Mount Horeb Apostolic Church 2020 – 2021
The financial year of April 2020 – March 2021 was the most trying time that we have faced in the history of our local church, as we saw measures that even some of our Treasured Senior Saints did not see in WW2.
The Term “Act of God” took on new meaning, as an unseen virus stopped the World in its tracks, as we all experienced unprecedented times, and many went looking into the scriptures to find 2 Timothy 3:1 “ This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come… ”
However, seeing governments unable to react and having no knowledge of what to do next, saw many seeking to put their trust in God and looking to Jesus for comfort, knowing that the prophet Isaiah said in chapter 9:6 that “ the government shall be upon his shoulder ”.
We are thankful and grateful to the inventor of Zoom, that allowed us to initially hold our services from our homes and be able to speak with all of the parishioners, and many who had no idea how their smart phone or ipads & laptops really worked, finding the ability by God’s grace to now be accomplished Zoom users.
To date our longest serving member, who had her 96[th] birthday on 31[st] Dec 2020, has been able to be attendant at every Sunday & midday service on zoom, as we were able to have the church “without walls” and use the zoom platform to have video calls together and to afford time for everyone to still communicate with one another, even whilst shut inside our homes.
We expect to continue these broadcasts of service throughout 2021 (and beyond), even when there are no longer any restrictions.
The Zoom and YouTube services, saw folks as far away as in India and the Phillipines, Canada and the USA joining our services; whilst mobile phones allowed us to receive offerings directly into the church bank account.
Unfortunately, during this period we have lost members of families and close friends, and were not able to see them in their final moments, or afford their families an opportunity to grieve openly, as funerals could only have 6 family members in attendance.
However, we pray that this time acts as a watershed, for us to understand that health is more important than wealth and that we need to see our loved ones more often and tell them that we love them.
