SUMMARY OF ACTIVITIES DURING 2024

A series of talks were held during 2024 which covered the following topics:

The Dining Club also met on a number of occasions during 2024, at various locations within Aberaeron, and everyone enjoyed their meals and the social gathering.

The Association also organises trips during the year, however due to a low uptake one of the planned trips for 2024 was cancelled. Nevertheless two trips were organised – the first was to Ceredigion Museum in Aberystwyth; and the second to Lampeter University to see examples of books, and other items, held in the University’s Rare Books Library.

The Association was actively involved in campaigning to persuade Ceredigion County Council to retain Aberaeron Library at its current location rather than moving it up to the Council’s HQ at Penmorfa. As well as responding to the formal consultation, representatives of the Association also spoke against the move at one of the County Council’s Scrutiny Committee meetings; met with the Council Leader; lobbied Welsh Government ministers and were instrumental in securing the involvement of the Older Person’s Commissioner for Wales.

The Association’s website was revamped during 2023 and the new site was launched at the end of that year. The website was fully functional during 2024 and can be accessed via – https://www.cymdeithasaberaeronsociety.org/

The membership year commences with effect from 1[st] of September each year and runs until 31[st] August of the following year.
