ANNUAL REPORT 2024-25
Shah Din Welfare association was founded by Dr Muhammad Saleem in June 2012 as a founding chairman. Dr M Saleem obtained his basic medical degree from Nishtar Medical College/University, Multan, Pakistan.
Nishtar Medical College now University is one of the most prestigious institutes in Pakistan. He became Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow (FRCS) in 1994 and then entered University College London to complete Diploma in Urology. He is practicing as a Consultant Urological Surgeon in NHS .
Dr Saleem always wanted to contribute towards the advancement of the health and education of the poor people in Pakistan particularly the people of the area where he grew up and had his basic education. Dr Saleem has reached to a stage in his life where he can afford such a charitable work and then decided to register the charity with the Charity Commission UK in 2012 and started funding this charity through his own means.
Dr Saleem has donated 2 acres land to build a charity Hospital at a prime location in his home town called Khanewal in south Punjab, Pakistan. It is a prime location and easily accessible by road, train and air. This charity Hospital will be enjoying a support of tertiary centre Nishtar Medical University Hospital that is approximately half an hour away.
The construction works has been started since December 2019. The hospital building has basement plus three floors. The building has been erected as documented below and now internal work such as electricity, computer networking, CCTV networking and fire alarm system is completed. Dr Saleem as a chairman of the SWA UK charity has paid regular visits to the Hospital and watched the progress very closely. I have visited the project site 3 times during 2025. My last visit was in November, 2025 to witness the progress of construction work.
I am glade to state that I am satisfied with the work progress and noticed that they have reached to stage where main entrance road and plantation on both sides of the entrance road is underway. The road is 220 feet long from entrance gate to the entrance of the hospital and is going to have date palm trees on both sides and hedges. The grass seed is being spread in the lawns to make it green and elegant.
Ground floor: It has outpatient department, Pharmacy and Renal dialysis unit. Renal unit will have facility for 10 patients to have dialysis at one time.
First Floor: It has operation theatres, recovery unite, ITU and HDU. It also has Eye Unit comprises Pre-Operation room, Operation theatre and post-operation ward. The trustees had a discussion to change the use of this part of hospital to much more needed Orthopaedic surgery but final decision remains to be made.
Second Floor: This floor has male and female wards. It has side rooms for the patients as well.
Basement: Basement has HR department and Diagnostic unit. The trustees had a discussion in a meeting to change the use of basement of hospital to much more needed Paramedical College but further brain storming is needed.
SWA UK has been releasing funds as per progress of the building and will continue to do so.

The Chairman’s Report
During the 12 th year of the charity the main focus was to keep raising enough
funds to complete the construction of the hospital.
I am delighted to announce that the charity has raised twenty five thousand and nine hundred and
forty nine pound sterling (£25,949.00) during the 12 months.
It is very humbling year of the SWA UK and has given confidence in the future of the charity
considering.
The local people in Pakistan are heavily involved in this project and
are prepared to give their time and efforts to make it a success story.
I would like to praise Dr Nadeem Rao GP in Australia who have taken time to visit hospital and given some valuable suggestions.
SWA UK has released £30,000.00 through bank transaction during this year. Further funds will be released in coming months after visiting and assessing the progress of the hospital building and external work as mentioned above.
