## **Insight to I.E.C.B**

## **Objective, principal activities and organization of the charity**

## **Madrassah Classes**

COVID-19 has severely restricted our objectives for 2021. Islamic Education Centre Birmingham Madrassah Classes were closed until October 2021 when the second lockdown was uplifted. At this time, the government had given us permission to reopen the educational department. We only allowed a few selected chosen children to come and gradually throughout the year we have carefully been selecting a few students at a time. As a result of COVID restrictions being lifted, we are gradually increasing class sizes. We are staying on track for our ultimate goal, which is to restore and improve education to the quality it was before the pandemic.

## **Prayers**

Congregational prayers resumed in April. All attendees were separated by 2 metres to ensure their safety. All attendees were required to bring a shoe bag, prayer mat, and mask (prayer mats and masks were provided). Attendee registration was held at the entrance before anyone entered. As a precaution, the admin had taken the name and number of the pupil, so we were able to inform and update attendees if anything had happened. Thankfully, we didn't have to take these measures once. As there were more people attending weekly Friday prayers, there were huge restrictions. With a 2-metre distance, we were only allowed 30 people. We have also

had professional security officers throughout the year to ensure social distancing on the outside. The security team has done a great job in assisting us throughout the year. We also ensured the safety of attendees by following the government guidelines, which included masks, hand sanitizers, and bags.

## **Collaboration with Bismillah Aid**

In the final few months of 2021, we were finally able to hold our weekly gatherings. This weekly gathering was a very significant part of our mosque. This explains the purpose of our lives and the articles of our faith to our attendees. It is a weekly public gathering to which anyone is welcome. We commence with the recitations of the holy Quran, then Nasheed as well as praises of our holy prophet (peace be upon him) **(Naats)** and then a small lecture at the end. finally, we serve food. Bismillah has played a huge role in supporting the gathering, by providing food packages, cutlery and helping to serve the participants. We were able to achieve a lot more with the support of Bismillah Aid. With continuous support and help, Islamic education centre will always show gratitude towards Bismillah aid Especially, when throughout the year 2021, Islamic education centre Birmingham was struggling financially with no income.
