## Trustees’ report for the year

This year the SVCT Trustees met on 24/06/2024 to approve the 23/24 accounts. The combined AGM of the SVCT and the Sheet Association was held on 04/10/24. Ann-Marie Powell, Sheet resident and award winning garden designer, was our guest speaker. Apart from the publication of Sheet News (now in full colour and in its 32nd year) the Sheet Association supported two big events this year. The first was the Sheet Olympics held on the Recreation Field on 22/6/24. Onion and spoon races, sack races, human wheelbarrow and French Waiter races were hotly contested. Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded. In

the end the two top teams India and Ukraine fought it out in a tug of war which India won. Sufficient money was raised to allow a contribution to Sheet Primary School for a new swing. The second event was the Winter Warmer Café, now in its third year, providing warm drinks and cakes in the Village Hall every Friday in the winter for those in need during the cost of living crisis. Grants have been received from the East Hants District Council for this year’s Winter Warmer Café, and the Sheet Olympics. Sheet Parish Council also gave a grant for the Sheet Olympics but no grant was received for the Winter Café this year. Instead they didn’t charge for the use of the Village Hall. The Sheet WI gave a grant for the Olympics and the Half Moon pub gave 10% of their take. In addition to these events the Sheet Film Club continues to be active and the Sheet Association website gives villagers notification of future events. So far no village assets have been transferred to the Trust but it remains a facility to safeguard village assets in future against any potential change in council governance.

## Public benefit

The Trustees have had regard to the guidance of the Charity Commission with regard to public benefit and are satisfied that throughout the year under review the Trust fulfilled the requirement to operate solely in the interests of the public and for its benefit.
