I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination (other than that disclosed below*) which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: 

- the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or 

- the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or 

- the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair' view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

The Archer Community Trust is a charity, number 1147507, registered with the Charity Commission on 30[th] May 2012.  The charity is governed by the constitution adopted by Trustees in May 2012, amended in February 2017. 

At the date of the balance sheet the board consisted of four trustees supporting the ethos of the Charity, its aims and objectives. 

All Trustees take their roles in the Charity very seriously, updating their knowledge throughout the year and fulfilling their individual roles based on their skills, community involvement and work and volunteer experience.  The Trustees’ functions include ensuring the continuation of robust and relevant financial practices. 

The charity has three principal areas of activity – hiring out facilities to businesses and not-for-profit groups, supporting community centred organisations and activities, and providing aid and equipment benefiting residents throughout Braintree and Bocking. 

The objectives and aims of the charity are, to provide a hireable facility, to enhance residents’ lives and to fundraise or gain sponsorship to provide equipment or aid to those in need. 

The trustees confirm they refer to the Charity Commission general guidance on public benefit, and continue to take direction from the Rural Community Council of Essex (RCCE) when reviewing the charity’s benefit to the public, as well as in planning future activities and projects. 

During 2022/2023 Paul Archer was made Honorary Life President of the Trust, although this has no voting rights, all trustees felt it was fitting recognition of his generosity in providing funding and donating the Archer Community Centre to the public via the Trust in 2014. 

The Archer Community Centre premises has started to regain hirers following the closure during the Covid pandemic.  Over that period, the opportunity was taken to complete maintenance and refurbishment tasks not previously possible when at capacity.  With reduced income, various avenues of funding were accessed in order to continue paying necessary utility bills.  The organisation was also able to access additional fees for one of the car-parking spaces which was let to a company providing water for a variety of businesses in the surrounding area; other projects will also restart once the Centre returns to being fully operational over the coming year.

The Braintree Fund has continued to receive funding from sponsorship, donations and activities, allowing it to fulfil its commitment to giving back to the local community.  This involved receiving funding from various organisations and individuals allowing it to increase the network of Community Accessible Defibrillators across Braintree and Bocking. 

The Trustees of The Archer Community Trust thank their supporters and hirers for their work and support during the past year.
