Activities
Our core aim is to raise Literacy Standards in Merthyr Tydfil and the valleys . Poor literacy means that young people do not gain the life chances they deserve and as a result have limited job and career prospects. The Trust achieves this through numerous initiatives in the community and its Bursary and internship programme.
Objects: To Further Such Charitable Purposes (charitable Under English Law) For The Benefit Of The Public In Wales As The Trustees See Fit From Time To Time In Particular But Not Limited To The Following: (a) Relieving Those In Financial Need, Hardship Or Distress; (b) Relieving Poverty; (c) Promoting Social Inclusion By Working With And Supporting Socially Excluded People So They Can Play A Fuller Part In Their Communities And So That Their Conditions Of Life May Improve; (d) Advancing Education And Training; (e) Promoting And Undertaking Research (including Publishing The Useful Results For The Benefit Of The Public); (f) Developing The Capacity And Skills Of The Members Of Socially And Economically Disadvantaged Communities In Wales In Such A Way That They Are Better Able To Identify, And Help Meet, Their Needs And To Participate More Fully In Society; (g) Promoting Volunteering To Achieve Any Charitable Purpose For The Benefit Of The Public (falling Within The Descriptions Of Purposes Set Out In Part 1 Of The Charities Act 2006); And (h) Advancing In Life And Relieving The Needs Of Young People Through The Provision Of Support And Activities Which Develop Their Skills, Capacities And Capabilities To Enable Them To Participate In Society As Mature And Responsible Individuals.
