## ANNUAL REPORT 2024/25 Registered Charity No. 1146289

## ABOUT US

## **Helping families heal, easing burdens and nurturing new beginnings.**

We are a not-for-profit charity, proudly serving our community since our founding in 2003. Our mission is simple yet deeply impactful: to provide a safe, neutral, and child-friendly environment where children can spend quality time with a parent they may no longer live with. At the heart of everything we do is the child’s right to maintain meaningful relationships with both parents—even when families face separation, conflict, or hardship.

Separation affects thousands of families every year, and the emotional toll on children can be profound. They may feel caught in the middle, confused, or even guilty. For many children, staying in touch with a non-resident parent is not just a wish—it’s a need.

Family time at our centre provides a bridge. It allows children to maintain a loving connection with both parents without being exposed to conflict or tension. In turn, this supports healthier development, emotional resilience, and stronger family ties in the long term.

## ABOUT US

**Helping families heal, easing burdens and nurturing new beginnings.** We understand that separation can be a difficult and complicated process. Emotions run high. Trust is often fragile. For some families, arranging contact between a child and an estranged parent can feel impossible. That’s where we come in.

Everything we do is based on a clear set of values that guide how we work and how we support each family. Our core values are safety, compassion, neutrality, and consistency. These values shape every part of our service—from how we welcome families, to how we manage contact sessions, to how we support parents during challenging times.

Our team of workers and volunteers are the heart of our service. Each team member is trained in child protection, safeguarding, family breakdown, substance and domestic abuse, followed by the correct way to navigate and respond during family communication. Our centre is purposefully designed to be childfriendly, warm, and inviting, with all our team members offering a smile. We provide age-appropriate toys, games, and books for all ages to help children feel at ease. We also take care to ensure that handovers are handled respectfully, with minimal disruption.

## OUR DEVELOPMENTS THIS YEAR!

We are pleased to share some exciting developments from the past year. We have begun working in partnership with _‘Contact Zone Bridgend’,_ another children’s contact centre with similar values and goals, to deliver supervised family time! We have expanded our community family time services into more local areas, including Merthyr Tydfil and Caerphilly, enabling us to reach a wider range of families. To improve accessibility, we also launched our new website— pontycentre.org —which makes it easier for families to find information and get in touch. Alongside our new website, we have introduced a new centre logo! Lastly, we’re pleased to confirm that we continue to hold the CAFCASS Cymru contract for supervised family time in our area and have been re-accredited by NACCC for another three years.

FUNDING/ GRANTS We are pleased to announce that we have received a total of £25,000 in grants from three generous organisations: £15,000 from The Moondance Foundation, £5,000 from The Kelly Family Charitable Trust, and another £5,000 from The Gibbs Family Trust. This important funding means we can keep providing safe, caring spaces where children and parents can rebuild their relationships. It helps us to offer more support, reach more families, and create positive experiences that truly change lives. With this backing, we can continue making a real difference to children who need us most. The Centre relies substantially on CAFCASS Cymru funding to deliver our service.

To our generous funders and grant-makers, thank you. Your continued support helps us make a real difference in the lives of children and families.

## VOLUNTEERS

This year, we bid farewell to our long-standing volunteer, Chris, who has been a valued member of our team for over 20 years. As Chris volunteered, she gave countless hours of her time, offering kindness, patience, and a reassuring presence to the many families she supported. Her commitment, calm nature, and genuine care she afforded over the last two decades are just a few of the things that the team will miss. We wish you the very best, Chris, and thank you!

We would also like to take a moment to recognise Andrea, who has been a committed member of our team for over ten years. We appreciate your continued dedication, compassion, and steady support at the centre.

We are deeply grateful to our volunteers—your time, care, and dedication make everything we do possible.
