of £177.611.
Nel assets al 30 Seplernber 2023 amounted to £1,143.889 of which £862.139 is represented by
the value of fixed assets. neaty all of which is OFeratb)nal land and buildings.
