REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31- DECEMBER 2023
The twstees present their report wrth the financial sL2tements of the charity for the year
ended 31 December 2023. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and
Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities
preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Stsndards applicable in
the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effeGlive from 1° January 2019).
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Goveming Document - the charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), which is
registered with the Chanty Commission, and is controlled and govemed in accordance with
its Constrtution dated 29 December 2021. The Commtttee members are the trustees of the
CIO and they collectively, or via a specrfic sulKommittee, organise projects such as Winter
Talks, Exhibition, Research, Web Srte and Dining Club

The promotion for the publlc benefit of the local herftage of Aberaemn and the
surmundlng distric£
This objective is achieved throwh a range of activities to promote hentage and history
across th8 whole of the community. encouraging as many people as possible to participate,
celebrate and leam more about the area's past. and linking it to life today.

SUMMARY OF ACTMTIES DURING 2023
Following the impact of Covid restrirtions in previous years, nomialtty. to all intents and
purposes, resumed with effe(* from September 2022.
A series of talks were held duriNJ 2023 which covered the following topics: Ceredigion
Characters., Joseph Jenkins (the Swagman). Pennies of the People.. Anne Evans, Highmead
1738-1807 - the best farmer in the county,. George Chapman- a Fersonal view,. and Historic
Pla￿ Names of Wales
The Dining Club also met on a nUM￿r of occasions dunng 2023. at various locations within
Aberaeron, and everyone enjoyed their meals and the social gathering.
The Association organised Iwo trips for its members dunng 2023 - the first visit was to Strats
Florida, and the second to Nanteos Mansion and Country House Hotel.
One of the main developments during 2023 was a substsntial revampirKJ, and updating, of
the Association's ￿￿bsite This was successfully completed. and launched, towards the end

During 2023 it was decided to amend the membership year so that st commences wth effect
from 1, of Septemb8r each year rather than 1 of January. It was therefore deGided that the
existing membership pen¢Jd would be extended, y￿thOU1 Charge. from the end of December
2023 to the end of August 2024.
It was also decided during the year to change the Associalion's bank account from Barclays
Bank to National Westrninster Bank, and this was successfully completed at the very end of
December 2023.
