## **The Trust Fund of The Holy Trinity Armenian Church** ## **Annual Report for 2022 calendar year** ## **History** The Armenian Church of the Holy Trinity was opened on Easter Sunday 1870 by the relatively small but prosperous Armenian community in Manchester. The Church is thought to be the first purposebuilt Armenian Church in Northern Europe. A trust was set up in 1909 to hold the title to land and buildings and a separate trust was set up in 1920 to hold and manage financial assets. The trusts merged in 2000 and brought up to date with current charity law. ## **Purpose of the Trust Fund** - The purpose of the Trust Fund as currently constituted is to: - Hold in trust the land and church building at 229 Upper Brook Street, Manchester - Hold and manage donated funds to produce income for the management of the church and community in Manchester. - Use the income from invested funds to support the expenses of maintaining the church property in a good state of repair, pay the salary of church official and the expenses of maintaining divine service on the church. - Where needed to effect major repairs or extension to the church premises. ## **Activities in 2022** The church trust income is mainly generated from the investment managed by CCLA and car park rental. The investment income was £34K in 2022 (£33K in 2021) and income from the car park rental was £9K in 2022 (£8K in 2021). The received income supports 91% of the operating costs of the church. The total operating cost was £47K in 2022 against £29K in 2021. The increased costs in 2022 is due to increase in energy and repair/maintenance costs in 2022. The main costs are utility and council tax costs (£12K), building repair / maintenance costs (£10K), deacon’s salary (£9K), church building insurance (£5K).
