Slgnlflcant actlvltles: Portsmouth Division RMVCC Is the oldest unlt within the Volunteer Cadet Corps, datln8 back to its establishment on 14th February 1901 in Eastney. Portsmouth. Captain William Harkness RMA, revered as the 'founding father, of the Volunteer Cadet Corps, led as it5 first commanding officer. Currently situated at HMS Excellent on Whale Island, adjacent to Navy Command Headquarters. the Division boast5 a membershlp exceeding 200, making St the largest unit wlthln the VCC. Cadets convene on Tuesday and Friday evenings. At Portsmouth Dlvlslon RMVCC, cadets actively engage In diverse tralnlng and actlvlties, utilizlng the Longmoor and Browndown trainin8 areas, along wlth the New Forest and the South Downs. Weekends often flnd our cadets on these tralnlng areas, honing fieldcraft skllls under adult supervision, mastering tactlcs, field cookin8. and personal hyglene Irrespectlve of weather condltlons. Whlle often donnSnB green during tralnlng, they showcase thelr impeccable blue dres5 unlform5 on parades, eSpecIal durlng signlficant events Ilke Remembrance Sunday at Guildhall Square. The rSgorous 4 to 5-month baslc tralnlng Introduces recrults to essential skllls such as drill, map readlng, navigatlon, first aid, field craft, and Corps hlstory. Culminating in a challenglng weekend exerc15e on Longmoor. this tralnln8 concludes wlth a Pass Out parade, celebrating achlevements in front of proud family and friends, The Belle Isle Award recognlzes the top recrult's exceptional dedlcatlon and proficiency, leading them into General Dutie5 Tralning. Durln8 the summer term, our dlsplay teams shine. notably the Drlll DSsplay Team, showcaslng dexterlty with drill rlfles and Intrlcate formations Sn ceremonial uniforms wlthout vocal commands. Excltement abounds with the Fleld Gun dlsplay team, where 20 adept cadets compete fiercely, racing a Boer War 7-pounder muzzle-load5ng Field Gun against other cadet unlts. Thls thrillin8 dlsplay of enthusiasm, fltness, dlsclpllne, and teamwork has 8raced prestlgiou5 events like the Royal Tournament and the Klrkcudbright Tattoo. Publlc benefit". With reference to the duty In section 17151 of the Charitles Act 2011, the trustees confirm that they have referred to the Charity Commlssion'5 guidance on publlc benefit when reviewlng the charity's aims and oblectlves and in planning its current and future activities. Achievements and ormance Maln achlevements durlng the perlod: Portsmouth RMVCC has had a busy year, welcomed 37 new recrults and provided trainSn8 for up to 85 cadet5. There were a number of field exercises. including a week-long summer camp at Holcombe Moor. near Bury. Our field gun team took part in competitions and displays throughout the summer month5 Page 2

Activity Costs are covered, as necessary, through central funding and cadet subscriptions. Given this, it 15 not considered necessary for units to maintain significant reserves and the trustees consider a cash balance of at least £IOk in held in unit's bank accounts to be sufficient. Other relevant financlal Informatlon: The units of the VCC are funded through a combinatlon of cadet subscriptions and central funding from the Headquarters Volunteer Cadet Corps, which in turn receives funding under a Memorandum ofAgreement with the Royal Navy and Ministry of Defence. I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps (Portsmouth) for the year ended 31 March 2025.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps (Portsmouth) you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the 2011 Act').
I report in respect of my examination of the accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination of the accounts I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145 (5) (b) of the 2011 Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1) accounting records were not kept in respect of Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps (Portsmouth) as required by s130 of the 2011 Act; or 2) the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
