## **RE: REPORT AND ACCOUNTS FOR KINGSTONE UGANDA PROJECT FOR THE PERIOD OF APRIL 2023 TO MARCH 2024.** 

## **1. Introduction:** 

Kingstone Uganda Project is a UK-based charity dedicated to supporting Kingstone Secondary School in Uganda, Busagazi community primary school and other UK charitable activites. Our mission is to provide affordable or free education to Ugandan children, particularly those who are vulnerable and disadvantaged. Over the past year, we have worked tirelessly to support Kingstone Secondary school due to limited funding, though we intend to support the two school, by paying for teachers' salaries and undertaking developmental work to improve educational facilities. 

## **Charity objectives:** 

For the benefit of the public in uganda:- a) to advance education by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education including pre-school, primary and secondary education and an adult skills training school. b) to relieve poverty for the public benefit by such means as the trustees determine. c) the promotion of equality and diversity for the public benefit by: (i) the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of race, gender, disability , sexual orientation or religion; (ii) advancing education and raising awareness in equality and diversity; (iii) promoting activities to foster understanding between people from diverse backgrounds; 

## **2. Financial Summary:** 

- Total Income is: £47,032 

- Total Expenditure: £41000 spent on the Ugandan school and £6000 on other UK charitable activities, totaling £47000. 

- Net Income: £47,032 - £47000 = £32. 

## **3. Detailed Expenditure** : 

## a. **Kingstone Secondary School, Uganda:** 

- Grant for Teachers' Salaries: £19,500 

- Grant for Construction of Kitchen: £5520 

- Grant for buying Gate house to work as administration block: £8500 

- Grant for renovation of floors: £2215 

- Grant for Finishing the Computer Laboratory: £3,500 

- Grant for Motorcycle for the school: £1300 

- Grant for Equipping the Computer Laboratory (including computers, internet installation): £2000 

- Grant for Equipping the School with other equipment (whiteboards, projectors and other items): £7965 

## **b. UK Charitable activities:** 

Grant for Youth programs (talent development, entertainment, career guidance and motivation): £6000 which was mainly used to pay the wages of individuals for the services rendered and as well for the venues used and all the logistics involved in the organisation. 

## **4. Donations and fundraising:** 

- Total Donations Received: 47032 

- £1320 from individual donors 

- £45,712 donated by the Firdale Christian Trust 



## **Fundraising Activities:** 

- No fundraising activities were conducted during the reporting period. 

## **5. Impact and Achievements:** 

## **Support Provided to Kingstone Secondary School, Uganda:** 

- Number of Children Supported: The charity has supported a significant number of children at Kingstone Secondary School, providing them with access to affordable or free education. 

- Educational Improvements: The charity's contributions have led to substantial improvements in the educational facilities at Kingstone Secondary School. This includes the construction of a new kitchen, finishing of the computer laboratory, and equipping the school with necessary equipment such as whiteboards, projectors, and computers. 

- Community Impact: The charity's work has had a positive impact on the local community, providing opportunities for children to receive a quality education and improving the overall educational standards in the area. 

## **UK Charitable Activities:** 

- Youth Programs: Although no specific fundraising activities were conducted, the charity has supported youth programs in the UK, including talent development, entertainment, career guidance, and motivation. These programs have provided valuable support and guidance to young people in the UK. 

## **6. Governance and Management:**

- Matthew Milburn (Head Trustee) 

## **Key Personnel:** 

The key persons of the charity are Moses Nyanzi and Matthew Milburn who are responsible for soliciting funds for the trust and liaising with the projects directors and managers in Uganda and the UK to ensure effectiveness in all operations 

## **Governance Structure:** 

The charity is governed by a board of trustees, with Moses Nyanzi and Matthew Milburn serving as the heads. The trustees are responsible for making strategic decisions and ensuring that the charity fulfills its mission and objectives. 

## **Policies and Procedures:** 

The charity has established policies and procedures to guide its operations, including financial management, fundraising, and program implementation. 

## **Compliance:** 

The charity is committed to compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including those set forth by the Charity Commission for England and Wales. 

## **7. Future Plans:** 

## **Continued Support for Schools, Uganda:** 

The charity plans to continue its support for Kingstone Secondary School and Busagazi community Primary school (mentioned in the introduction), focusing on improving educational facilities, providing ongoing teacher training, and expanding educational opportunities for students. 

## **Expansion of Youth Programs in the UK:** 

The charity aims to expand its youth programs in the UK, with a focus on reaching more young people and providing them with valuable skills and opportunities for personal development. 



## **Fundraising and Sustainability:** 

The charity plans to explore new fundraising initiatives to ensure its long-term sustainability and ability to continue its charitable activities both in Uganda and the UK. 

## **Community Engagement and Partnerships:** 

The charity intends to strengthen its engagement with the local community in Uganda and seek partnerships with other organizations to maximize its impact and reach.

## **9. Declaration of Trustee Responsibilities:** 

The trustees of Kingstone Uganda Project acknowledge and accept their responsibilities for the charity's activities and finances. They declare that:

4. They have maintained accurate and up-to-date records of the charity's activities and finances, ensuring that they are available for scrutiny when required. 

5. They have taken appropriate steps to identify and manage any risks to the charity, including implementing appropriate policies and procedures. 

The trustees hereby declare that they have discharged their duties as trustees of Kingstone Uganda Project to the best of their abilities and in accordance with the law. 

## **10. Conclusion:** 

In conclusion, Kingstone Uganda Project has diligently pursued its charitable objectives, providing essential support to Kingstone Secondary School in Uganda and engaging in valuable youth programs in the UK. The trustees have demonstrated a strong commitment to governance and management, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. The charity has effectively managed its finances, with transparency and accountability at the forefront of its operations.
