Achievements and erformance
Summary of the main
a¢hievements of the Charity
during the year
Last year's report lamenled the paucity of activity due to Ihe enforced
pandemic restrictions. Although restrictions have gently eased over the
past twelve months, caution has been everyone's buzzword.
As such, there has again been very little in-person activity as government
and individual reticence has dampened the appetite for gatherings. As
such, we have beavered in the background. garnering donations as far as
we can while aiming towards a celebration in the New Year of 2022 for
the 10th Anniversary of the DHA.
We have maintained our communications with our Trustees I Patrons and
have welcomed new Trustees to our committee- Sheila and Fr Johnson
who have been supported the charity since the autumn.
We are also delighted to announce that Sir Iqbal Sacranie. former
Chairman of the Muslim Council of Great Britain, has graciously agreed lo
grant us his patronage and thanks lo the efforts of our new Trustee,
I Sheila Hyde-Bailey, we now also have the patronage of Her Excellency
Nomatemba Tambo, the South African High Commissioner. We will
continue to build relationships with other trusts and charitable bodies who
may be sympathetic to our work through 2022 and beyond.
We continue lo maintain regular Gommunicalions with the DHC in Durban
and are responding lo their evolving situation.

## **Independent examiner’s report to The Denis Hurley Association**

I report to the Trustees on my examination of the accounts of The Denis Hurley Association for the year ended 31st December 2021.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**

As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent Examiner’s statement**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

- the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or

- the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or

- the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
