ACHIEVEMEIYT Al￿ PERFORMANCE
Charitable xtiviti
Community
2024 was another busy year for the Hinge Centre. We continued to our community groups such as The Budget
Cooking Class., 'M¢n's Meet and Eat,, The Hinge Drama Group,, 'Healthy Minds, and Craft for Health,. all of which
were aimed at bringing peopl¢ tog¢th¢r, r¢du¢ing isolation. improving existing skills, PToviding new skills and
¢mpow&ing people to make healthy thoic¢s. We continued lo off¢r a weekly COMM￿lty drop-in session (Warni
Welcome) and digital drop-in session as well as the offer of online courses includiJ)8 fTh)d hygiene and health and safety
at work. We provided 305 community groups that supported 295 individual peopl
Dwing 2024, our community project received 335 referrals for benefit and welfare support. 844 one to one
appointments took place within this project.
The Hinge Centre's group a¢livities airned at improving skills and prospects were attended 1,118 times by 69
individuals. These sessions includ¢d ¢mployability support, p¢rsonal d¢v¢lopment and independent living skills. During
2024 these grouplone to one sessions were delivered face to face at Th¢ Hinge Centre and out in the commwiity.
41 individuals have volunteered with The Hinge Centre includitig helping with the d¢liv¢ring of newsletters and
supporting community evellts such as fayres, coffee mornings and stalls, as well as reception duty and offering support
within conununity groups. In addition, we provided placement oppoitiiillties for 5 students.
In 2024 we held a numbu of conmwrrity ¢v¢nls, both lo bring the wmmunity together and to fifftdrnise for the charity.
Th¢s¢ ¢vents included an Easter. Summ¢r and christm￿ fayr¢ whith saw 706 attendance5.
In 2024, 384 individuals with p(Kyr mental health, 177 individuals with a physi¢al disability, 149 homele8s individuals,
60 indivftduals that were at risk of becoming homeless, 58 individuals who had b¢en involved in ciiminal activity in the
last 12 months and 13 individuals with substance misuse issues accessed The Hinge Centre for support.
762 food parcels were handed out to the loul Community. These supported 861 adults and 458 children.
99 pu)ple have been Supported with clairning for w¢lfar¢ assistan¢¢ in relation lo r¢￿ttleMent, debi managem¢nt, white
goods andlor fuel which totslled £16,401 within this reporting period. These fimds were 5e¢ur¢d through ¢xl¢rnal
fithding sources and were used to direet]y pay funds to landlords, debt companies. utility ¢ompanies, council housing or
tax department& as well as to purchaselorge and smaller white goods.
Chlldren & Young People
Our after school and holiday clubs continued to take place in 2024. Within this project w¢ off¢r¢d a wid¢ range of after
school activities for ¢hil(tren and young pg)plc including: Little Chefs, Tea @ The Hinge. Discovery C]ub, Fun and
Games and Cr¢ativ¢ kids. Additionally, duTing the school holidays we were able to offer sessions including Paws4minds.
cook stars, board game café, gardening, food explorers. art expli)rers. Trips in¢lud¢d Hull museum& Pinewwds. MKM
Stadium. Stoekeld Park. Scarborough. S•verby Park and Playdal¢ Farm.
The sessions focused on bringing children together, building confidence, providing positive role models and new
experiences. We rdn 152 after school sessions, 37 Us Girls sessions and 29 holiday activitie￿trIpS which had 1.460
attendances. Th¢s¢ sessions took place both al The Hinge Centre and out in the local community. Th¢ Ghildren attending
are aged betwe￿ 5 and 16 and ¢ome from a vari¢ty of schools and areas of th¢ town.
Resettlement Projeet
The ￿￿ttl¢ment project supports homeless individuals or thos¢ al risk of hom¢lessn¢ss to firstly identify their individual
ne¢ds. then put together M holisti¢ support pa¢kag¢ wvering a rang¢ of personal life skills and personal development
with ongoing support in order for them to access supported independent tenancies which they can maintain. W¢ also
provide help at a critical moinent, providing support to meet immediate needs such food, sleeping bags, flasks and
mobile phon&q.
Within this reporting 193 individuals hav¢ be¢n referred for resettlement support. This projecl worked
successfully, face to face with 100 of these indiNryduals. 47 of the individuals wer¢ supported to move into privately
rented properties, hostels or supported living and 15 returned to ftimily or remaineAI in C￿￿1 accommodation.

Each of the indlviduals ￿ceSSing for resettlement support receive a ￿11 initial assessment and a tailored support plan is
developed with them. The initial assessmenL as well as to record basic infonnation such as name, dale of birth and
medical infom)ation, allows US to ensure they have the inwme in pla¢e. An additional part of this package is to
identify suitable, sustainabl¢ and affordablc a¢c4)mmodation r¢l¢vant to their sp¢¢ific needs and budget.
FINANCIAL REVIEW

The result for th¢ yw was an overall sU￿]uS of £92,503 (2023 . £44,592). R¢strict¢d ftjnds increased by £25.569 (2023
£3,202). unrestri¢t¢d funds in¢r¢as¢d by £66.934 (2023 .. £41,390} during th¢ year.
Th¢ ¢haTity has been actively 8¢eking grant fimding duTing the year.
The charity holds £220,000 of unrestricted fLmds in & bank deposit accounl with the specifie pU￿oSe of 8￿uring their
own pemwient premises, when fiu]ds permit. Thts will sav¢ the charity rental costs enabling the charity to fillther their
main aims to help the local community.
FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS
In line with th¢ Charity's ain￿ and objectives, we will continu¢ lo identify areas of need within the locality of Bridlington
and the surrounding areas and respond to bod4 wilh ind¢p¢nd¢nt proi¢ct ¢valuatiim and conuDunity consultations.
Working groups have been set up to achieve wider c4)nsultstion.
The Gharity will ¢ontinu¢ to WOTk to identify and secure funding from a variety of sources to fund projects, core costs
and to ll￿tch fjJnd cutrent bids.
Fundraising will continue to play a key role in 2025 and ow in-house staff will work hard to increase fimding efforts to
bring in vital unrestricted funds for the charity and a dedi¢at¢d ¢onsultant will on restrict￿ applications. W¢ will
be placing greater emphasis on raising UDr¢striot￿I funds.
Raising the profil¢ of Th¢ Hing¢ Centre Charity will continue to plAy a part of th¢ ¢harities aims in 2025. Reloved, our
h￿lty shop, opened in July 2023 and helps with rnising the profile as well as Taising fimd8 for the charity and giving
voluntary work activities for some of our service users. The shop's trade, assets and liabilities were bived up into the
charity on 30 April 2025. The subsidiary company will be stwck off, post yeor en

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND IVIANAGEMENT
Governing document
The organisation is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee and is governed by its constitution which WAS
adopted on 9th July 1997, as amended on 22nd January 1999, 21st May 21￿2 and Isth June 2008. tog¢iher with its
M¢morandum and Articles of Association adopted on 18th February 2008.

Recruitment And appointmettt of lleiv trnstees
The directors of the Company are also tn￿le¢S for the purposes of charity law and, under the company's articles for the
purpose of company law, arc known as rncmbcTS of the Charity Board Under the rCquirC￿ellts. of the chatity's
Memorandum and Articles all directors must retire after serving a tern) of tlwee years, after which they can be rc-clccted
at the next Annual General Meeling. Directors can only setve for a maximum of four terns.
The Board seeks to engure that the needs of this gToup are appropriately reflected through the diversity of the chgsitablc
company. Therefore as part of the recruitment of directors the company promotes the need for knowledge and
experience to assist the charitable company.
In order to promote a broad mix. membcTS of ihc BoaTd are requested to provide a list oftheir skills (and updatc it each
year if re*lected) and in the event of particular skills being lost due to retirements, individuals are approached to offer
thcrllselves for election to the Board.
Organfisadonal structure
The Hinge has a Board of Directors of not l&qs than four members with a maximum of nine who meet quart¢rly and ore
responsible for the strdtegic direction of the charitsble ¢ompany. At preseot the Board has memb¢rs from a variety of
backgrounds relevant to th¢ work of the Charitabl¢ wmpany.
Subsldlary Company
In July 2023 the ch￿lty ¢)pened it5 chwity shop. The shop is operated by a wholly owned subsidiary company. The
Hinge Centr¢ Trading Limited, and all profits will be donated up into th¢ Charity. This don¢ to diversify tb¢ charity's
fimding streams and it also helps raising the proflle as w¢ll as raising fijnds for the charity and giving voluntary
work a¢tiviti¢s for som¢ of our smqce users.
Th¢ trdding company has one share, owned by The Hinge Centre Limited, and three directors.. the Hinge C¢ntre's Chief
Executive, The Hinge Centre's Treasurer and one independent directors. The shop bad a ￿ll-tiMe manager with ttvo
part-time deputy managers. All other staff are volunteers.
The Hinge Centre Trading Limited is ¢UTrently a separate company to reduc¢ the financial risk to th¢ charity.
It has been d￿lded by th¢ dir￿10T8 that, to stmplify adm]ntstrdtiO￿ the trdding company will close thd Reloved be
inc0￿rated into The Hinge Centre Limited. At the 30 April 2025 the assets and liabilities of the trading subsidiary
were transferred up to the charity and the remaining outstanding loan was written off.
Induction and trniDillg of new trustees
Most directors arc alrcady familiaT with thc PTacticftl wo]k of the cllarity. Additionally, new dIr¢cto￿ are invited and
encourag￿ to attend a series of short training sessions (of no moTe than an hour) to famiLiarise themselves with the
charitablc company and the contcxt within which it operates. Tbese are joinily led by the Chair of the Board and the
Sccrctary of the charitable company and ¢ov¢r.

Related parties
No director has any related paty transactions associated with the organisation.
Risk management
Having entered into a lease with Smile, th¢ Charity now has suitable premises for its cumt and plaDn¢d se￿]ee5. Ivhilst
this is currently a short terni leas¢ until De¢¢mber 2025, negotiations are tsking place with Smil¢ and Eagt Riding of
Yorkshire Council in the h¢)pe that long¢r terni w¢ can secure suilabl¢ accommodation.
Diversifying incorne is still an issue especially as funding streams are always on a short temi basis. Fundraising from the
publi¢ and businesses through events, donations, etc has become a high prlority.

RELATED PARTY DISCLOSURES
At the 31 D￿ernber 2024 the Charity is owed £60,932 (2023 . £38.605) by ivs l(K)% owned subsidiary, The
Hinge Centre Trnding Limited.
The Subsidiary ceased trading on 30 April 2025. The knde, a58ets and liabilities We￿ transferred ov¢r to the
charity. The leas¢ on the shop has also been reassigned to the charity.
14.
DESIGNATED FUNDS
Designated funds are alloc&led from the balance of free reserves and represenls the costs needs to cover staff,
renL utilities and general ov¢rheads for a period of three months in tb¢ event the tharity is wound down in line
with agreed policies and procedures. The fi￿d is r¢viewed on an annual basis and the current l¢vel is de<med the
minirnum amount ne¢¢ssary to cover ih¢K costs.
