## **Notes to the accounts for the year 2025** 

The Ascent schools project was largely completed in 2024 , but it did incur some expenditure in 2025, mainly the electrical connection to the site and some building snagging work. 

The charity continued to support the running cost of the school but this should be the last year of support from Building Malawi. 

One other residue from earlier projects was the need to pay for weevil treatment to the bamboo hall. 

The new project in 2025 was the agreement with the Charity MSP Malawi. 

Under this agreement MSP paid £50,000 to Building Malawi for the development of an accommodation block for female pupils. £48,800 was spent on this project in 2025. 

Also part of the agreement is that MSP would take over the running and financing of the school. 

The second major project in the year was the purchase of land adjacent to the Lingadzi . The purchase of this land and the subsequent building of an extension to the wall has enclosed the new accommodation block within the secure boundary of the Lingadzi site. Also it has created an additional dwelling that can be used to accommodate a security guard. 

Although not separately identified on the accounts, £6,000 of the final balance is a residue from the “aeroplane” project and should be seen as ring fenced until the donor indicates how they want it spent. 

During the year, partly due to the lack of availability of the treasurer , some payments were arranged by the Chair
