TRUSTEES MESSAGE:

Dear Friends,

It is a joy to introduce this year’s Annual Report. As you read through these pages, I hope you will be as encouraged as I am. The report tells stories of lives being transformed, new leaders stepping forward, and a growing diversity within our church family. We can see clearly how God is at work among us.

As a church, we aim to give generously as God provides for us. This year, 10% of our income went to causes aligned with our mission, including Mobilise Global, Ambassadors Football, individuals serving in mission fields including with London City Mission, RenewEL, and GrowTH. We also continue to contribute to the New Ground network.

We also welcomed two new Trustees to strengthen our oversight in the vital areas of Safeguarding and Finance. We are especially grateful to Emily, who supported us voluntarily in finance and helped us ensure that our reserves are now earning interest.

This year has also brought deep sadness. In April 2025, we lost our dear friend Esther, who passed away at the age of 52. Esther was a passionate follower of Jesus, a freespirited worshipper, and a kind and caring presence to so many within and beyond the church. Though her loss has been felt deeply, it was moving to see our church community gather to celebrate her life and faith. We are thankful that her family continues to play such an active part in the life of East End Church.

What shines through this report is the way God is using East End Church to build relationships that last – friendships and connections that point us to Jesus and hold us together as a community. As an inner-city church, people often come and go, but the bonds formed in Christ remain strong. It is especially exciting to see a renewed focus on raising up young leaders in many areas of church life, bringing vibrancy and fresh faith, and we were very happy to be able to support a number of future leaders in attending the New Ground Academy.

On behalf of the Trustees, I would like to thank our staff team, who serve with such dedication, all those who volunteer their time and gifts across our ministries, and everyone who contributed to this report. Together, we are witnessing God’s kingdom grow here in the East End.

With gratitude and hope,

Ros Owen Chair of Trustees

PREACHING SERIES ~~—<—~~

Exodus

We began this year looking at the book of Exodus and the journey of Moses and the Israelites out of slavery and into freedom. We started by looking at the life of Moses, how God called and then used him to lead the Israelites. Their journey out of Egypt and through the wilderness wasn’t straightforward but we saw God’s faithfulness and provision for His people despite their disobedience and complaining.

Ephesians

After Easter we started to study the book of Ephesians together. We began by looking at who we are through Jesus, a chosen people, predestined for adoption. We then looked at grace and what it means to be a people set apart and living in the power of Holy Spirit.

John

Leading up to the Christmas season we studied the book of John, the sacrifice of Jesus and what it mean’s to be a follower of Him. We looked at the realities of obedience, sacrifice, forgiveness and trusting God’s timing. Diving deeper into the life as a disciple of Jesus and how we are called to follow Him no matter what because ultimately He alone is worth it!

04

ATTENDANCE

Over the last year we have averaged around 110 adults, 20 Kids and 8 Nippers attending each Sunday. It’s been an exciting year seeing lots of new people come along and those who are hungry and searching for Jesus.

EAST END COMMUNITY

EEC INTERNATIONAL LUNCH

After the success of the previous year we ran another International lunch. It was a joy to see people from many different nations sit together, sharing food and community. We were joined by many asylum seekers who enjoyed the opportunity to share some of their favourite dishes from their home countries. Seeing people feasting and chatting together and being able to share the love of Jesus across cultural and language barriers was a joy.

MEETING WITH GOD

On the last Thursday of each month we gathered to worship and pray together. There is no agenda other than to sit at the feet of Jesus and worship Him, giving Him our attention and glorifying Him. It has been amazing for Holy Spirit come in our midst and meet with us as we come and simply be.

EQUIPPING SERIES

In March we had 2 evenings of gathering together and looking at the topic of How to Hear God’s Voice. We looked through the Bible at examples of how God speaks in many ways and looked at practical examples of how we can listen and not miss Him speaking to us. We heard encouraging testimonies and practiced listening to God together.

Real Life Issues

Life throws us so many challenges and as we walk with Jesus each day there can be many situations and questions we face. We want to be a church which speaks into the reality of life and tackle these things together in community. Over the year we met together and looked at: -Dealing with Disappointment -Politics, with guest speaker Tim Farron -Sacrifice

06

BOX UP CRIME

We have continued as a church to run boxing sessions on Friday evenings in loose association with Box Up crime. Although there hasn't been much contact with Box up recently, we have now recruited two new trainers to help with the sessions - both serving as vicars in East London! We’ve seen steady numbers and the youngsters that attend regularly have certainly benefited from the new coaches’ experience. With the new personnel, we’ve been able to hone existing skills, ramp up fitness and start sparring more regularly. At the end of each session, we pray with those who have trained and we see God breaking down barriers, as this is often the first contact many of them have had with real followers of Jesus.

We look forward to this coming year and pray for more people to come, for trust to grow with those looking on from outside the church and many opportunities to share the reason for our hope in a broken world.

07

EAST END YOUTH

East End Youth is a place for teenagers to get together, have fun, build friendships and get to know God. Historically, the group has been mainly young people from families in the church, but increasingly we are receiving lots of young people who are new to the country and area. A shout out to Ronnie Gray who has been the leader of the walking bus, bringing lots of young people from Bethnal Green to meet in Bow. We meet every other Friday in local homes, at the park or doing activities in the area. The young people are open to discussions and considering the world around them; it is so refreshing to be able to share the Gospel with people who are willing to scrutinize it in search of truth.

We have a diverse group of young people, ranging in age, nationality, ethnicity and faith. But we are able to build friendships and explore the Bible together. This year we used Vaughan Roberts 'God's Big Picture', as a way to explore the big story of the Bible, seeing how Jesus’ death and resurrection was always God's plan to reconcile us with him.

Last year we took 30 young people to Newday, to join nearly 10,000 other young people in worship and hearing the truth of Christ. All this was made even more enjoyable with the blessing of Nigel's famous cooking!

Next year we hope to grow the youth leaders team and raise up young leaders too. We'd love to continue reading the word together and also knitting the young people into the life of the church.

08

EAST END NANS

Tom and I (Lisa) have had the privilege of hosting "Nans" in the Roman rd area for years now, and it remains one of the highlights of the church calendar and our own diaries! Despite its somewhat misleading name, "Nans" is a beautiful, mixed group of seasoned adults! We continue to be marked by refreshing, honest conversations and a lot of laughter.

We meet every other Tuesday in a local café, sharing our lives

over coffee and, of course, the occasional biscuits and cakes. This year has brought a real vibrancy with new regular attendees, which we recognize as an answer to prayer. However, we have missed a few of our regular members due to health issues and continue to pray for their well-being.

One of the new ventures this year has been introducing "Bible Chat Tuesday" every third meeting at Benita's flat. It's been a rewarding experience to weave these discussions into our regular gatherings. Tom shares a small chunk of scripture and leads a lively discussion where every question is welcome. Just recently, Joe posed profound questions like "Why are we here?" and "What is our purpose?"

A memorable moment came after discussing Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. At the following café meeting, Miranda arrived with a bag full of fig leaves! It was hilarious as we passed them around, appreciating their usefulness as both coverings and, surprisingly as hats! Thankfully, no one felt led to demonstrate how Adam and Eve might have worn them!

We also enjoyed our Christmas social at Benita's home, benefiting from Janice's delicious homemade treats. Our most recent privilege was to have our very own caretaker from Raines join us at the café. It's moments like these that highlight how warm and welcoming this group truly is.

We are grateful for the many ways God has been at work in and through "Nans." Thank you for your ongoing prayers and support for this cherished group in the heart of the East End.

EAST END STREET PRAYER

One morning before heading out, our team spent some time in worship and prayer. During this time, one of our team prayed God would bring people to us who needed His help. Here’s what happened next:

A woman (living a few streets away) shared that she felt as though someone was shaking her up. She then heard a voice in her head urging her to get up and go to the market. At first, she resisted

because she had no money and thought there was no point in going. She had been struggling with severe depression and had spent the past two years mostly in bed. For the last two weeks, she hadn’t even had the energy to wash her hair or care for herself.

Despite her doubts, the voice continued encouraging her to go to the market, so eventually, she decided to go. Once there, she met two of our team members, who saw her and offered to pray for her. She agreed, and as they prayed, she felt something lift off her. She described the experience as feeling like her life had changed. Afterward, she went to get her eyebrows done, washed her hair, and felt completely different. She was deeply thankful to Jesus for what He had done in her life.

This last year, we've had the privilege of seeing Jesus at work on the streets of East London, as we've stepped out seeking to love our community, and see where Jesus is at work and join in. We've loved praying and worshipping together as a team before we go out, and has felt that as we do that God has been battling for us in the spiritual realm, and preparing people for us to meet. Kev (now joined by Miranda) has continued to run a bible study each week in local cafe's. And we've loved taking people to Encounter camp each year, hanging out together, some X-factor karaoke performances, authentic and powerful worship times and seeing Jesus powerfully encounter people and bring hope and freedom.

10

EAST END YOUNG ADULTS

Over this past year the church has been blessed by having new young people attending and getting fully embedded into East End Church, with some of them becoming regular members of Young Adults. We try to encourage members of the group to recognise and use the gifts God’s given them by giving opportunities to lead sessions. And it’s been great to see some get more comfortable in this and sharing these skills in contexts outside of Young Adults.

A typical meeting is a Bible study, and series we covered over the last year were:

In July 2024, there was a sunny trip to Clacton-On-Sea. We hoped that aside from some painful sunburn, those who went left it feeling refreshed and also deepened bonds with one another. A beautiful product of Young Adults is the friendships that have formed, with members knowing they’re in a trusted and supportive group.

We’d like to thank everyone who helped and supported Young Adults this year: the Costers for their selfless hosting, the Sextons for their wise counsel, and all those who came and shared with the group. Please continue to pray for us and our generation. God has placed each member of Young Adults in a unique setting, pray that we’ll have boldness to shine God’s light and share His truth in those settings.

Over the past year, the Women’s Ministry at East End Church has continued to build friendships, and discipleship and encourage each over our monthly Saturday breakfasts and local café visits! Each month is an opportunity for women to come together, share life, chat, challenge and pray with one another and continue to build on what God is already doing in London’s East End.

We began in January with a morning of breakfast and testimony, setting the tone for a year of shared stories of God’s faithfulness. Monthly café gatherings in May, July, October, January, and March is also relaxed space for women to connect and build community and welcome new women to EEC too. In June, a highlight of the year was our Women's Weekend at New Chapel Farm—a short time of rest, reflection, and going deeper with God and one another. 32 women met together in the beautiful countryside of Suffolk and much fun was had! September featured interviews and testimonies, celebrating how God is working in the lives of women in the East End. At the end of November we enjoyed our annual Christmas breakfast – celebrating the talented and crafty women amongst us with a small local market, and a Christmas story shared by a member of our Brazilian church family.

We began and ended this year with a time of worship (and more breakfast!). We are thankful for so many things - and look forward with much hope and expectation for what God will continue to do in us and through us as we continue to gather.

Psalm 98 – Sing to the Lord a new song for he has done marvellous things.

12

EAST END CHURCH MENS

This year, the East End Church Men's Ministry continued its mission: giving blokes a good excuse to hang out, eat too much, occasionally get competitive, and somewhere in the mix grow in faith and friendship.

We set out with a simple goal: help men to be real about their faith and go deeper with Jesus without making things awkward. We’re happy to report that thanks to pub nights, breakfast gatherings, football tournaments and one very questionable canoeing experience, mission accomplished.

This year, we’ve seen that men thrive when there’s something to do and someone to talk to. We’re not naturally wired for “deep chats,” but give us a football, a canoe, or a bacon sandwich, and suddenly the walls come down. God’s been at work in the in-between moments—on the walk to the pub, over coffee at breakfast, during the cool-down after football. It’s been great to see what God is doing in the lives of EEC men, especially when you hear where many of the journeys to following Jesus started.

“THANK YOU, HEAVENLY FATHER, FOR DIRECTING MY FOOTSTEPS TO THE EAST END CHURCH. THE HUMILITY, CAMARADERIE, KINDNESS AND WORSHIP WITH THIS FAMILY. I NEVER KNEW FELLOWSHIP LIKE THIS EXISTED. MY LAST THREE WEEKENDS WERE SO FRUITFUL AND AWESOME. THE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT AND TESTIMONY FRIDAY, CHURCH SUNDAY MORNING FOLLOWED BY CANOEING, BBQ AND GAMES WITH THE MEN, AWESOME.”

13

EAST END KIDS

EEK started 2024 following Moses and the Exodus with the help of our hapless superhero Soupman. In the summer term we asked the question Who is God? Looking through Ephesians. We finished the year with David (said A € with a French accent) the hair model discovering more f about Jesus and that ‘He is worth it!’ ri . et #

The EEKs have continued to bring their friends to EEK for messy games, fun and of course chocolate! We've loved having kids from all over the world coming to get to know the one really worth knowing.

Some of the team have also been into 6 primary schools in Bethnal Green and Whitechapel to do interactive, fun assemblies telling kids and staff what Christmas and Easter are all about. We are looking forward to going to more schools next year.

GROW TH

This past winter, from January to March, East End Church once again partnered with GrowTH and a wide variety of other Churches across the Borough to host the emergency winter Night Shelter - showing hospitality, care, and Christ's love to those most vulnerable and marginalised in Tower Hamlets.

Again, EEC partnered with Victoria Park Baptist Church who provided their building, with us providing an enthusiastic volunteer team each Saturday night. Nearly a dozen volunteers would come together each week to make the evening, night, and morning shifts happen. The homeless men & women were welcomed into the Shelter where, in the evening, they would be provided with a warm and relaxing space, a delicious dinner, conversation and friendship. Overnight volunteers would ensure they had their own bed that was safe and secure. And in the morning, new volunteers would ensure that all the guests got breakfast, before clearing up the entire venue.

One of the real highlights of hosting the Shelter as a Church is being able to hold important faith conversations, and run Bible Studies, with the guests. These have resulted in close bonds being formed, relationships built, and a few of the guests coming regularly to Church on a Sunday! It is wonderful to be able to represent Jesus in a holistic way as a Church - serving those men & women who are at the lowest point in their lives in such a practical and caring way - whilst also being able to attend to their spiritual needs and point them to the hope that can be found in Jesus.

GrowTH are extremely thankful to each and every EEC member who served the guests during last season; whether that was in the setting up of beds, cooking of a meal, sleeping overnight, leading of a Bible study, or any other valued volunteering job that was done - everyone has been happy to do whatever was needed whether it was a big or small task! Over the course of the whole season 140 homeless guests were given shelter, with 83 being supported into more permanent and more positive onward accommodation. 6 guests reported giving their lives to Jesus through the work of the shelter.

It is a privilege to be able to serve those in the shelter - and we look forward to partnering again next winter as we serve the last, lost, and least in our community together, and practically show them God's love!

ASYLUM SEEKER OUTREACH PE Ss me | ‘=, ——_— ‘pg ~~w~~ ey en ss,

After God opened the door a few years ago to a local hostel housing many asylum seekers we have been amazed to see what God has done and the doors He continues to open. With people from over 30+ nations right on our door step we are having opportunities to share the gospel with people from many nations where it would normally be illegal. A big part of what we do is building relationships, getting alongside people and getting to show the love of Jesus as we walk this part of their journey with them.

Each week we take some of the women on a walk in the local area and enjoy getting to know them more over coffee. We have been introducing them to the area and helping them connect with each other as well as improve their English. We also take some of the kids to the East End Academy each week as well as kids club on a Sunday. One of the mums told us East End Kids is one of their daughters favourite part of the week and she wakes up every morning asking is it kids club today! It’s been a joy to see the kids connect and hear them retelling the stories of Jesus they have learnt each Sunday.

We have also continued to enjoy inviting them for lunch each week to Lindsey’s house where we get to share food together, building community, helping them practice english, and over time get to share with them about Jesus and His love for them. Life can be really difficult starting in a new area in a new country with little or no english and no family or community around you. Being able to connect with many of these families is a life line, helping them connect to us as a community and each other. We also had the opportunity to take some of the families on a trip to the zoo. This was a fun day and a great time for people to enjoy a day with family and friends, resting from what is often a stressful and unpredictable journey of seeking asylum.

Last year we began a bible study amongst the asylum seekers and it has grown to be a blessing to so many in the building and outside also. Meeting to share a meal together and then worship and pray, we have seen God meet with us and take us deeper with Him. It is always such a joy to worship together in many languages and to see people come to life as they worship Jesus in their own heart language. An amazing opportunity came when we got to sing in for an event on refugee week a Tower Hamlets Town Hall. To be able to worship and praise Jesus at this event was a privilege and a door only Jesus could open!

Through International Meals and our Christmas lunch we have seen many of the asylum seekers come along to church and connect through sharing food together. For many who have never been to a church before this can often be a big step and days like this have enabled them to come and see what a community of Jesus followers is like. This has opened many doors for us with families and helped grow trust and opportunities to share Jesus. A big joy was serving lunch on Christmas Day and inviting many people to join us who didn’t have anywhere to go or families to share with. It was an amazing day and a delight to see people together.

We continue to see God moving and are excited for how He continues to lead and the people He will continue to link us to.

RENEW EL

We’re delighted to share some exciting developments from the past few months as we continue to grow, both literally and as a team!

In September, we welcomed our new Operations Manager; Jimmy, whose wealth of experience and leadership has been a real blessing. With their guidance and the dedication of our existing team, we’re feeling more aligned and energised than ever. There’s a real sense of unity and purpose within our work, and it shows in everything we’re creating.

One of our proudest achievements to date has been the transformation of The Gallery Café Garden. This large-scale project included the installation of two beautiful pergolas, handcrafted decking, bespoke seating areas, and vibrant planting. It's now a space that not only looks fantastic but also invites rest, connection, and joy for everyone who visits.

We’ve also been working on the development of Ranwell West, a truly special initiative that’s brought local residents together to grow fruit and veg right in the heart of our neighbourhood. It’s been heartwarming to see community spirit blossom alongside the harvest!

Our latest client was thrilled with her garden; she said, "Everyone worked so hard - I know those stairs were probably the hardest part, and I especially wanted to acknowledge Can for his dedication and hard work as he kept the project moving. All your team - Jimmy and Tony included were so kind, knowledgeable and easy to work with." Head over to our Instagram page to check out more; @reneweastlondon.

Looking ahead, there’s a wonderful vacant space nearby that we would love to transform into a beautiful garden for all to enjoy. It’s a place full of potential, and we can already envision it becoming a peaceful haven and vibrant hub. We would truly appreciate your prayers as we seek the go-ahead to bring this vision to life.

Thank you for continuing to support and encourage our work in the community, it means more than you know. With gratitude,

Rachel and The Team @ RenewEL

EAST END ACADEMY

East End Church, in partnership with Ambassadors Football, continued to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young and now also old with the introduction of walking football and ladies football sessions.

Mixed sessions for adult walking football, ladies only training and children’s sessions for 5 - 15 year olds took place on a weekly basis.

Combining football training with faith-based discussions, East End Academy has become a place where people can come, bring friends along to enjoy football, but also grow in character, confidence, and understanding of the Bible.

Over the course of the year, 150 people have engaged with East End football, half were children and young people. The other half adults, all came from a range of ethnic, cultural, and social backgrounds— reflecting the vibrant diversity of East London.

‘Football has such a way of encouraging people. My friend went to the London Churches Tournament with the EEC team, she’s just started exploring the faith but it’s motivated her to come to young adults and ladies football.’’ Bianca

“I never expected to enjoy walking football as much as I have, it’s been a big help in me getting out of my comfort zone.” oe oe
