BInnIn￿3M Cty Counul issued a seclion 114 nOt￿t C￿ Sapternber 5. 2023. which means it has halted an spending
except on essential sèmces suth as Sthooling, housing, sooal Caro, waste coll&dion and Toad mainienanL*. This
has dI￿dY impacted the financEs of Advo(xcy Matters Wth a rJJl to the hourfy rdte paid to us by BCC. It ha5 also
adversely affected the utizens we supporl wlth Ihe potential for sw¢z wo¥i$ion being cul to disabbed people. This
has atso created a larger demand for advocacy support.
Re￿￿lIment has not been an k8sue in Ihe last financtal year, arHI we wain fully staffed to meet tho n¢ed$ of all
tntrads and projects. Safeguarding issues remain prevalent wthin all Wole￿$. We ¢onlinue to Support advo¢acy
partnefs in increasing situations of atsjse. Whilst these cases have resuhed In ihe greaier 8wareness of SLKh
Problems and have also resulled in the improvèment ol salewarding procedur8s and in the scrutiny of care
PTwder5. progre53 hag been frustratingly slow. and the demand never deueas85. Inddents suth a$ these. whith
ran often lead to protTa¢J8d inveslualions, ernphasise the need kbr greater diligence and the importance of
intlependent advocacy.
As a result of Ihe independent advocacy provided by AdV0￿cY Matter5, taTe pThision and finanrial ￿TangeTh￿nts
are oftèn challértgÈd. ènablng individuals to be hea¥d who mitht not otheThvise have a voice control.
In January 2024 ALfvocacy Mattws hosted our second socAal work student plac*ment from Biningham UrN¥eTSity.
Rtya is studwng lo be a social workor and was in her fjrst year. She is bright and engaglng and has added a INely
addition to the leam until hw placement ends in May 2025.
A¢fvo¢acy Maffers were awarded the QPM In July 2023 for 3 years. We will need to begln the prcttss of renewal
October 2025.

On 18th &Jril 2024 we had a staff team awayday at Ihe National Arboretum Stsffofd$hife. We h8d team buildin
exeroseB and acti¥ilt88. Thi$ was a welccffle feward to the staff team after a y¥ar of very hard WO￿ and
high caseloads.
In ￿ne 2024 we held wr se(xind Voluntger Pamper Day lo twiniido wilh voluntser's week. We held tri$ ebtnl at
the local methodist hall as a thank you to all Quf deithtated voluntew$. Volunteers and wider members ol the public
came along and evrie￿d altemative Iheraples. suth a8 hand massage. wng washing and mindfvlness and
musi& Them was ￿3t•d yoga fcf those that coubj pwticipate.
September 2024 due lo the reduction in funding hours on the Binningham ProjeL1 we began lo take some
spot puichase work from Biniingham aro Solihull ICB. This work wa5 to provide the 1.2 Rep role to indiwidu8Js
deprived 011heir Ilbety In Iheir homes.
October 2024 saw the beginning of wr cty-wide befriending offer. We have been able to develop and grow the new
proied wlh the supwrt ol our volunteers and have be¥n prwdin9 befrI￿dIng support and engaging a¢twrties lo
older adults without family Iwing in care home setting5. Th￿ has been fvnded fty th￿e years by The National
Lottery Ccthmunity fijnd. We launthed Ihis project in the offir* in ow trairing fotsm on the 18th of Odober 2024,
this was well attended. People and oldei adults attending got to ty some of our b•fri•nding actilities, suth as
flower arranging. ceramic painting pawrt by numbeJs.

Act, IMCA. and a part of the My Side projects. In additson. anolher stalLknry advocacy ènd some noTrstatulory
