Case Study and Testimonials

Jamal has continued to progress in his life and work journey and has now secured a fulltime position as Junior Creative at ITV Studios, 2023.

Jamal, was looking for help to enter the Film & TV industry, he was associating with young people who were living a life of crime and documenting this through films but couldn’t break into the industry and access opportunities, he was becoming increasingly demotivated and frustrated. With our help and support, to build his self-confidence and reach his full potential develop his CV, interview and soft skills he managed to secure a 1 year paid traineeship at ITV Studios in his words: “Working with Creative Sparkworks has been really helpful experience for me. I was looking for a new opportunity when I met the team and they provided me with exactly what I was looking for. They put me forward for various different Opportunities and I was eventually hired by ITV Studios. I would like to give a special thanks to CREATIVE SPARKWORKS who have been inspirational in helping me secure my new role and assisted me every step of the way.” Jamal, 2022, Student Trainee, Creative Sparkworks

Shubham, who had come over from India and was struggling to find, work, friends, support and opportunities, joined one our summer course in 2022, in his words:

At Creative Sparkworks, I gained practical skills in film production from seasoned industry professionals. As someone new to both the film industry and the UK, the community here was incredibly welcoming, creating a memorable learning environment that extended beyond the classroom. On the practical side, they helped me craft industry-specific CVs and offered valuable real-world advice on networking and breaking into the field. This support led to several part-time roles in major productions and ultimately to my current full-time position as a Junior Unity Developer at Bodyswaps, where I get to combine technical game development (for VR and other platforms) with creative interactive storytelling for soft-skills training. To anyone considering starting their filmmaking journey or looking to refine their filmmaking fundamentals, I highly recommend Creative Sparkworks. Jamal, 2022, Student Trainee, Creative Sparkworks

A young man was referred to us through a supported housing service, an organisation that helps those in need of a place to stay, he was on probation and was involved in youth violence and crime. Since taking part in our courses, he has come a long way from when he first joined, he has made great strides to changing his life, his achievements include passing his driving test and he has been successful in his application to work on a BBC/Netflix Mocumentary through a production company who forms part of our network. The experience and support he has had at Creative Sparkworks has

helped him get to this point, we are so proud that he has managed to take this giant leap and been successful in taking his first step into the world of HETV.

Seriously....thank you very much for the opportunity you put forward to me as revived my dreams and reassured me the path I'm on is my destiny. You've helped me check many things on my to do list and always be grateful always!!! 2023 – Student Trainee, Creative Sparkworks

Testimonials

Dear Sylvia,

I am delighted to provide the following reference.

Re: Creative Sparkworks - (Learn2Film2£arn)

On behalf of the Walcot Foundation, I am able to confirm that we have worked with Creative Sparkworks since as far back of 2008 and have most recently funded the last 6 years of the Learn2Film2£arn project in Lambeth. This excellent project works with disadvantaged cohorts of students, particularly those from neuro-diverse groups and BME young people, to provide training, opportunities, and employment within the creative industries.

Projects have always been delivered on time and on budget and the Walcot Foundation has always been particularly impressed with the range of work experience and opportunities on offer to individuals who are often excluded on the basis of their background and/or lack of connections in the industry.

Should there be a future opportunity for Creative Sparkworks to apply for our funded support, we would welcome an application from them.

Should you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours faithfully,

Dan Hogan | Grants Officer The Walcot Foundation 127 Kennington Road London SE11 6SF | Tel 020 7735 1925 walcotfoundation.org.uk | email disclaimer | Subscribe to news.
