INTRODUCTION
Friends of Phoenix Special School (FOPSS) was officially formed in 2010, when an official Constitution was adopted.
The objects of the charity were agreed
-
To advance the education of the pupils at The Phoenix School, Keighley, by providing and assisting in the provision of education, recreational and other charitable facilities/activities not required to be provided by the local education authority at the school.

To support children with special needs and their families/carers by the provision of education and play facilities, activities, outings, and events including care and support and information in particular but not exclusively by the provision of holiday Stay and Play sessions.
The Committee consist of stakeholders including staff, parents/carers, and volunteers from the school.

FOPSS is registered with the Charities Commission and is officially recognised as a registered charity – reg No 1144971
FINANCIAL SUMMARY
The total income to 30[th] September 2021 was £26,867.84 the major source of funding was from grants from the local and central government grants and fundraising.

The total expenditure for the 12-month period was £21,984.33 the charity provided food hampers for families during the height of the Covid pandemic
Due to covid-19 we have been unable to fulfil our normal programme of Stay and Play holiday sessions.
We have been able to run eight holiday play sessions in the summer holidays, that was limited numbers ensuring staff and children were in bubbles and kept safe.
We have a carried forward balance of £51,853.99. £10,000.00 of this fund is to go towards the outdoor playing area is now into phase three.
HIGHLIGHTS & ACTIVITY
Charitable Objectives achieved
Friends of Phoenix hold regular meetings where parent/carers and staff are encouraged to have a more involvement to continue the fundraising efforts of the group.
Due to covid-19 our fundraising efforts have been badly affected and we have had to cancel a number of events, Summer Fair and Disco, Raffles and we managed to hold an interactive online Christmas fair which made a small amount of funds.
Parents still actively support each other via the support network via social media; where parents can all talk interact with one another.
Grants were secured to enable us to provide food boxes over the school holidays to ensure children who were on free school meals were able to have access to free food. This enables families to come together to interact and feel supported.
SUMMARY
This year has been one of the most challenging years due to covid-19. We have supported families virtually and from a safe distance and will ensure everyone keeps supporting each other.
Families with disabled children already are isolated and during the covid pandemic this has shown how small their world is. The focus for these parents is to ensure that they keep their children alive.
Parents and carers have given support in many different ways, and we thank them for all they have done in the past and now we are slowly recovering and opening our doors for face to face meetings and fundraising events, we know our extended family will once again join us.
Like many other small charities, it has been a different and we have had to adapt to the changing world around us.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back as soon as possible and fingers crossed that 2021/2022 will return to some normality.

Report of the Trustees for the year ending 30[th] September 2021
Friends of Phoenix Special School (Fops) was founded in 2010. The charity is run by parents/ staff and volunteers.
The charity relies on fundraising, donations, and grants to provide the support for the children, school and families.
The charity holds regular meetings where trustees are invited to attend.
The charity follows all safeguarding, and health and safety procedures and one of the committee members is a named person for child protection.
The accounts are maintained by the charities treasurer and accounts are subject to independent checks by an independent auditor.
