FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 AUGUST 2025
The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of company law, present their report with
financial statements of the Charity for the year ended 31 August 2025.
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the accounting poli¢ies Set out in note 1 to the accounts
and Comply with the company's governing deeds, the Charities Act 2011 and "Accounting and Reporting by
Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance
with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffeelive 1
January 20191"
Objectlves and activities

Yardley Wood Baptist Charitable Company was established by Yardley Wood Baptist Church initially to operate
and manage the activities of an edu¢alion ¢entre designed to provide allernalive provision education to young
people who were excluded or are al risk of exclusion from mainstream education. At the end of August 2019,
the education centre was c105ed, and Yardley Wood Baptist Church opened a Ioc81 Food P8ntry.
This is a social franchise arrangement with Your Local Pantry I Church Action on Poverty, and it's aim is to
provide basic food and provision to people in need in the local Community using the model of a shop selling
donated and surplus lood at a much reduced price.
The Food Pantry shop opened in October 2019 and is run by volunteers from the church and local community,
with help from staff at the church and operates out the premises of Yardley Wood Baptist Church.
Achievements and performance
Over the year, Pantry membership has been around 130, with a reach lo 350 household members, including 125
children. There were 3,275 visits aver8ging 270 per month so each member visiting twice each month. The Pantry
is run by a part-time Pantry Manager and a number of volunteers, many of whom come from the Pantry
membership. During the year one of the Panly volunteers ha5 gone on lo paid employment.
Our members pay £5 for a shop, with the opportunity lo shop once a week. The value of the average shop often
exceeds £35 and rarely dips below £25. We also provide a social hub for the local community through our 'Place of
Welcome,, Including English courses, craft activities. good quality second-hand clothes and books and DVD'S.

Finan¢lal revlgw
Income for the year amounted to £46,524 12024 £47,774) and expenditure £51,393 12024 £55.6991. This
resulted in a deficit of1£4,868112024 deficrt of £7,926) and a decrease in funds for the year to £33,02312024
£37,892).

1115 the policy of the charity that unreslricled funds which have not been designated lor a specific use should be
maintained at a level equivalent lo between three and nine month's expenditure. This is c£12k - £37k based on the
25126 budget. The trustees consider that reserves at this level will ensure that, in the event of a significant drop in
funding, they will be able to continue the charitable company's current activities while consideration is given lo
ways in which additional funds could be raised. This level of reserves has been maintained throughout the year.

None of the trustees has any beneficial interest in the company. All of the Iruslees are members of the
company and guarantee lo conlritsule £1 in the event of a winding up.
The tsusteesare conversanlwilh the pra¢li¢al work of the charitable company and are encouraged to farniliarise
themselves with the charitable company's memorandum and articles, and the various Charity Commission
publications signposted through the commission's guide "The Essential Trustee"
The Iruslees share major decisions that are noted in the board minutes. They lake joint responsibility of
decision making and for the implementation of such decisions.
The INSt￿ have assessed the major risks lo which the charitable company is exposed, and are satisfied
that systems are in place lo mitigate exposure to the major risks.
