## ANNUAL REPORT 2023-24

Shah Din Welfare association was founded by Dr Muhammad Saleem in June 2012 as a founding chairman. Dr M Saleem obtained his basic medical degree from Nishtar Medical College/University, Multan, Pakistan.

Nishtar Medical College now University is one of the most prestigious institutes in Pakistan. He became Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow (FRCS) in 1994 and then entered University College London to complete Diploma in Urology. He is practicing as a Consultant Urological Surgeon in NHS .

Dr Saleem always wanted to contribute towards the advancement of the health and education of the poor people in Pakistan particularly the people of the area where he grew up and had his basic education. Dr Saleem has reached to a stage in his life where he can afford such a charitable work and then decided to register the charity with the Charity Commission UK in 2012 and started funding this charity through his own means.

Dr Saleem has donated 2 acres land to build a charity Hospital at a prime location in his home town called Khanewal in south Punjab, Pakistan. It is a prime location and easily accessible by road, train and air. This charity Hospital will be enjoying a support of tertiary centre Nishtar Medical University Hospital that is approximately half an hour away.

My last visit was in December, 2024 to witness the progress of construction work.

I am glade to state that I am satisfied with the work progress and noticed that they have reached to stage where main entrance road and plantation on both sides of the entrance road is underway. The road is 220 feet long from entrance gate to the entrance of the hospital and is going to have date palm trees on both sides and hedges. The grass seed is being spread in the lawns to make it green and elegant.

Ground floor: It has outpatient department, Pharmacy and Renal dialysis unit. Renal unit will have facility for 10 patients to have dialysis at one time.

The Chairman’s Report

During the 11th year of the charity the main focus was to keep raising enough

funds to complete the construction of the hospital.

I am delighted to announce that the charity has raised twelve-thousand-pound sterling (£28,492.00) during the 12 months.

It is very humbling year of the SWA UK and has given confidence in the future

of the charity considering.

The local people in Pakistan are heavily involved in this project and

are prepared to give their time and efforts to make it a success story.

I would like to praise Dr Naeem GP in South Africa who have taken time to visit hospital and given some valuable suggestions.

SWA UK has released £51,090.00 through bank during this year. Further funds will be released in coming months after visiting and assessing the progress of the hospital building and external work as mentioned above.

Future Fund Raising

SWA UK is committed to keep on raising funds in future and pray to the almighty Allah that this charity shall be successful to deliver better health and education to the underprivileged people in Pakistan.
