Sertlon C Oblertives and activltles
Community groups across Hyndburn collaborate to secure external funding for local projects, while offering
mutual support around community consultations and event delivery. The Forum works in partnership with
Hyndburn Borough Council to achieve and maintain Green Flag status for our parks, and seNes as a shared
platform for raising concerns, exchanging ideas, and promoting best practice in the stewardship of our
green spaces.

During this reporting period, Hyndburn Green Spaces Forum has continued to strengthen community
stewardship of local green spates through a range of impactful activities..
Secured External Fundin8.' Supported member 8roups in successful bids for environmental and

community project funding, enabling improvements to parks, gardens, and shared spaces.
Enhanced Volunteer Collaboration.. Facilitated peer support and knowledge-sharing across groups,
particularly around event planning, consultation processes, and inclusive engagement.
Green Flag Success.. Worked in partnership with Hyndburn Borough Council to maintain and
expand Green Flag status acr055 key parks, celebrating quality standards and community pride.
Platform for Advocacy and Best Practice-. Provided a trusted space for raising concerns, sharing
solutions. and promoting good practice in the management and development of green spaces.
Community Events and Consultations: Enabled and supported a variety of public events and
consultations, ensuring local voices are heard and celebrated in shapin8 8reen space use.
These achievements reflect the Forum's ongoing commitment to collaboration, sustainability, and public
benefit ensurin8 Hyndburn's green spaces remain vibrant, inclusive, and well-loved by the tommunities
they se¢ve.

Green Flags
Multiple volunteers from a wide range of community 8roups contributed to the Green Flag judging process
in partnership with Hyndburn Borough Council. Their involvement reflects the strong collaborative spirit
across the borough and the shared commitment to maintaining high-qualityi welcoming and well-manoged
parks. The outcomes of the 2025 judging will be released shortly, but HGSF remains confident and hopeful
that Hyndburn's Green Flag Award-winning parks will continue to demonstrate excellent standards and
achieve further success.
Frlends of Arden Hall & The Coppice delivered a strong and meaningful year of activity in 2025,
strengthening both the natural environment and community enga8ement within this much-loved local
nature rese￿e.
Environmental Improvements & Site Enhancements
2025 saw significant progress in improving accessibility, comfort and enjoyment for visitors..
Installation of four new community benches, funded through Groundwork's Grassroots Grants and
the Prospects Foundation Windfall Fund.
Benche5 were professionally prepared and installed by Woody IHyndburn CICI, enhancing rest
points and viewpoints across the reseNe.
Interpretation plaques were commissioned and prepared for installation, recognising funders and
celebrating community involvement.
Ongoing habitat care, including path maintenance, litter reduction, and monitoring of wildlife
areas.
These improvements have made the reseNe more welcoming for walkers, families, older residents and
wellbeing groups.
Town Greening Projects & Pocket Garden - In 2025, Hyndburn's Town Greening Projects continued to
enhance the borough's urban environment through collaborative planting, improved biodiversity and
increased community involvement. Volunteers from multiple Friends groups worked alon8side
Hyndburn Borough Council to deliver seasonal planting schemes, maintain floral displays and support
pollinator-friendly initiatives acr05S town centres and key public spaces. These efforts contributed to
cleaner, greener and more welcomin8 high-street environment5.
A key achievement was the continued development of the Pocket Garden, which provided an
attractive, accessible green space for residents and visitors. Volunteers supported planting,
maintenante and improvements that increased biodiversity, encouraged nature engagement and
offered a calm, restorative space within the urban setting. The Pocket Garden also served as a focal
point for environmental education and community pride.
Together, these project5 Strengthened Hyndburn's green infrastructure, supported local wellbeing
and demonstrated the posltive impact of volunteer-led environmental stewardship across the borough.

Friends of Rhyddings Park delivered a strong year of community activity, environmental care and volunteer
engagement throughout 2025. The group continued to provide a wide range of inclusive wellbeing sessions
at The Coach House, including Zen Yoga, QiGong, Men on Mats, Keep Fit, Circuits and Pilates, supporting
physical and mental health for residents of all ages. Craft sessions, Natter Club and family activities offered
low-cost opportunities for creativity, social connection and reduced isolation.
The volunteer-led café remained 3 key community asset, providing affordable hospitality and a welcoming
space for visitors. Volunteers also maintained the Kitchen Garden and wider park areas. working alongside
the horticulture coach to grow produce, improve planting schemes and support environmental learnin8.
Partnerships with Hyndburn Borough Council and local instructors Strengthened programme delivery and
community engagement. The group's work enhanced wellbeing, increased volunteering and ensured
Rhyddings Park remained a vibrant. inclusive space for all.
HGSF Secured Over £21.00 to Enhance Hyndburn's Green Spaces
In 2025, Hyndburn Green Spaces Forum successfully secured over £21,000 in external funding to support
two key community growing organisations.. Incredlble Edible Accrington and CSNW Gatty Growers. This
investment strengthened local food-growing initiatives, enhanced community participation, and supported
environmental improvements across the borough.
The funding enabled both groups to expand their growing spaces, improve infrastructure, repair and
restore existing polytunnels. These repairs were essential in ensuring safe, weather-resilient growing
environments and in supporting year-round food production and learning opportunities.
This achievement demonstrates the Forum's commitment to supporting grassroots organisations,
strengthening partnerships, and ensuring that Hyndburn's community growing network continues to thrive.
These investments reflect the power of partnership and grassroots commitment to making Hyndburn
greener, more inclusive, and more vibrant for all.

Brlef statement of the charlty's policy on reserves: The charity ha5 a policy of retaining reserves sufficient
for its short to medium term requirements. These are reviewed regularly and decisions regarding
fundraising needs as well as cost control are always taken with regard to this policy. Care is taken to
preserve restricted funds and these are only used for the purpose for which they are received.

charity {"the Trust") for the year ended

basis of report
As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the
accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011
("the Act").
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out
under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carying oul my examination, I
have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission
under section 14515llb} of the Act.

examiner's ststement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have
come to my attention in connection with the examination (other than that
disclosed below ') which gives me cause to believe that in, any material
respect..
the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130
of the Charities Act., or
the accounts did nol accord with the accounting records., or
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements
concerning the form and ¢ontenl of accounts set out in the Charities
(Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement
