The trustees present their annual report and financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2025.
The financi315t3tement5 have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in note I to the
financial statements and comply with the charity's leoverning documentl. the Companies Act 2006 and
"Accounting and Reporting by Chaiities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing
their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland
IFRS 1021- las amended for accounting periods commencing from l January 20161
Objectives and activities
To relieve physical. mental and material distress amon8St carers of people who are in need of care and who live
in Essex by providing flexible support. advocacy and information to carers in need. The charity aims to improve
the quality ol life for carers by..
enabling carers to achieve increased choice and control in their lives-
reducing carers feelings ol isolation,.
improving carers general health and well bein8.
Achlevements and perFormance
As Trustees ol Essex Carers Support we feel our or8anisation is best placed to be able to provide support
services to carers livin8 Wlthin the local community and strive at all times to ensure we provide an efficient and
effective service, delivered in the m05t cost-effective way, with a strong value base and keepin8 the need5 of
carer5 at the heart of all we do.
We believe that the principles of partnership workin8 and collaboration are key to this and are very pleased to
be workin8 closely with Action for Family Carers in the delivery of the Local Authority's core commissioned
offer for family carers acrtsss North Easi and West Essex.
The first year of this Service has 8C*ne exceptionally well. All Key Performance Indicators have been achieved
and all targets met or exceeded. Our commilmenl to providin8 hi8h-qualily. personalised conversatigns based
upon the Carers Star is well received by carers and comrnissioner5 alike. We look forward delivering this servi¢e
over the coming years. using our learning, knowledge and experience to suppori the development of future
services for carers in Essex.
Essex Carers Support will continue io seek io influence the delivery of public services and remain involved in
the design of policy and service delivery strategies.
Through our activity, we provide a stronger volte for tarers and reath out to those not currently in receipt of
support,. we develop effective ways to ensure carers views are heard, their opinions tonsidered and their
expertise acknowledged.
We provide strong governance.. tontinuing to plan and develop a futvie strategy for ihe organisation which
ensures that Essex Carers Support is able to respond io carers, needs and the ch311enEes they face as we move
forward.

Flnanclal revlew
The trading surplus on the Income and Expenditure actount for the year amounted to £24.21312024.. £56.0121.
The total funds of the company as at 31 March 2025 were £235,595 12024.. £211,382).
The trustees remain conscious of the need to keep costs to a minimum and provide an efficient and
professional service dedicated to the clients ol the charitv.
The Executive Committee intends that..
Aeserves be maintained at a level which ensures that Essex Carers Sltpport core activity could continue
for a minimum ol twelve months durin8 a period ol unforeseen difficulty;
Such reserves will include allowances lor redundancy payments and buildin8 maintenance,.
The board will ensure that the calculation of the required level ol reserves form5 an inte8ral part of the
planning, budgeting and forecast cycle;
An amount equal to at least 50% of the reseryes required will be maintained in a readily reali5able
form.,
When bud8etin8 and foreca5tin8, the following points will be taken into account,.
Risk5 a550ciated with each stream of income and expenditure bein8 different from that
bud8eted,.
Planned activity levels:
Organisatlonal cornmitments
At the balance sheet date the value of unrestricted ieserves amounied 10 £235.595. Of this amount £2,147 Is
tled up in fixed assets. whith are not readily convertible to cash.
Structurei ¥overnance and mana8ement
The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust and constitutes a charitable company
limited by 6uarantee. The company was incorporated on 28 February 2011 and re8lStered as a charity on 3
January 2012.
The company wa5 established Under a Memorandum of Association, which established the objects and powers
of the charitable company and 15 governed under its articles ol a550cialion. The articles stipulate that at the
first Annual General Meeting after incorporation110 july 20121 all the trustees shall retire from office belc>re
the appointment ol a new Board of Direttors. The Board intludes staff representation at their meetings where
appropriate to do so.

Appointment and induction of trustees
New trustees are briefed on their legal obli8ations under charity and company law. the content of the
Memorandum and Articles of Association, the committee and decision making processes. the business plan and
the recent financial performance of the charity. When considering co-opting trustees, the Executive Committee
has regard to the requirement for any speci3li5t skills needed. The organisatlgn has a full induction pack for anv
new tru5tee5 and a150 arrange5 relevant training.
Rlsk managemènt
The Executive Committee has instigated a review of the majoi risks to which the charity may be exposed and
systems have been established to miligate those risks. Internal risks have been minimised by the
implementation of procedures foi authorisation of all transactions to ensure consistent quality for all
operational aspects of the charitable company. These procedures are periodically reviewed to ensure that they
continue to meet the needs of the charity.
Publlc benefit
The trustees have referred to the guidance contained within the Charity Comrnission's general guidance on
public benefit when reviewing the aims and objectives of the charity and in plannin8 future activities. The main
activities and who the charity has tried to help are described below. All of the charitable activities focus on the
well-bein8 of carers and are undertaken to further charitable purposes for the public benefit.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the financial statements of Essex Carers Support Ithe charityl
for the year ended 31 March 2025.
Responsibilities and bas15 of report
As the trustees of the charity land also its directors for the purposes of company lawl you are responsible for
the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with ihe requirements ol the Companies Act 2006
Ithe 2006 Act).
Having satisfied myself that the financial ststements of the charity are not reqUI￿d to be audited under Part
16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of the
charity's financial statements carried out under section 145 of ihe Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Actl. In
carryin8 Out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission
under section 14515llbl of the 2011 Act.

The financial statements have been prepared in atcordance with the charity's Memorandum and Articles
incorporated 28 February 2011. the Companies Att 2LX)6 and -Accounting and Reporting by Charities..
Statement ol Retommended Piactice applicable io charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the
Flnanci31 Reporting Standard applicable in the LIK and Republit of lieland IFRS 1021" las amended for
accounting periods commenting from l January 20161. The charity is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by
FRS 102.
The charity has taken advantage of the provisions in the SORP for charities applying FRS 102 Update Bulletin
I not to prepare a Statement of Cash Flows.

At the time of approvin8 the financial statements, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that the
charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence lor the foreseeable future. Thus the
trustees continue to adopt the 80in8 concern basis of accounting in preparin8 the financial statements.
1.3 Char5table funds
Unrestricted funds are available lor use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of their charitable
objectives.
Restricted funds are subject to specific conditions by donors or grantors as to how they may be used. The
purposes and uses of the restricted funds are set out in the notes to the financial statements.
1.4 Incomln8 resources
Income is recognised when the charily is legally entitled to it after any performance conditions have been
met. the amounts can be measured reliably. and it is probable that income will be received.
Cash donations are recognised on receipt. Other donations a￿ ￿COgnised once the charity has been
notified of the donation. unless performance conditions require deferral of the amount. Income tax
recoverable in relation to donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is recognised at the time
of the donation.
Expenditure is recognised once there 15 a legal or constructive obligation to transfer economic benefit to a
third party, it 15 probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement, and the amount
of the obli8ation can be measured reliablv.
Expenditure 15 classified by activity- The costs of each activity are made up of the total ol direct costs and
shared costs. including support C05t5 involved in undertaking each activity. Direct Costs attributable to a
single activity are alltscated directly to that activity- Shared c05t5 which contribute to tnore than one activity
and sUPPOrt costs which are not attributable to a single activity are apportioned between those activities on
a basis consistent with the use of ￿SoUrCes. Central staff costs a￿ allocated on the basis of time spent. and
depreciation charges are allocated on the portion of the asset's use.

In the application of the chaiity's accouniing policies. the irustees are required to make judgements.
estimates and assumptions about the carrying amouni of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent
from other sources. The estimates and associated assumptions are based on historical experience and other
factors that are considered to be relevant. Actual results may difler from these estimates.
The estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to accounting
estimates are reco8nised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the revision affects only that
period, or in the period of the revision and future periods where the revision affects both current and future
periods.
