Working closely with a local European Educational and training charity, the pre-school welcomes a small number of European volunteers on work placements from a few weeks to a year, providing the children with the opportunity to experience other languages, cultures and traditions first hand.

You **may choose** to include further statements, where relevant, about:

Organising events that bring the community together, promoting both parents and children’s socialisation and the enhancement of communication, personal, emotional, and social development (in particular post Covid 19).

## Section D Achievements and performance

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**

## **Activities**

We continued to run our Nature Club which provided opportunities for children to develop holistically in the outdoors and welcomed use of the local woods and beach.

In the Summer Term, we welcomed children and families for the annual Leaver’s Picnic. This time we ran it at Mount Edgcumbe Park, which was very successful.

We ran a lovely trip to the Theatre Royal to watch the production of Pinocchio.

We held events for our children and the public such as a Valentines Disco, Easter Eggstravoganza and Halloween Trail. This encouraged expression of interests for new starters.

## **Pupil numbers**

- Summer Term: 27 children. 23 of which were funded.

- • Autumn Term: 24 children, 15 of which were funded. • Spring Term: 27 children, 17 of which were funded.

**Kingfisher’s Staff Staff Training under taken this year includes -** Safeguarding, prevent, FGM, CSE & CCE training First Aid Food Hygiene New EYFS and curriculum planning Maths and writing Speech, language and communication One member finished her degree in early childhood education.

## **New Staff:**

Section D                      Achievements and performance

## **Our Staff Team**

The Kingifsher staff team is made up of highly skilled and experienced members. They have continued to provide children of the community with outstanding care, even throughout times of financial uncertainty for the charity. The children continue to receive an enriching, broad and balanced curriculum. We reviewed pay levels at the end of March 2022, in line with NMW increases, sadly our funding levels didn’t increase at the same level so we were unable to offer any additional pay increases to our team.

## **Fundraising**

This year saw a fantastic fundraising effort by the committee, these included - Bag to school collection £132 Easter raffle – £195.00 May Day stall - £235.50 Quiz and Curry night – £502.00 Summer fundraiser – £102.50 Halloween trail - £263.00 Race Night - £1557.60 Christmas Raffle - £314.76 Valentines Disco - £114.90 Donations from the Spar, The Garrison, 2[nd] Hand Sundays and Amazon Also an anonymous donation - £500.00 Total= £3,916.76

## **Section E                    Financial review**

**Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves**

The Pre-school only has 1 current account. The aim of the Pre-school is to keep three months of salary payments and running costs in the Current Account at all times. Unfortunately, due to the discrepancies in increases in National Minimum wage, minimal funded children and costs increases this hasn’t been achieved.

**Details of any funds materially in deficit**

Nil

## **Further financial review details (Optional information)**

You **may choose** to include additional information, where relevant about:

- the charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising);

- how expenditure has supported the key objectives of the charity;

The Pre School is primarily funded by the Early Years funding from Cornwall County Council. This is topped up by some children being funded direct from their parents. This funding is used to pay the direct costs (wages, utilities, snacks, etc.) of the Pre School.

Fundraising activities are used to pay for the purchase of fixed assets, toys and books. It may also be used to subsidise social events, such as trips to the theatre.

- investment policy and objectives including any ethical investment policy adopted.
