Summary of the maln actlvltles undertaken for the publlc beneflt The aim of our Spectrum WASP charity is to support local children and young people on the autistic spectTum with disabilities, special and additional needs. We also support siblings and families viithin Rainworth, B11dvrth, Mansfield and sum)unding areas. Some of our families are disadvantaged, on low income with no outside support. Through our monthly activities and workshop I leaming programme, our objectives are to provide support, development, lrfe skills and leaming in order for our children l young people to gain acceptance in today's demanding society. We also provide help for our parents and carers thr(gh a comprehensive training
Spectrum WASP programme that supports in caring for their children l young people who frequently demonstrate very thallenging behaviour. Children l Young People in the local and wder community of Nottinghamshire who are on the Autists'c Spectrum along with their sitlings and families I carers will benefit from our projed. We prowde a network of support for all families through training opportunities, meetings and social events where siblings are included in rnany of our activities. We have cUentlY supported over 475 children over the last 13 years, as well as their families and carers, wtho all benefit from the leaming opportunities. activities and life skills programme. Also the support. kindness and understanding that our group prowdes to both parents I carers and children has become invaluable to the improved quality of their lives. The actiirities and services our charity bring to the public is invaluable for the support that is offered to Children, Young People, Parents and Carers. Summary of the maln achlevements durlng the perlod On our register we have currently supported 475 children l young people over the last 13 years, this figur8 is constantly increasing through our Short Breaks respite care which we off8r through a ten-year tender with Nottinghamshire County Council. We have our base, Pine House at Ransom Wood Mansf181d, whith is set in a wonderful outdoor space l environment giving us the opportunity to provide a varled programme of indoor l outdoor training and leaming activities I workshops which we have now been providing over the last five years. We need to sustain funding to continue growing bwthin our local community as this need is very much shown to be there. We provide Activities l Leaming and Life Skills Workshops which indudes Paediatric First Aid, Online Training with Blue Stream academy also working alongside our local College Vision West Notts. Throughout the year we Tun our School Holiday programmes which includes activities such as Football. B0ing. Swimming, Bike Club, Residential Breaks and Training Wot*shops etc. for our children l young people I siblings, parents and carers. Some Children l Young Peoples disabilities are not always visibly identifiable, but Ihe majority of our Children l Young people have a diagnosis of Autism. we also cover a wide range of medical conditions. We have expanded our events programme in line with requests from our young people to incorporate our Teens Club" on a Friday evening for our 11-18 years old, which consists of out and about activities encouraging creativity, social interaction. team building, friendship groups and lrfe I leaming Skills. These sessions encourag8 social engagement and helps friendships to form, making it a safe environment and welcoming plac8 to be. It has been wonderful news obtaining funding from the National Lottery Community Fund this year, which will sustain us now for the next the years. Spectrum WASP Financlal revlew Spectrum WASP were overwhelmed to receive funding from The National Lottery Community Fund in November 2021 to cover several core areas to sustain us over the next 3 years. Spectrum WASP as a charty are still activley fundraising throughout the year due to an increase in Children. Young People and Families requesb.ng our ser¥ice. Re8ponsibilitles and basis of report As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Ad 2011 ('the Act,). l port in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b} of the Act. Independent examlner's statement I have completed my examination. I confim that no matters have come to my attention in connection the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 1. accounling records were not kept in respecl of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or 2. the accounts do not a(xord with those records.
