The charlty Is reglsiered as a charirable company, limited by guarantee and was incorporated on 28
March 2012 and registered as a charlty oft 2 Aprll 2012. The charlty is constituted under the
Memorandum of A550ciation.
The objects of the charity are:

Trustees shall be appointed by resolution of the trustees. The term of office for all tru5tee5 is three
years from the date of their appointment.
L ORGANISATIONALSTRucfuRE AND DECISION MAKING
The trustees of the charity meet hold a monthly management meeting when progress is reported and
dlscussed, stfate8y developed and finances scrulinlsed re8ularly. Dayto day control of the Information
Centre is dele8ated to the Centre Manager.

2023124 has been a very successfvl year for Harleston Information Plus (HIP} Charity. Our Services
have continued to 8row and develop and our team of volunteers has expanded. enabling us to increase
the support we provide to the residents of Harleston and its hintertand. All Our actlvities f(Kus on
improvin8 the quality of life for local residents and are undertaken to further our charttsble purposes
for the public benefit.
er the twelve months volunteers, including trustees. gave a combined total of 4.431 hours of thelr
time to the work of the Charity. which equates to 3 value of £46.171 based on the National ￿vIng
Wage.
We have welcomed the Introductlon of new initiatives and ¢ollaborative Wor￿￿8 and have celebrated
many successes, one of whlch bein8 our own 20 years of SLtpportin8 the community, originally under
the title of Harleston Development PartnershSp, which later became the HIP Charity. We marked this
occasion by holdin8 an open week where we welcomed past and present funders, sUPPQrters and
volunteers to celebrate with us. see how HIP first began. look back on past projects and share fond
memories. We also took the opportunity io celebrate our volunteers and presented long seryice
awards to 8 volunteers in recognltion and appreciation of their loyalty, dedication. 5ervlce and
outstanding contribution to HIP.
We had the privilege of attending the South Norfolk Community Awards where we were shortlisied
for Community Group of the Year and we are proud to have been instrumental in Harleston obtainin8
Mindfu5 Town status. with 16 of our own volunteèrs now fully tralned as Wellbein8 Champions.

Inforniatlon centre
Harleston Information Plus Charity is seen as a community focal polnt. and the Informatlon Centre has
contlnued to be very much a hub for the community, welcomln8 over 4,240 vi51tor5 in 2023124.

Our volunteer team increased from 31 to 44 over the year and the Centre Mana8er relnstated
volunteer induction tralning for all new volunteers joining HIP. Volunteers receive regular 5UPPOrt to

We were pleased to welcome new Town and District Councillor monthly drolpin surgeries to
complement the existing County Councillor surgery. and now offer a Councillor surgery on most
Saturdays. We also continued to support local groups and clubs within the community and are pleased
to h05t a weekly Citizens Advice outreach service. Susan Whymark's Bereavement Group, U3A Board
Games. Art group and Crochet Club, and have recently introduced our own Stitch and Chat group.
On-line Forni Filling servlce
There is stlll very much 3 need for thi5 service first set up In 2022. With many services only bein8
available onllntr. it helps local residents without IT aecess or knowledge to ¢omplete online application
forms such as personal independence payment. attendance allowance, blLte badge applications and
concesslonary bus pa55e5. Over the 12 months to March 2024. we supported 49 individu31s, 38 of
whom were aged over 70 years.
Jobs Club
Although support and I:1 appointments were available to lobseekers throughout the pandemic, we
felt very 5tronBly that our weekly club was very muth needed to offer peer support, confidence
bvÉldin8 and IT help for those looking for work. In February 2023 we reopened the Wednesday drop
in club and in the year to 31 March 2024, we have supported 84 jobseekers In their search for
employment,
In addltion, OL¢r Jobs Club has worked with lurther learnlng pro¥l(fers and ha5 offered the followin8

The Centre Manager and Jobs Club volunteers have attended 3 lobs fairs or8anlsed by Dlss Job Cèntre
to reach more jobseekers and further promote our Servi￿5.
Befrlending
Initially set up after the pandemic, our Befriending Servlce is now fully established and contlnues to
provide 3 much needed and valued service. During 2023124, 16 volunteers carried out weekly
befriendin8 vislts, supporting 26 individuals identified as experiencing loneline55 and socièl isolation
within Qur Community. We continue to receive reBular referrals from South Norfolk Help Hub. Adult
Social Services and the Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust.
Foodbank
We have contlnued to support the Waveney Foodbank and art as a referring agency, In 2023124 we
issued 207 Foodbank vouchers to local residents and offered crucial sUPPOrt and signposting to
external organisatlons.
Webslte development
HIVS new web51te, launched in December 2022, ha5 been developed and expanded over the last year
to provide a wealth of Informatlon on the town's clubs. activities and services. It hosts a communltv
calendar on local events and has direct links to the Town Council, V5slt Harleston, Harleston's Future
and Harleston & Distrirt Business Forum.
Flrst Ald at Work tralnlng
We organised 4 Emergency First Aid at Work courses in 2023124. with 37 dele8ates from local
or8anisatSons. bustnesses and voluntsry gTOUPS recelvlng th15 e55entlal qualiflcatlon. Includlng 6 of our
own HIP volunteerslemployees.
Communltyoutreath
With funding from the National Lottery Awards forAII. we were able to tomplete a series of community
outreach and pop up events durin8 2023124. This included vlsiting a number of villages within our
hintefland to ralse awareness of HIP services whilst delivering creative fun art and craft activities.
flower arrangin& cookery demonstrations and IT help. We were also ablÈ to deliver a series of drop
in IT help se55ions at HIP along wlth two four week cookery classes dellvered at St John's Church and
Harleston Sancroft Academv.
Winter Warmln8 Pad(s
We were ple35ed tg be able to provide Winter Warming Patk5 this financial year. thank5 to a grant
from South Norfolk and 8roadland Counul. The pack5 were for ènyone struBElin8 to heat their homes
and pay thelr energy bi115 this winter.
Santa's Grotto
At the Christma5 Lights Switch on in November 2023 we saw 126 children pa55 through Santa's Grotto.
This is a 8reat opportunity for us to connect with local families within our communlty and provide an
affordable alternative for seeing Santa over the festive period.
Lottery Reachlng Communltle5
A5 a result of our revlew of actI￿ries, we èpplied to the Lottery Reaching Communities for a large grant
over several years to further develop our Servi￿5.
The Lottery applicatlon required consultatSon with the local community about the support services
needed. We invlted local groups and organisations tojoin us at one of two HIP present3tion5 delivered
at The Swan Hotel in order to Bather feedback from community, and this was used as the basls for
the application.

on further developing oul existin8 services rather than introducing new servlces. and we await their
response.
f. FINANCIAL REVIEW
We have benefitted lfi the last twelve months from a great deal of valued support received from the
local community.
Donatlons
We received donatlons totalllng £9.CKIO from Bullock Fair Charity Shop. £315 from Handsomes of
Harleston from their Christmas draw. and £150 from Mr and Mrs Spooner from the proceeds of
Brockdish Open Gardens,
Our staff and volunteers have donated money raised at sta115 at town events and the Chrlstmas grotto.
Our donation pots. hosted by many local shopsi provlde us with another valued stream of donation5,
as does the renting out of our rooms to local organisations. We would like to expres5 our warmest
thanks and appreciatSon for all these donations.
Granls
We received a grant of £6.500 from the Redenhall with Harleston Town Council and would like to
express our appreciation for their continued 5UPPOrt.
We are grateful to have been able to secure grants which enabled us to contlnue to run our exlsting
Job5 Club and Befriending Service. from the followin8 bodies:

Any funds from restricted funding not spent durin8 the current year 15 carried forward to next year.
We have in addltion received 8rant funding which enabled us to carry out a number of one-off projects:

South Norfolk- Warmer Winters grant of £750

We have also received glft funding from the tradlng profit of Harleston Information Plus Ltd. whlth Is
made on a re8ular annual basis.
After a busy and productlve twelve months. we have finished the year in a secure financial position
which will stand us in good Stead for the forthcoming year.
Reserves pollcy
The reserves policy is r￿leWed annually. Durfng the year the trustees examined the charivs
requirement for reserves and determined that Designated Reserve5 should be maintained at a level
sufficient to cover twelve months. tore running costs together with Sufficient fLsnd5 to meet any
reasonably foreseeabbe contlngency. a total of £72,th].
