year has been one of our most actlve and successful slnce we opened In 2012 as we contSMue to thrfve
a5 a Ilbrary and valued hub for learnln& culture, anij community engagement In our vlllage.
Desplte the thallen8e5 facln8 many publlt seNlces, we have Increased our vlsltor numbers drlven bv
wlde range of actlvltles, from Ilbrary readlng competltlons, new book Introductlons, themed book
events, educatlonal workshops, craft, felt and urban palntln8 workshop5, local and heritsge
exhlbltlon5, health awarene55 weeks as well as chlldren's events. We have also successfulty contlnued
oyr re8LJlar features such as the Chess and Lego Club, Thy Tunes and Knlt and Natter. Of course. our
ever.Increaslng dlsplays of local arts and crafts contlnue toattract vlsltors a5 well as glvlng us essentlal
revenue. OurvlsltorCent￿ remaln5varled and well stocked and always a valuable a55etto attr•ct new
vlsltors.
You wlll all have notlced miny new thln85. We have a new tollet for Centre users, a new staff tollet
as well as a new fully equlpped kltchen, an eneT8V efflclent electrfc entrance door all thanks to grants
submitted and won by Ken Taylor. We have also Installed our first Samsung tablet for a young vlsltors.
Th15 was the bralnchild of one of youn8 volunteers Fraser Taylor and thanks to hls Èfforts we won
another grant wlth the Idea to educate through IT. Thls comln8 year wlll see the Introductlon of an
addltlonal two tablets.
The success of GADC Is underplnned by the continued un5wervln8 5UPPOrt of the local Parfsh Councll
and wlthout that support we could not suNlve. Thank you.
It15 always too dlfflcult tt* mentlon all the names of our dedicated, volunteer5, and trusteès, whose
efforts ensure the Centre remalns a vlbrJnt and welcomln8 Space for all. They are essentlal to us and
we are contlnually grateful.
Finally, Mel Healevs runnlng of the Centre has been as exceptlonal as ever. Her passlon and efflcienry
spi115 Dver to everythlng we do a5 well as her constant search for new Ideas to keep the Centre
relevant. Thls year she has been supported by Nell as usual, a cOn￿ant reliable and supportlve team
member, but also our new member Wendy Kelly. Wendy has bought fresh ideas and Is a valued,
friendty addltlon.

What does the comlng year hold for us? Certalnly more of the same as we bellevE we have a winning
fomiula, but we wlll also have a new gable wall, a few decoration prolects, a herb garden for us all 4s
well as a contlnued push to help our vSllage with dlgltal Incluslon. Excltln8ly the Owl sanctuary will be
back.. alway5 a wlnnerwith chlldren and adults alike.

The Company's Statement of Flnanclal Activltles can be seen on pagÉs 7 and 8. tO8etherwith the notes

Our core costs Includln8 bulldln8, Utllitles and other operatlons have contlnued to rlse durln8 the year.
HOw￿er, we expeylenced a perlod of slx month5 where our part time staff were reduced from three
to two whlch resulted In a very slgnlficant but temporary reductlon In staff costs. We were fortunate
In belng able to recrult a new admln15tratJr In October 2024 but speclal thanks are due to the
volunteers and Trustees who stepped up to flll the stafflng requlrements durlng the 5urnmer.
DurlnB the year work wa5 completed refurblshlng the kStchen and tollet facilltles In the Centre. Thls
was funded thanks to 8rants from the North Yorkshlre Councll, Great Ayton Ma50nlc Lodge and the
UK Shared Pffjsperlty Fund. Repalrs planned to our end wall have necessarliy been delayed Into the
followlng flnanclal year wlth both costs and fundlng beln8 deferred.
The donatlon from the Parlsh Cauncll ￿MaInS fixed, and the fvll Impact of cost Increases must be met
from our commerclal actlvltles, grants and donatlon5. Thls Income has seen modest Increases but Is
stlll not sufflclent to meet the overall rlse In costs, However, wlth the savln8 In salarle5 our surplus for
the year was £2,927
Ourflnan¢l81 stablllty has been malntalned, albelt contlnBent upon the contlnued 5UPl>Ort of the Greot
Ayton Parlsh Councll whS¢h Is secured untll March 31rt 2026 at the current levels.
The Dlrectors belleve that sufflclent reserves are avallable to carry the company fop•vard and meet
the challenge5 ahead.

technology servlces, together wlth 8rant aid where approprfate. We are always seeklnE to expand our
servlces to the community and, In 2026, we expect to complete the repalr and refurb15hment project

In the year to 3111 March 2024 the Dlrectors and Trustees recogn15ed that the ￿$tr1ded
reserves from NYCC and Lottery fvnd were utllised In the redevelopment of the Centre and
were reclasslfled as the Bulldln8 development re5eNe. These re5erve5 are, together wlth the
value of the donated freehold, collectlvely represented by the bulldlng as a whole. The
Unrestrlcted, desSgnated reserves are those Set aslde for future major TÉpalrs.
The Capltal Grant Reserve relates to £717 that was recelved from North YorkshlTe Councll for
the purchase of tablets, le55 £80 transferred to unrestrlcted funds In15ne wlth depreclatlon ol
