As a member of the Baptist Union the church subscribes to the Union's Declaration of Principle:

That Christian Baptism is the immersion in water into the name of the Father, the Son _ and the Holy Ghost, ofthose who have professed repentance towards God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ who ‘died for our sins according to Scriptures; was buried, and rose again on the third day’.

## PASTOR’S ANNUAL REPORT

Annual Reports for April 2020 to April 2021. Where do we start? What is there to write about? Well actually, there is quite a lot. It’s just that you must dig around to find it. First, we are still a church, a body of Christ. We may have been unable to meet, but we have held together, bonded in Spirit. Services have gone out online, as has the weekly prayer meeting and Bible School, and GB/Activ8 activities. And for those not online a Bulletin has been distributed roughly every 3 weeks, to every member of the congregation, with news, prayer and faith needs, testimonies, etc. For those who have requested them, USB sticks or DVD’s of services have been distributed as available, as with prayer requests each week.

The deacons have continued to meet monthly, often online, sermons have been preached every Sunday and worship has been offered.

| would like to thank by name each person who has offered service during the year, but if | did, someone would be overlooked. Some ministries have been obvious and upfront, others quiet and easily missed, but each has been a blessing from Christ to His people. Thank you very much.

| close this report by saying a profound thank you to just one person; that is Joy, who has served the Lord for 14 years as Church Secretary. It has not always been an easy task, but Joy has faithfully served the Lord and the church. Thank you, Joy —we hope you enjoy your retirement!! P.S. She remains a deacon and worship leader --- no such thing as retirement.

So now for the future --- and only the Lord knows what that will hold!

Alan

## Secretary's Report

‘Lord, I don’t want to be Secretary’ echoed from my prayers to the Lord 15 years ago, but as you know God didn’t answer that prayer. [ must admit until I looked back it didn’t seem that I had been in office that long. There have been many ups and downs in that time, but I have been very conscious of God being with me.

This last year has beena real challenge to both the Deacons and church, but I know that through it all God has been with us. Although we have been separated and unable to meet together, we have been upheld by the Bulletin that Alan and Myrtle have faithfully put out, and on keeping in contact through the phone. John and others have also put our services and meetings online and distributed the recordings so that those unable to watch online could still feel part of the church.

Decisions of when to return or not have been very difficult, for Government decisions kept changing. But we are praying that it won’t be too long now before we can all be together again worshipping and Praising our Lord.

Through this past year I have still been to the church on Wednesday each week to see that everything is still OK and working properly. (Toilets flushed, taps still working etc...)

We have still met as a diaconate once a month to pray together and seek God’s will for us as a church. In times like this it is so easy to be distracted by what other churches feel God is leading to do and to follow suit, but it might not be the way that God is leading us, so we need to keep our eyes fixed on what Jesus wants for us.

We are trying to put many things in place for this coming year so hope that things will still be improving so that we may return to a bit more “normality” whatever that maybe.

So, as my service as Church Secretary draws to a close, I wish to thank you all for your support and putting up with my mistakes of which there have been many. And also, to thank Alan as he guided me through the responsibility that was needed of a secretary. .

But most of all to thank my Jesus for His patiénce, guidance, and reassurance all through my 15 years. As I said at the end of my report last year ‘GOD IS WITH US AND IN CONTROL’.

Joy Webb (Secretary)

## OASIS REPORT

Its over a year now since we have met. But by phone we keep in touch. Two of us have also been able to meet a couple of the users outside with thanks to their carers.

We hope to start in the Autumn, but | now feel my time as leader has come to an end. We have always worked as a team, but a couple of others are now feeling it is time for them to leave. ‘J’ will still come and lead her group.

The Lord loves these dear people who come and knows their limitations. Their happiness as we meet together is reward for helping them. We also get to know the Carers and sometimes they tell us their feelings when life gets difficult.

Anew team is needed and of course someone to lead. Please pray for all | have mentioned that OASIS can continue and be a place of refreshing for all who come and also for the Carers who trust them in our care.

Betty

## MUSIC GROUP

It has been well over a year since we as a group have been able to meet, and we have missed it very much. It has been difficult to appreciate why we have as a church been unable to worship our Lord in song, but we have had to abide by the laws of the government.

| am really grateful to three people for the time spent recording some songs so that we were at least able to listen, sing and worship our Lord in our own homes.

It was good to get together and have a service in the car park. We prayed that there would be no rain but forgot about the wind and a sheet of my music end up somewhere across the Gosport Road. | hope whoever found it enjoyed the words.

We are hoping it won't be too long before we are able to come together and raise our voices in worship and praise of Jesus.

Joy

## Junior Church Report — June 2021

## Children and young people are a vital part of the Church.

Jesus was angered when the disciples tried to prevent children coming to him. It must have been shocking to see Jesus blessing the lowliest in society. Blessing was seen as a very great privilege.

Children grow and develop their own relationship with God. Samuel heard God calling him by name and gave him a difficult message. As a child, Jesus spent time in the temple learning from the most experienced teachers.

Prior to March 2020, there were just 3 children who attended Junior Church. Due to the pandemic there has been no Junior Church this year and contact with the children has been very limited.

God has reminded me of the privilege of working with children. God calls children and he calls us to be like children.

Children and young people area vital part of the Church. We cannot be Church without them.

Please pray for our children and young people, as they grow, as they develop their own relationship with God.

Please pray for the right people to guide them.

## FELLOWSHIP REPORT FOR 2020/21 INC: CHURCH HOLIDAY

Fellowship has taken a different form in 2020. In March, for our last Sunday before lockdown, we had a fellowship meal after the morning service, which celebrated the churches 127" anniversary.

Following that, the holiday in Torquay was cancelled, as the hotel was put in hibernation.

And fellowship took the form of caring for one another with phone calls, food treats and regular bulletins — and the regular distribution of DVD’s and USB sticks for those who want to watch the Sunday services.

Of course, we all look forward to seeing one another again, and to singing our worship together in “the new normal”. See you there.

Myrtle.

## Missionary Report

With all the Rules and Regulations affected this last 16 months, it is amazing to me that we, the members of Fareham Baptist New Life Church are all relatively well. For this we can all give Praise to the Good Lord who has been shepherding us through this time of difficulty.

Via the Zoom App, we had a meeting with one of our link missionaries in October 2020 which was attended by those able to use their computers. About 18 people attended that meeting on line. A recording of this meeting was put onto a CD or Memory Stick and another 7 households listened to what was said via this means. Such is the versatility of modern technology.

This link missionary has been offered a temporary job as Chaplain at Morelands Bible College which is near her temporary accommodation in Christchurch. She is waiting for her contacts to give the go ahead to return as soon as it is safe to do so. Please remember her in your prayers.

In April, we had a Virtual Zoom meeting with two of our other link missionaries who were over on furlough for about three months. We had a quiz, some slides and a video with an update of their work. They have asked us to pray for their team and specifically for the move of their office, also that they may both be vaccinated before going back with their children. One has now completed her Law Exams and we pray that she has passed with flying colours. While they have been in the UK, the children have particularly loved the various playgrounds and parks. They even went on a river in canoes. (The children also really liked fish and chips and any kinds of berries — strawberry, raspberry, gooseberry etc).

While they have been with us, their Drilling Team have provided fresh water for another 800 to 1,000 people, thus saving lives from the effect of bug infested water. We will doubtless all wish them a safe and secure flight back and we should pray that they get their 2™ vaccinations before they leave the UK. We know that nothing is impossible for our Almighty God.

The church is supporting the work of missionaries in North India. They have set up 4 ‘Living Hope Centres’ in remote village areas. About 4 weeks ago one missionary was struck down by Covid 19. We as a church all prayed and against all the odds, he was admitted to hospital where he was given oxygen, and although unconscious, this saved his life. We give Glory to God for answered prayers. The other missionary also caught Covid 19 but she was not so badly affected and was able to recover at home. Both are now stable and having to take things a bit easy while they get back their strength. Please continue to remember India in your prayers because the humble poor there are unlikely to be given any priority when it comes to such things as oxygen to help keep them alive if they develop the virus. We know that God and the Lord Jesus are able to answer and give support more that we are ever able to expect or even think.

## “Men's Breakfasts”

As we head up to our yearly report, it occurs to me that my memory needs some maintenance. | have to be honest and say that | cannot remember writing one last year.

With the arrival of this ‘new kid on the block’, (Covid), events seem to be passing me by.

Having been isolating from March last year, no-one will be able to blame our chefs for any increase in their waistlines.

The landscape has changed for at least two of our ‘breakfast members’. They are ever diligent chefs themselves. For one, cooked breakfasts for anywhere between 11 and 15/16, has ‘morphed’ into all-day meals for one old pensioner and occasional Sunday lunches for two brothers. The other has swapped chefs shirt and apron for microphones, cameras and computer screens. For the rest of us, our waistlines have taken a bit of a sabbatical and perhaps, even a ‘lie-in’ on Saturdays.

Since this time last year, our diets have benefited in-as-much-as they have thus far been saved the ‘ravages’ of over a dozen eggs, two dozen rashers of bacon, a dozen hash browns, 1 or 2 dozen sausages, not to mention untold thousands of baked beans. We can at least console ourselves with the fact that we have ‘done our bit’ towards easing global warming with the later. (I leave you to work that one out!!)

Looking ahead to the future, it is unclear at this stage when ‘normal service’ will be resumed. An ‘idea’ has surfaced, that of contenting ourselves with a ‘cuppa’ and either a “Sausage Sarnie” or a “Bacon Butty” (or both!), socially spaced out in the garden. If the idea has any legs and details are successfully “chewed over’ (I couldn't resist that one), we'll email/text the times, places and/or dates.

Blessings and salutations as always.

John Curd.

This has been a year like no other. Who would have thought at the start of 2020 that we would not have met as a Group face-to-face for over a year? And yet we have met in a way, and have continued to uphold our ideals. Our last meeting in person was on 13" March 2020. Initially, we kept in touch by sending out a weekly email with a Bible story and instructions for a craft. We also promoted our Facebook page with live streams. We continued in this way until the end of August.

In September, we began meeting via Zoom for an hour on a Friday evening. Packs of materials are delivered to members’ homes in advance. We have 9 young people who attend quite regularly, although we have seen 17 in total. Some GB Groups met in person when Government Guidelines allowed but we decided that we would just meet on Zoom and we have been grateful for the continuity this has given us.

GB nationally created new badges which could be worked on-line or face-to-face. These have included our usual format of Bible stories, craft and games. We have looked at topics such as mental and physical wellbeing, Christmas and Easter. A favourite game has been ‘Bring me...’ which can bea little disconcerting as children disappear from the screen to find something but also hilarious when a particular teenager has to dash off downstairs for the umpteenth time to find a specific item, arriving back puffed out to find a 5-year-old had beaten him to it!

Six leaders have been able to join on Zoom. Three have worked with the under 11’s. The other three have worked with the over 11’s. We hope to welcome back two leaders who weren't online when we meet in person again. One leader has left our Group to help another, understaffed, Group. We thank her for all her hard work, especially with the Junior girls but also with collecting subs and sorting uniform. We will all miss her.

We have had 2 virtual parties during the year. As an alternative to Haloween, there was a Light Party in October. We had games with glow-sticks, party food and we learnt how Jesus came to be the Light of the World. At the Christmas Party, we heard the traditional nativity story and of course, played games and ate party food, which had been pre-delivered.

We had our annual Carol service on-line and invited parents and members of our Church congregation. We heard more of the Christmas story and shared our favourite carols.

## The Girls' Brigade and Activ8 continued

We were sad to have to postpone our Group's 60" anniversary celebrations last July. We are still unsure when we will be able to invite past and present members, friends and family to our planned reunion and service of thanksgiving.

Our annual camp was cancelled in 2020 and will not take place this year.

We are planning to meet in person in July for some outdoor games. We see this as an opportunity for informal chats about their year. We plan to return to our indoor meetings in September.

We thank you for all your support and prayers throughout the year. Please pray for all our members and their families. Some have had particular difficulties during lockdown. Please pray for the children and the leaders as we return to face-to-face meetings and for opportunities to see the Good News bearing fruit.

In all our activities, and this year is no exception, we strive to fulfil our GB Aim: 'To help girls (and boys) to become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ and through self-control, reverence and a sense of responsibility to find true enrichment of life’.

Fareham Baptist New Life Church Report of the Trustees for the year ended 31° March 2021 We Ange Little <a {ge , Angels Pre-School fs ‘qe . TK fe A new year 2 7 o> We returned to Pre-School with most of our children back after the national Prescho® lockdown, we had 12 new children joining us, as we could still not have parents in the building unless it was exceptional circumstances, we offered the new parents a 30 minute settling in session to stay with their child but wearing a face mask while they were in the building. This was very successful and all the new children settled in really well. During the middle of September one member of staff handed her notice in, she had moved to Southsea the year before and was struggling getting to and from Pre-School in time and also fitting it around her own children.

We advertised for a new member of staff and took on a new apprentice, she was one of our old mums so fitted in really well. In October 3 members of our staff contracted the coronavirus so we had to close Pre-School for 2 weeks, we had to inform Public Health England and ofsted. Everyone returned to Pre-School safe and well after but still had effects of long covid. We unfortunately could not have a Christmas party and get together this year so we just had a week of Christmas fun within Pre-School for all the children.

## January 2021

We have returned back to Pre-School in another national Lockdown! Some of our children are not returning at the moment and we have made the decision not to start any new children at the moment until things are safer.

We had some sad news that the new apprentice had been taken into hospital over Christmas still suffering from long covid symptoms, after being in Hospital for over a week she was diagnosed with a neurological disorder, they have told her it could take a year for her body to get back to normal, unfortunately because of this she had to hand her notice into Pre-School.

Once again we were looking for a new member of staff, we contacted Fareham college to find a new apprentice and they sent a girl along to have an interview with us, we met her and decided to offer her an apprenticeship with us, she has been with us a few months now and gets on well with the children.

We have also taken on another girl who has become our Admin assistant to help support in the office and sort out all our store cupboards, this will help us as it is very busy in the room, we have noticed that the children have needed a lot more support with their emotions since they have come back to Pre-School.

## Transitions to School

We are currently supporting the children who are starting School in September, we encourage them to be more independent, dressing themselves, going to the toilet and feeding themselves. We have some teacher visits over the next few weeks under a Covid safe distance and with face masks, this will help the children to meet their teachers before starting School.

We are unsure at the moment if we can have a graduation for the children but really hope we can do something with smaller numbers.

## Projection for next year

We have 20 children leaving us in July to go to School, we have 12 new children that have registered with us to start in September, some of our old children have increased their hours in September so we are filling up fast already, we have more parents taking up the 30 hours funding. We are hoping that in September things will get back to normal again and we can once again welcome parents into the building, it has been hard not being able to see parents in the building and build bonds when you can only see them outside for short amount of time.

## We are looking forward to a fresh new start to the new school year.

## Financial Review

The charity continues to be funded mainly through gifts and donations from members of the charity, plus income from the preschool.

## Reserves Policy

The trustees do not consider a reserves policy is required at this time. The situation is continually monitored in conjunction with the pre-school management team.

## Future Developments

At the time of writing, due to the Covid-19 Coronavirus pandemic the church buildings have been partially opened.

The lower hall has been used by Little Angels Pre-school.

The Girls’ Brigade and Activ8 have resumed face to face meetings in the Sanctuary after a period of meetings on Zoom.

During this time, weekly services have commenced on Sunday mornings, and have also been broadcast on Facebook, YouTube and recordings distributed on DVD/USB memory sticks. Prayer meetings and other activities have taken place on Zoom.

Although our buildings may have been shut, the church has continued, and we have seen a number of people regularly view services from outside the local area.

Offerings and donations, although reduced, have continued to be received.

We are confident that God will continue to sustain us going forward.
