Section D: Achievements and performance Fundraising activity during 2024—2025 During the year, Friends of Selwyn School delivered a broad programme of fundraising events aimed at raising funds for the school while strengthening engagement across the school community. Trustees deliberately balanced events focused on children with activities aimed at adults and whole families, reflecting feedback and learning from previous years. Key fundraising events included: e Preloved uniform and PE shirt sales Seven sales were held during the year, raising £734.35. These sales provided affordable uniform options for families and promoted sustainability through reuse. e Spooky Autumn Disco A popular event for children, raising £1,502.73. Trustees reviewed feedback from the event and identified improvements to age-group arrangements for future discos. e Winter Festival The Winter Festival raised £4,633.83 and wasa significant community event, supported by a large number of volunteers and well attended by families. e Grown-ups’ Quiz Night The quiz night raised £2,119.66 and demonstrated the value of adult-focused fundraising events. Trustees agreed to explore similar events in future years. e Mother’s Day and Father’s Day shops These events enabled children to independently purchase affordable gifts for caregivers. They raised £669.44 and £700.08 respectively and were well supported by families. e Easter Cake Sale and Krispy Kreme fundraiser This combined fundraising activity raised £523.39 and relied heavily on volunteer support. e Summer Festival The Summer Festival was the most successful event of the year, raising £5,009.83 Trustees noted strong community participation, high volunteer involvement and particularly positive feedback on inclusive and free elements of the event. e Eid celebration FOSS supported the school’s Eid event, raising £121.91 and contributing to an inclusive and welcoming school environment for children from all backgrounds. Additional fundraising streams In addition to events, FOSS raised funds through Little Recyclers collections, My School Lottery, Easyfundraising, ASDA Cashpot, clothing sales via Vinted, general donations and matched funding from the Lloyds Bank Foundation. These activities helped diversify income and reduce reliance on large-scale events alone . What FOSS funded for the school Funds raised during 2024—2025 were used to directly benefit children and improve the school environment. Major items funded included: e £20,000 investment in new playground equipment, including climbing frames, slides and safety surfacing e £3,000 (£1,000 per term) towards school trips, reducing costs for families e AChristmas pantomime for all children to enjoy e A Year 6 Leavers’ Disco, including refreshments and take-home treats e Anew PA and sound system for the school hall e Sports bibs and equipment to support PE lessons and competitions e Drama props to support curriculum enrichment child could take part | and enrichment opportunities and helped ensure I. r-led.
