The Trustees work with and alongside a number of volunteers and meet at least once a quarter to review all matters related to the charity. The committee is made up of experienced business people drawn frorn the Licensing industy. New and prospective Trustees are usually fatniliar with the charity's objectives and its ongoing work. They are invited io attend meetings with the existing Trustees in order to further familiarise themselves with ihe charity and its operations. The Trustees are supported from time to time by a committee of volunteers drnwn from the Licensing industry who help identify fundrdising opportunities and help to deliver these events. Risk Management The Trustees review the risks that the charity faces on a regular basis and believe that their management approach, which minimises risk and authorises expenditure only when reserves are sufficient, provides an adequale framework to respond in the event of a problem arising. Achlevements? Performance and Future Plan5 The Light Fund devises, creates and manaBes a range of fundraising activities throughout the year. Most of these are industy-wide events whilst oihers are based on individual fundraising a¢iivilies. Our notable sources of funds this financial year have included: Northem Light Fund Quiz held in Manchester Comedy Nighi Held in London Treasure Hunt in London Southern Light Fund Quiz held at Lord's cricket ground Raffles at Awards event organised by Max Publishing Ltd Sample sales by companies within licensin& toy & card industries Donations from Individuals Each year The Light Fund makes donations to a small number of designated charities, who are guaranteed funds from us for a minimum of 3 year5 to enable them to plan ahead with some certainty over that period. The allocation of the balance of funds available, usually the vast majority of the sums raised, is decided by the vote of Trustees and key sUPPOrters who choose from those proposed io us by charities via our website portal. In line wilh our donations policy, all donations this financial year have been made to UK registered charities and the Light Fund is kept up to date by these charities with their progress on the projects outlined by them for the donations.

We also make donations in memory of dear colleagues, or members of their families, who have passed away or suffered severe illness. These donations are approved by the Trustees and details of these are available if required but, for reasons of confidentiallyg are not included in thi5 report. The Light Fund has made two such memorial donations during the year in question. The Light Fund has a website which is publicly viewable and is updated regularly to reflect The Light Fund's activities FinAnciAI Review This has been a relatively 'nonnal' year of indusiry events and fund-raising events have been well attended and enjoyed by industry collea8ues. We are especially grateful to a number of generous individuals that have SUPPOrted us with donations and also those companies that have raised substantial sums for the Light Fund through raffles at Awards events and sample sales. In ihe forthcoming year, as well as canying out our regular events. we are planning a large event challen8e and encourdging the participation of a wide spread of industy colleagues. We hope this will be a positive contribution to our industry and generate a large sum of ffloney for us to distribute to worthy cause5 in due course. The Light Fund keeps its expenditure at very low levels. All Trustees and committee members & supporter5 provide their own time and Services free of charge. Reserves Policy Due to the minimal amounl of administrative expenditure deiailed above, our policy is to donate as much as possible at the cnd of each calendar year to good ¢aus4 leaving a prudent balance to cover contin8encies before fund-raising recommences the following year.
