ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE Charitable activities
City for Peace
-
Cities for Peace Young Ambassador Training is a local community initiative that uses football to connect young people from different faiths, cultures and backgrounds and get them to communicate, play together and learn to confront stereotypes and better understand one another.
-
We work with local experts to identify communities where misunderstanding is causing division. Using the advice of councils, clubs & schools, we select 12-18 year olds to become "Youth Ambassadors". We run bespoke training workshops to teach them football diplomacy & life skills. With the support of our local ambassador coordinators, our Youth Ambassadors run football tournaments to bring young people together in their local areas.
-
Drawing on expertise within the local areas we visit, Football for Peace works to identify communities, both at home and abroad, to take part in the programme. Schools and Community Groups are asked to identify students they believe would benefit the most from being involved with our workshops. Those chosen go on to become our 'Football for Peace Ambassadors'. The students undergo a number of courses designed to equip them with not only the skills and understanding they'll need to become a Football for Peace Ambassador, but more importantly, the life skills for the future.
Peace Matches
-
One-off football matches held around the world to raise awareness of football diplomacy and promote a message of peace.
-
We identify divided global communities, and work to bring them together in a neutral environment to play a special football match. We also invite international dignitaries, royalty and footballers to attend or play in the match. The two (or more) communities are integrated into one team so that they use football to as a starting point to working together. They play against our Footballers for Peace team.
-
Although a single Peace Match won't change things alone, it can be the start of the kind of change that makes the difference to young lives and how they see their world.
Fundraising activities
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic the charity has been unable to hold any fundraising activities as of the lockdown measures. This has hindered the charity's ability to raise money via sales of tickets to events, fundraising auctions and donations.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Financial position
The charity has seen a tough year due to Coronavirus, all contributing to the total incoming resources of £116,924.81, a considerable decrease from the previous year.
These lack resources have restricted the charity to the extent of spending and growing the charity projects. Total charity resources expended for the year were £110,872.
The charity can therefore report a net increase in funds of only £6,052 for the period ended year; increasing the Total Funds available for future projects to £199,370.
Reserves policy
The management committee operates a system of general funds to cover the core running costs of the charity, and restricted funds to cover the costs associated with particular activities and projects.
At the regular trustees meetings funding budgets are agreed to meet the programme of future events and activities to ensure that the charity can meet its objectives while still retaining surplus funds to meet it ongoing needs.

FUTURE PLANS
The charity will continue to promote its work and ideals both in the public and private sectors.
The charity will continue to identify areas where the City for Peace project can create a positive impact in the region. The aim is to deliver 3 City for Peace projects across the UK and 2 International City for Peace projects in the next year. We aim to build on our City for Peace projects in London, Luton and Birmingham and aim to develop projects in Manchester and Liverpool in the coming year.
We aim to deliver a Peace Match in the UK following the increases in community tension and marginalisation that events have caused over the past 24 months. It will be a Peace Match to highlight unity with key figures, footballers and communities coming together to showcase community resilience.
We aim to hold another fundraising Peace Ball to generate funds to deliver our City for Peace projects in the UK.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT Governing document
The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust, and constitutes a limited company, limited by guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006.
Recruitment and appointment of new trustees
As set out in Articles 29 to 37 of the Articles of Association a person is only eligible to act as a trustee if they have been proposed by a trustee and it has then been passed by an ordinary resolution of the members or alternatively by the board of trustees to appoint that person as a trustee.
Organisational structure
The board of trustees is not subject to a maximum number of trustees but there must always be a minimum of three trustees. The board meets regularly to discuss development, membership, and finance. To facilitate effective operations and the delivery of projects in furtherance of the charitable objectives.
