Over th¢ Jast two year4 more and more r￿earCh b&8 shown that rates of 'early onset cancef (cancer in those Under 50) is
increasing (see ftpr example. L£dford 2024. Bray 2024" and Shelton et 812024). However, most Gancer suP￿rt services
retitsined targeted at older p¢opl¢, wbJl¢ serYic&% that do include young adults sts)p at age 24. This means that an increasing
cohort of younger adults are not getting the siyport or jnf0rnllt￿ they need kn live well after a diagnosis. Shine Canc¢r
Supp)rt 18 the only charity in the UK focused on supporting tbis group of people and we are Wo￿l￿g with seThice users, staff
and portD¢rs to d¢velop innovalive 8olutiODS to fill the'cancer support gaplT facing younger adults.
We want every adult in their 205, 30s and 40s diagnosed with cancer to know theytre not alone. and to baye the supporL
knowledge, and wDfiden¢e to Davigate whatever call￿r throws their way.

4.7 out of 5. For both the PhL% On¢s Circle 8nd the Reset it w&8 4.6 (xtt of 5. There wern Ott￿ siwficant changes)
pre-prO￿amrne only 21°h of partiCiP8nts felt that they had "a lot" of emotional support as a younger adult with cancer. This
increased to 670/0 pogt-progranlllle. In additio￿ while 500A reported f¢ding isolated 'oft¢n' wtrpr0gramt￿ this reduced to
just P/0 Post-prograume.
Over the course of the year. we sligbtty tweaked the focus of the Plw Ones progranllne so that it is now only open to those
wbose partJer is living with all incu￿1¢ diagnosis. We plan to develop oth¢r support and W￿kshopS for those who have a
paTtsier on a curdtive ￿kway. We have ajso begun USiDg a ngw well.being scale to moDitor the impact of our pro￿nm￿.
This scale will also allow us to assi￿ 8 value to our work rekates to the inGrease in well&ing tbat results from
attending the progtan]tnes. We wtll be I￿Orting on this more in th¢ year to come.

Our film club folded in mid.2024 as fewer people w¢re Intere￿ in meeting up regU￿Y online. We also rnadg sollle
cbanges to our support for the LGBTQI+ conMn￿aty. Followiog dis¢u&8Io￿ and a f￿u8 group, we decided to discontinoe
specific online meet ups but to create a WhatsApp group for members of Ihe LGBTQI+ con]muwty who would like to be in
touch. We ar¢ a150 wo￿1￿8 with some of our volunt¢ers to ¢J￿￿re that our languag¢* website and r¢sour¢es r¢flect our d￿R[e
to be inclwiv¢ of all youug adults wilh canctr.
Shine has 16 networks a¢[￿￿ the cow, all of which ar¢ by vojunteffs. Intotai a¢ro8s 2023 - 2024, we ran a totsi of 83
in-person meet w)s vknicll re&Cl￿d 683 people in total. We have continued to support our Networks to grow througbout the
year aud our llew fi￿.t]rne Volunteer Manager is wfflling closely with the voluDteeTh to develop their skills and support the
growth of the NetWOTks.
Shlne Shake Up5 are a new, full-day in.p¢non eventthat we I8￿￿￿ed in March 2024. The first event wa5 held in Edinburgb
with 15 people in Mar¢lL Further events were held in Aprll (Southanwton), June (IA)ndon), Juty (Manchester), and
Septembu (L£eds and LA)ndon). All of the Shake Ups 1041ate have been held at Maggie's CeDtrc5.

Sbine Connecl our anlluoj conferenc¢. T¢turn¢d this year in a b￿ld fI)m￿t wbicb saw an in.person day 00 14 October
followed by six days of ODline workshops and sessions. We very much felt that ￿ were starting from scratch with tILe
conference and, giv￿ the pandemic, It￿711n￿lt w&8 slow aud low￿ than im previow years although the eveDt dld have 77
participants register to attend in person and we have bad excellent feedback Overnll, tbe participauts gdve the conference a
rating of 4.9 of 5, with 940/0 giving the venue 5 stars. Expert speakers and meeting other young adults with cancer were
given high ratings as the bestp￿￿ of the day.
