Impro¥lng access to our services

Our confidential Infomiation and Support Line servi￿. open 5 days a week continues to respond quickly and

for help as appropriate. This confidential service is also for coun5elling clients to enable stsff to touch base wtth
them on a regular basis in between initial assessment and first counselling session. A similar approach of
appropriate contact is also provided by our ISVA team.
We continue to provide regular trainin8 events as part of our aim to improve awareness of our work and
improving access to our Servi￿ as well as developing our community outreach in challenging the attitudes and
behaviours whith give rise to sexual violence.
Future developments
During 2023124 we moved closerto achieving our main strategic objectlve to establish a new counselling seprfice
specifically for children of all ages. Thi5 work has been stalled for some time due to issues in recruitment of
specialist counsellors who were able to deliver fa￿ to face sessions as well as ensuring we had an appropriate
level of clinical supervision and sUPPOrt in Pla￿ forthe5e specialist counsellor5. We are delighted that we finally
have that capacity in house and are able to work towards greater provision of support for children in
$114SAQ We have created dedicated children and family space within the centre with toys. resources and
furniture more appropriate for children. We are currently seekin8 fundin8to extend thiswork to include sUPPOrt

Our total income for the financial year was £687,69412023:694,616). 98% of our income comes from 8rants for
governmental and non- governmental bodies as shown in note 2 to the financial statements with additional
donations from individuals and bank interest representingthe remaining income. Total expenditure of £761,068
12023-£653,841} resulting in a net movement in funds was a deficit of £73,374 (2023: surplus of £40,775) . Our
stricted funds increased by £872 from £nil at the beginning of the year to £872 at the year-end. Overall, our
unrestricted funds decreased by £74,246 from £497,407 at the beginning of year to £423.161 at the year-end.
Any excess cash funds are pl￿d on deposit in interest bearing accounts to generate additional income for the
charity, in line with the charity view on risk.
Current forecasts show that SRASAC has £702.063 of secured income for 2024125 with experted expenditure of
£794.226 leaving a shortFall of £92,164. This is not a dissimilar position to one we faced in previous years, so
during 2024125we will be making further bids for funding to ensure thatwe can continueto provide our servI￿s.
The main factor affecting the financial position in the comin8 years is that a significant amount of our funding
continues to be for a relatively short period of time between 2-3 year5. The major contrdcts with the Ministry of
justi￿ and the South Yorkshire Sexual Wiolence Partnership which account for £597.563 of expected income for
2024125 are due to end on 31 March 2025. This applies to all providers of counselling service5 for rape and
sexual violencevictimswithin the UL Discussion5 regarding its renewal andlor extension of the existing contract
are ongoing and we are confident that we are in an excellent position to be successful. The organisation is
currently in a strong financial position and will be testing its financial stability over the coming months.

ReseTh*s poliry
Thetrustees, current reseFves policy ststes thatthe equivalent of between 3 and 6 month's planned expenditure
should be kept in reserve to ensure that the charity could continue to work through a period of unforeseen
dlfficulty. The trustee5 a55e55 the reserves policy on an annual basls.
Planned expenditure for 2024125 is PJ4.226 with three to six month's expenditure being in the range £198.556
to £397,112. Free reserves at 31 March 2024 were £367.820 1 unrestricted funds exduding fixed assets) which
is within the target range.
Condusion5
We remain cautiously optimistic about our ability to attract the funding required beyond 2025 and following
review in June we intend to build up the amount we keep in reserves overthe next two years. The Board believe
that holding an increased level of reserves beyond 6 months planned expenditure is a prudent response to the
challenges we will be facing over the next few year5.
We fully recognise that we will not be immune to the financial challenges the whole country is fadng at this
point in time as a result of the fallout from the covid pandemic, the war in Ukraine. the cost of livin8 crisis and
looming austerity measures and so we believethat increasing the level of reserves we hold is a prudent resporlse
to thls challenge at least for the next few years.
SRASAC is very grateful to all our funders who have enabled us to maintain and enhance our services and provide
contact and support for over a thousand clients. A Significant amount of our funding continues to be for a
relatively short peri(xl of time between 2-3 years. This can make future planning for sustainabiSity difficult in a
thallenging economic climate.
Our greatest challenge continues to be en5urin8 high quality responsive provision for the needs of survivors In
Sheffield. Referrals across all services have risen year on year as well as ISVA clients experiencing a much lon8er
wait for progress and completing within the criminal justice system. In the coming year we will work to build
the capacity of our Counsellin8 servi￿ to meet the needs of all sur4ivors.
