Objectives
The charity’s objects are:
-
(1) To educate, based on Christian ethos, the public concerning the benefits of marriage and family life in order to improve the emotional, sexual and spiritual well-being of individuals which is derived from committed relationships;
-
(2) To seek to enhance, the good health, both mental and physical, of adults and children by increasing public awareness of the benefit of marriage, and family life;
-
(3) To promote research into all of the above objectives and to make the results available to the public.
To achieve the above objectives, the organisation organise Marriage Enrichment Retreat (MER) in various part of the UK based on the curriculum designed by CFFC International.
Following the anticipated goals in the past five years, CFFC UK regularly organised marriage courses in different parts of UK, strengthened MER couples by establishing three regional co-ordinating committees, and further enhanced the promotion of the marriage courses by frequent contact with other churches and organisations.
The trustees set up a restricted fund in 2013 in preparation of staff employment in the future.
The trustees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities the charity should undertake.
Activities and Achievements
-
Our basic marriage course (MER1) provides knowledge and communication skills for married couples to enhance their relationship. During 2024, six MER1 courses were held in UK and Europe, with 62 participating couples who gave very positive feedbacks.
-
Our advanced marriage course (MER2) enables married couples to deepen their relationship at the same time to enhance their Christian faith. During 2024, no MER2 course was held.
-
Our leader couple training (LCT) aims to train up leader couple to assist the teaching and training of participants of the MER1 course. During 2024, no LCT course was held.
-
During 2024, there was no new trustee joining the CFFC UK Board.
-
During the past year, the Board has streamlined regional teams into London and South East England region; and the North England region. Members of these teams met about a few times a year (mainly online) to discuss planning of activities for the regions.
-
Our mission outreach to Europe continued with helping local teams to run marriage courses and to organise marriage seminars for local Chinese churches. Outreach trips (including some UK directors and the International President) visited some Chinese churches in the UK (including London, Manchester, Birmingham & Sutton) and Italy in 2024.
-
During the past year, some leader couples continued to make regular contact with couples who participated in marriage courses in recent years to do follow up programme and offer advice and encouragements.
-
The board of directors recruited one part-time admin assistant in April 2024.

TRUSTEES REPORT (CONTINUED)
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024
- It is worth noting that a retreat weekend was held for all co-workers free of charge (voluntary contributions accepted). The purpose was brainstorming, team building, and setting objectives, particularly in light of the recent influx of people from Hong Kong. In addition to the Chair and President taking mission trips to Europe, we also sponsored travel expenses for leader couples who assisted churches in Europe to run MERs. These were regarded as “on-the-job training,” helping to enhance their skills and knowledge for service back in the UK.
Royalties paid were high and are expected to remain so, as the International CFFC HQ revised the charge per couple upwards. Unfortunately, handbooks had to be shipped from Taiwan by air, which increased costs. We also procured specifically designed T-shirts (uniforms) for co-workers and souvenirs for MER guests. Furthermore, we upgraded our advertising in a Christian free newsletter, which in return allowed us to place MER attendee testimonies free of charge in their publication.
Financial review
In 2024, the unrestricted fund for the year has a total income of £56,024 and a total expenditure of £59,366, showing a deficit of £3,343.
At the end of 2024, the restricted fund for future full time worker has a total of £23,535 including interest earned of £1,209.
It is the policy of the charity that unrestricted funds which have not been designated for a specific use should be maintained at a level equivalent to between three and six month’s expenditure. The trustees consider that reserves at this level will ensure that, in the event of a significant drop in funding, they will be able to continue the charity’s current activities while consideration is given to ways in which additional funds may be raised. This level of reserves has been maintained throughout the year.
